It mixes ragdoll physics with predefined animations. Like in Halo 3.

But saying it doesn't have any physics is complete rubbish.

Most of the CPU usage is used up for the graphics, but it still manages to use a simple physics engine that simulates ragdolls, props, and the path of grenades.

Call of Duty 4 barely has any physics

Painballz

Corrected. And I agree, the environmental interactivity in this game is so outdated it hurts.

But please, everyone knows you despise consoles and CoD4. Don't have to spam threads about your opinion every chance you get, just forget what you hate and enjoy what you like.

You don't get what I'm saying..

They both use normal animation and ragdoll physics. I don't care if they act differently, I know they do.

I'm just explaining how it works.

COD 2 didn't have any 'current tech' physics either. It was promised for cod 2, but was taken out because the framerate wouldn't stay high enough. Guess they decided to do the same in COD 4, just to keep up a high framerate on both consoles.

Now explain why it couldn't have physics on the pc and keep a good framerate?

true, all the animations are canned, the developers were talking about it before the game even came out. Just means there's no overhead for physics calculations.

Not really. The PC version of COD4 is clearly superiour. Much better textures and a higher server player count.

Of course it has physics.

It also has ragdoll, but that only seems to work after the death animation.

CoD has never had physics, IW have made a choice not to put it in ever sine the series started. What's the point? it's an arcade shooter.

even so, it is a FUN game. Does anyone remember what that was like? When we all weren't so preoccupied with over-the-top graphics, supposed innovation, and even real world physics. I like realism in certain games, but I like nonsense too, as long as its fun and entertaining.

I don't think anyone really cares about physics unless it's being touted as a major feature.

Side note: To anyone who read the recently locked topic about Cows not having any AAAs, for the record, I am not a Cow like I was accused of being. I've owned my 360 since December 06 and didn't own a PS3 until a year later. I made this account shortly after making my Live account.

HeroOfCows

Not exactly, see - Cell Factor Revolution.

Physics was the major selling point, to get people to buy PhysX PPUs
Though the game sucked, and was a bit of technical mess, even though the amount of physic affected objects in the game was astounding.
Thus it didnt recieve much attention

Then look at games like Crysis where physics are simply part of the gameplay, but its so good you, and implemented so well, you get a huge response from gamers of how fantastic it is, and what the physics are capable of (e.g. Crysis Mass Physics - on youtube).

Heck even look at games like Half Life 2. Physics were also just part of the gameplay. Even though it wasent on the scope of Crysis, it got a huge response because of how implemented it is.

Thats what sets apart these games from titles like Jurassic Park: Tresspasser - which was one of the first FPS (very ahead of its time) to heavily implement physics, problem is the game just wasent very good.

i agree that the physics are lacking in COD4... often times, when im naded, i fall straight to the ground, rather than flying backwardss as was realistically intended. plus... hitting objects such as computer screens on desks in levels such as broadcast shows that the physics arent at the level they should be at.

look, we play games for fun.

If physics make a game more fun, by all means throw it in.

COD4 obviously didn't need it.

More devs need to focas on stuff like that.

No he is right, try throwing a grendage at an arab hiding behind a flammable barrel of oil. "Simple physics", as you put it, would dictate that the barrel would maybe **move**...maybe an inch even; possibly explode. Not on COD, it be indetructable, and bolted to the gound! Cars are also bolted to the groun, how useful. Sorry but the immersion in this game is lol,. Now try the same thing in Crysis. /thread

This is all because the game is multiplat and suffers due to the garbage hardware limitations of consoles.Really sad how PC gaming suffers due to these people who play on consoles.

Why do you keep bashing COD4...it's on PC as well...

Or is that what you are resorted to now, bashing games that are multiplat, can't find any system exclusives to bash?

CoD4 is about how linear and uninteractive an FPS can become, yet it's fantastic. Infinity Ward is just that good. So not gonna work for the next CoD though.
