[QUOTE="KungfuKitten"]Part of why I like QTEs (Quick Time Events) is because I'm quite good at them.I haven't seen it done that often. Doing something like this on the Wii could be pretty interesting.

But, right around Resident Evil 4, they started feeling overused.
its been overdone. I think its fine when used in small doses (such as resi 4's suplex) but at times when its used sequentially (as in god of war) i find it annoying. having said that I enjoyed it in god of war because i hadnt done many long QTE's before so it felt kinda new. But now that most games are trying to put them in its starting to annoy.
EDGE did a cool thing about the overuse of QTE's being related to alot of games now trying to be choreographed liked movies and QTE's are the only way of getting such moves done. But does this lead to a lack of involvement with the player? I think it does, and I think it would be better if some games toned down the use of them.
They did that for some RE4 QTEs. The waggle sucked imo.
Ok, so what if they changed the input?
Using motions to pull open a door, do this and that, instead of random buttons in the trailers?
Or would that be too similar?

It's really something that depends on the game. As long as they don't add them just to add them, but they actually have a place.

Meh. RE4 sequences didn't really incorporate them much other than let You waggle at some unexpected moment.KungfuKittenWhich is why we'll have to see. :P
Button pressing sequenses are the ruin of modern gaming. They add the certain cinematic feel, but strip the feel of you actually controlling your character.
The worst example of button sequenses are in Fahrenheit/Indigo Propechy. In the end, the game just feels like a rhytm game, because the button sequenses take the whole game over.

Are you serious? Fahrenheit was the best QTE game I've experienced and it wasn't only about the gameplay which is something unique, the story was great part of the game also, the music...etc.
As for the other comment which is about the game being like a rhythm game, it didn't feel anything near it, it is all about the interactivity in the game, which alot of people demand it for a story driven game, and the developers did a wonderful job about it.
No rpblem with it aas long as it is not just the button showing, but also its place on the controller...
Otherwise it is just your experiance with the game controller that makes a difference which is really a turn off for people normally not playing on the console...
But button pressing isn\t too bad.. Button mashing is what I hate.. SHould ban devs putting that in games.. Like God Of war.. Or RE4.. Simply flaws in great experiances..
