After what happened with the 360 I am gun shy about buying any console on day one.

F*cking wait if you want.
But if devoted gamers didn't go out and buy the systems early on then your "wait" would be worthless. For example, let's all be like you and wait... and then the system dies because everyone waits.
Agreed. The 360 and PS3 still have a lot of juice left. Of course it is all about the games for me. If both have a strong lineup out the gates, I may get both.

Agreed, even though I'm getting the PS4 I still got a butt-load of PS3 and 360 games to play!! Why get a PS4 then some might ask? Well, I already had planned on getting another system for my spare room, and at 399$ that's the perfect price point for me!!! Heck....that's affordable for anyone!!
no i got my 360 in 05, and its time to move on... If you dont have a PS3, you should get one, because that still has games many gamers want to play. I'm getting the PS4, and the one probably never. Unless MS ever make a version that does not include kinect.Â
Day one sales are important as they show how many people are dedicated to gaming. The more people that buy consoles day one, the more money goes into gaming. Think of it as supporting the gaming industry with an investment.
No I'm so glad you brought this up, because after E3 I thought the exact same thing. I'm certainly waiting at least 6 months. I'm overall hugely dissapointed in the lack of innovation in the gaming industry the past 5 years.
Â
Honestly, Microsoft is the one impressing me the most right now with new stuff, and all the hate they are getting just backs up my point.
NahNot to cause offense, just an observation. The graphical gap is smaller than it's ever been. Plenty of the games shown at E3 could easily pass for current gen games. A lot of the big hitters like Metal Gear Solid, COD, Battlefield, GTA, Destiny and plenty of others are already in development for current gen consoles too and will probably end up being the more solid versions; - last gen all of the first wave next-gen games were just rushed ports of current gen versions.
Anyway.... my point is simply that you could easily wait a year, have plenty of games to play, not really miss out on anything and then get a new console at a significantly reduced price with a few games bundled in.Â
Amirite?Â

Not if you are selling it on EBay. People will get like $1000+ for one I'm sure. blackace
Lol...that's true. Last gen consoles we're selling for crazy numbers on EBay at their launch.Â

Yeah, their game line-up is stellar but at the same time they are peeing on the consumer!!
Â
Believe it or not, some people want a fully connected, all in one, entertainment system. Those people do not come to these forums. But you are right, the xbox line-up is fan-frickin-tastic.

They really aren't, it's just that it comes at a cost, so it seems like it. But really all the hate they are getting shows me they are thinking outside the box.
Â
What they are doing is the future for gaming, and it's not bad at all. The environment will change and it will work. MS is just doing it too early is all. And as I've said before, MS and Sony won't last long enough to see it come about, GOOGLE will become the juggernaut of the consoles.

It's obvious that those consumer's are in the minority and won't be the one's standing in line on launch day.

The all in one system idea isn't the problem. It's the drm, online check, lending game restrictions, always on kinect. None of which are required for the all in one system to work.[QUOTE="MarcRecon"]

Trying something new? You think that shoving B.S down our thoughts is being innovative? What they are telling me is that I'm a brainwashed consumer and we can take you for granted because we know your gonna buy I product anyway.

Â
I'm not disputing the fact that the way they are implementing it is wrong, but it's because the environment doesn't support it. The used games and unavailable internet make these policies unfriendly. But someday there will be no used games, and it will be for the better.
Â
I predict a GOOGLE console will bring this about.
Â
From a consumer standpoint however, the only issue remaining for me is 24 hour check in. I don't like that. They retracted used games DRM so that's good as well.

I'm waiting for launch to see if that's the case.
I know when Steam first came out it peed all over consumers too, but it proved to be the best method of delivering games, and content to gamers ever. Gaming has never been more accessible than it is now on PC, and we can thank Steam for that.
We'll just see the direction MS goes with the Xbox One. If there is absolutely no trade-off for any of the inconveniences then it could be bad, but it could also turn out to be a powerhouse all-digital system that provides an enormous amount of content for an awesome price (as long as you have internet).
I don't think it is a dumb decision. Do you really think the consoles are going to drastically drop in price or drop off the face of the earth anytime soon. Some people like the games that are coming out on or near launch, and have the cash to pay for a new console. Seriously it has been seven years since the PS3 was released, I am kind of tired of it.
I would love to pick up a PS4 at launch, but I can't just drop $400+$60(PS+)+$120(2 games) on a console with limited library when I have a couple PCs that need some loving. $400 of hardware and $200 of games on steam and indie bundle sites would make X1 or PS4 seem like a fart.Â
Maybe I'll pick up the controllers if they're officially supported by Windows/Steam.
Buying video games is a bad investment.MonsieurXHow so? You definitely get your money's worth from video games, compared to other entertainment mediums. $60 for fifteen hours of entertainment is a good investment.
I dont care what other gamers do with there money. They want it at launch, kudos to them.
Personally, I never get a launch console, Id rather just wait a few months or a year to see whats in store.
