Not really, but he does say this:

"Some of the stuff that Resistance is doing about trying to keep jacking up the number of guys in a game... I've played Resistance, and I'm a huge Battlefield 2 fan but I'm still interested in how do you keep that number of guys in a game and make it seem like you are actually playing together and not just running around in a chat room. It's real interesting and I wish them well but, yeah, it's a challenge."

http://www.videogamer.com/news/21-02-2008-7589.html

Resistance 2 multiplayer:

"Massive numbers should not mean massive confusion: 60 players (up from Resistance's max number of 40) may sound like an awful lot, but Insomniac is doing everything in their power to make sure competitive battles don't get out of hand. Players will be split into lobbies of six-to-eight-member squads, each with unique objectives. Specific areas on each map will foster frantic large-scale battles, but most of the fighting should come in the former of smaller skirmishes."

- also upgrade your online character (similar to Perks in COD4)

What do you guys think? Is 60 players too much or too difficult for Insomniac games?

He makes some good points. It is up to the dev to manage it. So far I like what Insomniac is saying.

i gotta agree with the guy... that's why i dont like gigantic multiplay maps because i like to feel like i'm actually doin something and you get that feeling more often playing smaller maps with less people

We will have to wait and see but i think as long as they have a large enough enviroment and split you up into teams with a certain mission, i think no problem should arise.

I personally expect the squad system to be somewhat like the one in front Lines, and if that is the case organization can be pulled off easily.

So your thread title is basically false? :|

He's simply saying what everybody here says so often. More players does not equal more fun. Unless you can pull it off in a creative and seemless manner, like Battlefield, you just end up in a game where you may as well be playing 10 players; you're just shooting and being killed by different people each time.

You might want to change the topic title, since he really isnt saying anything negative, just that it will be a challenge.

He was actually on insomniacs podcast about a month ago with another guy from bungie. The studios seem to get on pretty well tbh.

The squads thing sounds kind of cool. Having certain areas for objectives and big areas for large scale combat would be cool.

So basically Resistance is becoming a Sci-Fi Battlefield Clone? good luck to them, Battlefield games are awesome, hope they manage to succeed unlike that mess like that recent BF wannabe.

I think he made a misleading title as a trap.

Yeah, he's right as far as saying it's difficult to make 60 player fun, but Insomniac has a plan to prevent it from being chaotic. I can't wait to see!

I think that is the only way it can work with so many other players in the same room.

He has a point. Obviously I haven't played Resistance 2, but it certainly has some high-risk high-reward elements. For example CoD 4 is very much a team-based game, but because of the lack of communication you're very much lone-wolfing most of the time (at least on the 360). This squads idea could be revolutionary, but at the same time it could blow up in Insomniac's face.

Yeah. I can't imagine every game type will be 30 v 30. CTF would just be ridiculous, they're have to add zones and siege types to the game for that many players.

Yeah lets spin this with inflammatory titles until you make a developer war when there really isn't one. This is like the 4th one I've seen on the net so far over a pretty friendly podcast. All he says is making a 60 player multiplayer game is not easy. That is all. HE didn't say they would fail or talk any "****".

Ninja-Vox

I'm sure it will be similar to Battlefield. The idea of being apart of a squad and traversing around huge maps while completing specific objective sounds very fun. Plus the upgrade system like COD4 Perks should twist it up a bit.

I know that 8). And you took the bait :).

But for the record this sounds kinda mean, "Some of the stuff that Resistance is doing about trying to keep jacking up the number of guys in a game..."

:o I loved it, better class system, Titans were more fun that capping bloody flag posts :D , more fire fights, faster travel for those that didnt fall victim to vehicle whores.

Coulda used more vehicle variety though.
