The details of the lawsuit is not known at the moment. If it is, can someone share the info.

PUBG is most likely going after Epic on an ethics stance more than anything. You have the makers of a game engine; to which PUBG is built on, recreating the same experience but it runs twice as fast and is more stable. Not only that they are now the number 1 Battle Royal game on the market. PUBG is still struggling with its overall performance of their game. The merits of the claim which currently unknown is well unknown.

I don't know what PUBG is after here. Did they think they were going to be on top of this forever? They had a good idea that can be done better by other people, and other publishers are already jumping on the bandwagon and improving the formula. PUBG Corp is slow to update and took forever to get the game up to where it is now. Their getting lapped by better devs was only the natural course.

They have 600 employees, but improvement has been a crawl. Anyway. I love the thread title. I LOLed.

It says Copyright Infringement.

A copyright infringement is a violation of an individual or organization's copyright. It describes the unauthorized use of copyrighted material, such as text, photos, videos, music, software, and other original content. In the computer industry, copyright violations often refer to software programs and websites.

A bit at odds with Epic, especially after paying for PvE early access and now that mode gets no attention.

Will be interesting to see this play out.

Guess someone's gonna sue WOW for copying MMORPG one day.

But one thing i have in question is that are they suing Epic Games in Korea or Epic Games Corporation...because suing subsidiaries is different in liability laws (well at least in US, not sure in Korea)

Everquest was doing what WoW did years beforehand.

@DragonfireXZ95: That's one of the funniest slippery slopes!

EQ before WoW! UO before EQ! The Realm before UO! Meridian 59 before The Realm! AOL MMORPG's! OMG WE FORGOT ABOUT L.O.R.D. THE KING OF BBS!

That's about how old I am. I'm sure someone older can continue this for me.

Battle Royale is a concept that is not new at all; it was a movie, it was a wrestling theme (Royal Rumble)...now it's a game mode.

PUBG didn't invent it, therefore they have no grounds for a lawsuit.

The most popular type of MMOG, and the subgenre that pioneered the category, is the massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG), which descended from university mainframe computerMUD and adventure games such as Rogue and Dungeon on the PDP-10

The first graphical MMOG, and a major milestone in the creation of the genre, was the multiplayer flight combat simulation game Air Warrior by Kesmai on the GEnie online service, which first appeared in 1986. Kesmai later added 3D graphics to the game, making it the first 3D MMO.

Commercial MMORPGs gained acceptance in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The genre was pioneered by the GemStone series on GEnie, also created by Kesmai, and Neverwinter Nights, the first such game to include graphics, which debuted on AOL in 1991.[citation needed]

I think somebody is going to get filty rich really soon. If this lawsuit works out.
