Call of Duty 4 is currently a horrible experience on PSN

The real question is why are you still playing Call of duty 4?

Its getting out of hand, I went into RDR online the other day and saw a player just floating around in the sky above one of the towns, that may have been some super glitch but I'm chalking it up to a hack since I sw 2 others doing it. Sony needs to be much more strict, it was ok when the system was still uncracked but now its happened and they need to grab their ban hammers.

The real question is why are you still playing Call of duty 4?

GT5 is fine and thats all I care about screw all the FPS games lol :P.

I tend to believe IW has a lot to do with this. For example, having my stats wiped in MW2. So hackers are able to change stats that are on IW's servers? Thats a security problem on their end. Its pretty sad. Only IW games are compromised this bad.

What a load of horse poop. That's why I pay for Live. But I agree, if it is free like lake water, then who cares if there is some fish poop in my drink.

UC2 online is not fine in terms of cheaters, it may not have hackers, but it has a lot of glitchers that go inside the maps and walls.

Killzone 2 on the other hand is perfectly fine.

I play Killzone 2 online all the time (played 5 games just yesterday without any problems) and I haven't encountered any hacking. A video you saw on youtube doesnt mean its common.

There are no hacks on Killzone 2 from what I have experienced and heard, there are only out of the map glitches and people who lagswitch.

I just dont understand how people can derive enjoment from cheating on an online game, its just so unrewarding

I can't vouch for COD4, but PS3 MW2 is a train wreck as well. Nothing like seeing the kill cam with a mod menu. Or getting deranked with a nice message of how I was owned, and a new clan tag that rhymes with hunt. Or somehow coming out at lvl 70 with all the guns unlocked with zero pro perks, and 5 hours game time.

Some of the lobbies won't even let you hit the start button to quit.

It's bad.

But the MW2 hacks have nothing to do with the whole Failoverfl0w Geohotz thing. It involves programs that existed for sometime now and a PC.

You do need host to run this crap and of course there is an option to force host. It's really bad.

IW blames Sony, and thanks to Activision having BO out they won't be doing a thing.

Now I don't know if being able to sign code now thanks to the new hack is going to make this worse, but I would assume eventually someone will be able to write a program to run on the PS3 that is signed, and the stupid cheaters can then skip the whole PC part.

At any rate, if you try to play COD on PS3, either don't take it serious AT ALL, and maybe make a BS account you don't care about. Or give it up and try it on PC. At least the PC version of MW2 has some options that you can find to help keep the hackers in check....Google can fill you in on that if you care enough.

The problem comes from Activision, not the Hack.

The hack just made it easier, but such problems were found early on the life of the game, on all 3 platforms.

There is a reason why you wont find such problems on other online games. Anyway, Activision deserves it. Such a crappy corporation deserves the worst.

they should just start banning hackers as much as possible. i wanna see those kids do lulz when their precious CoDs don't work anymore.

Um, hackers are not "prevented" on the PC. There are hackers all over the place, it's just that on the PC the community has the right and the ability to tag em and bag em and eventually they don't come 'round these parts anymore.

And if you think "anti hack programs" are sufficient to prevent hacks, think again. MW2 was treated like a joke by hackers, I personally saw people fly-scooting around the map and shooting volleys of grenade launchers, why? Because it didn't have any community report feature or votekick/voteban, the servers were all made on the fly and they weren't moderated by players, in fact they weren't moderated at all, and that's the only way to get rid of hackers. Hackers treat VAC like a running joke, it does nothing.

:| What are you talking about.. The security of pc games are absolutely free.. Thigns like VAC under steam are quite effective.. And joining servers that are protected is another thing.. While others like the Blizzard system for games like Starcraft 2 are extremely potent in squashing every and all hackers.

I just had an extended gameplay session with COD4's muitiplayer on the PS3.

It is shredded, man. In my pesonal experience, I estimate almost half of all automatches had some kind of hack active. Volleys of grenades, cluster bombs, infinite ammo, super speed sprints, damage modifications....

And some more distressing ones, namely that the rate of host departure's after loading the game increased multiple times in frequency. Also, after hosting for many hours my own public listen server (I was tagged the host), someone joined and ran, I guess a script that hoisted host control to someone else. Lobbies close randomly, servers crash, and there is a great deal of mayhem in many games.

The reporting/support infrastructure on PSN needs to be immediately improved up to Xbox Live standards if Sony wants to maintain even a hope of implementing a proprietary network policed and controlled from the top down. I'm being thrown in random servers with a bunch of hackers who are being designated the hosts and making lobbies into their own personal playpens. COD4 is, in it's current state, taken with all the other quirks, like no host swapping, random drops and random pings/connection strength, virtually unplayable.

Add your own reports of misery on COD games, report on the state of PSN hacks at large, and generally provide suggestions for improvementto make PSN a more stable environment below..
