I am looking to purchase a new system and am looking for some advice as to the pros and cons of the two systems. I have a Wii, which is OK, but I'm looking to play some of the games that just are not available on this platform. So which is the better buy, Xbox 360 or PS3?

It is worth to buy the XBOX360 "it is cost only 180euro today"....:

1)The XBOX360 it have much bigger gaming selection than the PS3.

2)Awesome exclusives games.....(Alan Wake,Forza 3,Halo:REACH,Gears of War 1&2,,Fable 2,Ace Combat 6,Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts...)

3)More multiplats games PC/360....L4D2,Mass Effect 2,Metro 2033 console exclusive for the XBOX360.

4)99% of multiplats games look or run better on 360.......AC2,Bayonetta,RE5,Fallout 3,Batman AA,Bioshock 2.

5)Better online and controller.

6)The 360 can play over 400 games from the old XBOX....the new ps3 models they don't play ps2 games.

really the best thing to do, is look at what system most of your friends have.. this gen is all about social networking and interaction... I have both systems.. I prefer my PS3 but get most games on the 360 simpily because thats the system 95% of my friends game on..

If you get the PS3 you will save a lot of money, epic single players, and PSN is not as bad as people make it be.

If you get the 360 you will get Live ($50 though),epic multiplayer, average single player. And you will get a game or two that or not on the ps3.

I consider buying the PS3 first, then the 360 like I did.Of course, that if you plan to own both.

PS3 by a longshot, free online, wifi, blu ray, awesome controller with cool features and is rechargable, it's a reliable system and it has the best library of all the consoles, second only to the PC. The 360 peaked in 2007, it's been downhill ever since, they've average like 1/2 AAA exclusives a year, the PS3 has been really kicking it into gear in the games department.

Ps3

Great exclusives

Free online

Good graphics

Wifi built in

Xbox 360

Great if you dont own a gaming pc. has access to a lot of games.

Online is better

More people will have a mic

It comes down to this.

Xbox 360- Great online and awesome if you don't own a gaming pc

Ps3- Great exclusives and perfect if you have a gaming pc.

Both are pretty good. it comes down to opinion.

The ps3 has a lot of good exclusives. But so does the xbox 360.

Ask yourself this. Would you rather play Halo or Uncharted 2. Whichever one you pick that is the console you should get.

is you want JRPGs, decent shooters and more creative games like LBP go with the PS3.

if you want to play mostly online shooters or multiplatform games, go with the xbox360.

Other than a select few games (Heavy rain, alan wake, halo reach, god of war 3, uncharted 2)

Both consoles really shine on multiplatforms. Also keep in mind the tech of both consoles. Are you able to hook an ethernet cord to your console? If not maybe get a ps3 as it is 100$ on the xbox to go wifi.

1) PS3: 558 360: 736 from games released for the consoles, but since u say "gaming selection" PS1 BC has more games then XBOX+XBOX360, and if we talk a BC ps2 model then the gap widens even more. 2)Opinion 3)I do not see how having more shared games with the pc makes it better...but ok, ps3 has more shared games with the psp, see what i did there? 4)Yeah like the ninja gaiden sigma 1, ninja gaiden sigma 2, darksiders, eternal sonata international edition etc 5)Opinion 6)PS3 can play ps1 games...and there are more then 5000... @TC it comes down to 1.what games u want 2.Online 3.failure rate 4.Blu-ray 5. Wi-fi 6.Controllers

There's one problem with your question, you provided no information on what types of games you're interested in. System Wars really isn't the best place to be asking this type of question though. The Microsoft fanboys will obviously say the XBox 360 is the better console and the Sony fanboys will do the same with the Playstation 3. This is the answer I give to anyone looking to purchase a new console:

Look at the games currently available for the console and also those coming out within the next year. Find out which console has more games that interest you and then the choice should be simple.

In my opinion it comes down to the games. I will list all the exclusives I can think of for each console.

PS3: Uncharted, Uncharted 2, Resistance: Fall of man, Resistance 2, Killzone 2, inFamous, Demon's Souls, Metal Gear Solid 4,God of War 3, Heavy Rain, Motorstorm, MotorStorm: Pacific Rift, MAG, Warhawk, Lair ( unfortunately), Heavenly sword, LittleBigPlanet, Gran Tourismo 5, Rachet and Clank Future: Tools of destruction, Rachet and Crank Future: A crack in time, Yakuza 3, Yakuza 4, White knight chronicles, white knight chronicles 2

360: Halo 3, Halo: Reach, Gears of War, Gears of war 2, Left 4 dead, left 4 dead 2, Alan Wake, Halo 3: ODST, Metal Gear Solid: Rising, Splinter Cell: Conviction, Mass effect, Mass effect 2, Fable 2, Fable 3, Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts, Crackdown, Crackdown 2, Forza motorsport 3, Halo: Wars, Too Human

I personally think that the PS3 is better, but the choice is yours.

Note: Not all of these games are good, and I may not have covered them all.

The 360 is great because it has Halo 3 & ODST, Mass Effect 1 & 2, Gears of War 1 & 2 and other great titles.

The PS3 is great because it has MGS4, Uncharted 1 & 2, Resistance 1 & 2, inFamous and other great titles.

Both are great because they have Assassin's Creed 1 & 2, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Bioshock 1 & 2 and other great titles.

Both are good consoles.

In overall value though the PS3 wins.

PS3:

120GB $300 /250GB $350 model; If you want to get a bigger hard drive, any lap top hard drive should work.

Rechargable controllers; just plug in the usb cord and it will charge

Built in Wifi; incase you cant use an ethernet cord

Blu-Ray player

Free Online Play

Web Browser (not as good as PC but still good)

Full BC for PS1 games

no PS2 BC :(

Trophies arent available for all games that came out before 2009

360:

Arcade(no hard drive) $200/Elite(120GB?) $300 model; If you want to get a bigger hard drive you have to get them from microsoft. They are definitely not worth the price

Controllers that require batteries; you can buy a charge kit

no built in wifi; have to buy from microsoft for $100

Xbox Live; costs $50 a year or else you cant play your games online

limited BC for Xbox original games

Games and exclusives are subjective. They both have great libraries. However, there have been some games that arrive on the ps3 later with more content (Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, Eternal Sonata)

Xbox Live apps like Twitter, and Facebook; These only come with Xbox Live Gold membership

Summary: The PS3 is by far the cheaper console, with plenty of built in features. Games are abundant on both consoles, and their value really depends on your taste. The 360 has some integrated apps like twitter or facebook, but are only availabe to Live Gold members. However Twitter Facebook and other sites can be used on the ps3 web browser for free.

I recommend the PS3

For anyone perpetuating the myth that the 360 is the better "bang for your buck." You have to pay $450 just to get the same base level experience that the PS3 provides out of the box for $300.

Also, original Xbox game compatibility is gonna become kind of a moot point once Microsoft kills Live support for those games in April.

The PS3 offers more stuff for the money. It depends on whether or not wifi and blu-ray are something you want. It depends on you. For me personally, the 360 is a much funner gaming machine though as I dont use the wifi or the blu-ray and the 360 still has a bigger game library. I have two friends that used the blu-ray to watch movies and both of their PS3's drive quit working.
