By the end of 2008, I would have given 9,856 fanboys 487 valid reasons why their console of choice is getting its ass kicked by the Wii STILL, and none of them will have accepted any of them.Michael85

Im sorry, but when you said th e360 is maxed out and PS3s first gen games will do what 360 can never dream of, you officaly went down a few levels on the intellegence meter. 360's capabilities tapped out with Gears of War (like the Dreamcast tapped out with Soul Calibur).
PS3's online service is free and pretty much equal to XBL (if not, then better).
With both games and power on its side, there would be no reason NOT to buy a PS3 (if you're a gamer, of course).
The Halo series has lost it.
Screenshot comparisons are worthless, and will evolve to video comparisons.
No one will take the Wii's success seriously, and people would categorize it in the "family entertainment" market.

BTW: Both Consoles gaems will look almost the same, the only difference makers will be exclusive games. The hardware has roughly th esame power with PS3 havein gadvantages and 360 having advantages. Dont make it sound like the PS3 is so much superior when its not.

the closest game to S.C on the DC was Shenmue.... and although it was a massive game for its time, it still didn't look nearly as good.

Anyone who fails to recognize Too Human as *the* most important title this generation is not a gamer. Name any other title that has been in development on *all three* of the Big Three (Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft) platforms. Moving from PS1 to GCN to Xbox 360 ... Too Human has been in development a long time, take a look at their site sometime, the amount of mythology research they put into it that they reveal to fans is *insane* - let alone their own research.
Anyone denying that Too Human is something that shouldnot be hotly anticipated isn't a gamer - that's all there is to it - it's beyond fanboyism, it's like pretending Chrono Trigger isn't a JRPG - it's a punishable offense.

at this point, there is just no way a game can take a massive graphical overhaul. minor improvements, maybe but that's all you're really going to get.
fact is, there are already games that look better, and with the name halo has established up until now, it's dissappointing.
people really shouldn't assume who's enjoying their systems... in system wars. you're participating in this forum too, don't forget that.
no one's in it for a console victory party, people just want to see that they are right.

Blue Dragon is the spiritual succesor to Chrono Trigger, it is definately one of those games we'll look back on and go "wow, y'know, that was an amazing title". We're not in the era of JRPGs that we were in when Chrono Trigger released, but you've got the same game developer, the same character designer, and a years more experience between them. Will it be Chrono Trigger again? no... but I've seen the first hour of gameplay, and it plays, looks, and feels *solid* - honestly it's a breath of fresh air compared to Final Fantasy XII, which just totally failed to live up to the Final Fantasy name.
The only real fault with BD is that Toriyama's character design's are somewhat similar to his DBZ characters, at least visually, and DBZ was never well dubbed, nor were any of the games good - however this is not the case with BD. It was well-received in Japan - it and Gears of War are the things that sold it. Sakaguchi is spot on - he's funny too, his dream game is to make a surfing game that teaches people about global warming...

BD brings almost NOTHING new to the JRPG genre. Solid title, yes... but revolutionary? NO FREAKING WAY. it's the same 'ol turn-based stuff man, with dragons replacing limit-breaks. it's a hi-res Dragon Quest 8.
Toriyama IS the character designer, and creator of DBZ. i'm honestly questioning your knowledge here. He's also the character designer for Dragon Quest, Tobal, and Chrono Trigger. i don't understand how you wouldn't know that, being such a faithful follower of BD.

if it really is THE game you're cracking it up to be, then it would have had a bigger impact in Japan.
FFXII was not the best FF, but it got the job done actually trying to implement new gameplay, and again, is a respected title. when you have majority review scores in the 90% area, i think you got a pretty good game there buddy.

Look, I appreciate the PS3 - and i'm really glad you have time time frame right - end of 2008 is when the PS3 titles are coming, but please, spare me the "list of games" - arguement for Too Human. Yeah yeah, PGR4 and Alan Wake are pretty "list-o-games" - dropping Bioshock (system shock 2 spiritual sequel), Blue Dragon (chrono trigger's spiritual sequel) and Too Human (...there's nothing to say here, I think it might cure cancer...) is *huge* - you can even ignore Halo 3 (system seller) from the debate, when it comes down to talking about games for gamers - those three are it - and when you add Halo 3, the "pop star" of the 360, I don't know.
Halo 2 still has a huge following, three years later, so just pretending we're all going to jump on the PS3 is short-sighted. The Too Human and Mass Effect trilogies will still be being released in late 2008, and Halo Wars will be coming out... plus, Gears 2...

blue dragon a spiritual successor to chrono? i know sakaguchi would want it to be that way, but its not. BD is my most anticipated on 360 so far... but i wouldn't give it that much praise. It's respected in Japan, but not that much.
Blue Dragon is the spiritual succesor to Chrono Trigger, it is definately one of those games we'll look back on and go "wow, y'know, that was an amazing title". We're not in the era of JRPGs that we were in when Chrono Trigger released, but you've got the same game developer, the same character designer, and a years more experience between them. Will it be Chrono Trigger again? no... but I've seen the first hour of gameplay, and it plays, looks, and feels *solid* - honestly it's a breath of fresh air compared to Final Fantasy XII, which just totally failed to live up to the Final Fantasy name.
The only real fault with BD is that Toriyama's character design's are somewhat similar to his DBZ characters, at least visually, and DBZ was never well dubbed, nor were any of the games good - however this is not the case with BD. It was well-received in Japan - it and Gears of War are the things that sold it. Fail reading comprehension much? I know that Toriyama is the creator of DBZ and the charcter designer in Chrono Trigger. That's why I said it is a FAULT that his character designs look so similar to the designs we've been seeing for the last decade. There aren't going to be a lot of people picking up Blue Dragon who haven't seen an episode of Dragonball - we're so used to his designs that we start associating them with other memorable characters, rather than having them stand on their own.
Spirits Within was a mistake, he's a game designer, not a film maker, and when he went into another medium thinks got hairy for him. Whatever, it happens. Michael Jordan tried to play baseball - that didn't dimish his skills on the basketball court, did it?
To say Sakaguchi isn't that great is ignorant - he worked on Final Fantasy XII, but it does fail to live up to the earlier titles. Sakaguchi was more hands off with that title, and in interviews he has said he's tired of seeing the Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest line of games - Square-Enix needs to do something different. Frankly, I'm glad Sakaguchi is doing Blue Dragon, and I think he mostly gets grief because Sony fanboys don't like the idea of the creator and genius behind the Final Fantasy series saying "the PS3 sucks, I'm working on the 360".

Zuh? Alan Wake certainly does look beautiful, but it in now way "holds a candle" to Crysis.
Mass Effect, while highly detailed, lacks the texture quality within Gears of War.

Xbox and Game Cube were technologically superior when compared to the ps2 last gen, its not a great factor, 360 I believe isn't tapped out yet anyway, but the thing is its cheaper to buy, easier to develop for, has superior online, everythings connected (ie. I can talk to someone playing uno when playing gears), graphics are great (not saying ps3 doesn't have better eye candy potential) etc. I was watching Bonus Round on game trailers and the lead guy of Naughty Dog (Resistance developers) favours the 360. And also on bonus round Jaffe, God of War creator and Sony employee, says Sony made a mistake intergrating blu ray.PS3 has the most potential, with the latter end its 1st gen games exceeding anything possible on 360.

However the games don't look beter and often look worse and the development costs required to make those great looking games are so inhibitive that they will be few and far between. Also because people aren't buying the PS3 less games will be exclusive for it. Doesn't matter how powerful it is, so either way the systems serious gamers will want will be the 360 and PS3 because thats where the.. you know... games are.

So, because a game has been in development for ten years and switched from interface to interface, that makes it worthy of note?
Whilst the rendering on the game is admirable, the mechanics, I can tell, are gonna be cheezy. I'm not going to lose any sleep over its loss.
I like some backstory to my games as well, but too much mythology is why I got fed up with Elder Scrolls. The Star Control series was the only one that could pull it off with tact.

I never said it had an inferior GPU. And as far as development cost falling, by then it'll be too late as devlopers have already started moving on to other consoles where they can actually turn a profit.
