"... With a scheduled release date of November 2010 the game is still in full development but undisclosed sources over at Activision have stated that "Call of Duty 7 will be set in recent history, between WWII and present day". Besides this information the sources have also confirmed that some missions will take us to Cuba and South America, hinting again in the direction of a Cold War / Vietnam based game.

Also revealed was that in certain missions the players are able to play as a member of SAS (the Special Air Service), the principle special forces unit of the British Army. One of these SAS missions pitches you in close combat during a mission in the Iranian embassy in London during the 1980's.

It has also been confirmed that Call of Duty 7: Black Ops will feature the popular zombie mode, in which players get to shoot down hordes of zombies, a feature that could not be seen in the Infinity Ward produced Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

And last but not least, dedicated servers will also be part of the new Call of Duty game, much to the delight of PC gamers across the world. After Activision fired Vince Zampella and Jason West from Infinity Ward, it seems like they are taking yet another step back from the direction they had taken with Modern Warfare 2 by re-adding dedicated servers.
"

SOURCE

Interesting. Glad to see Zombies and dedicated servers are returning. The game appears to be set partially in the Vietnam war, but not entirely. I'm intrigued, especially as Treyarch developed my favorite game in the series: World at War. Does anyone here care about this new entry in the CoD series, or are you all CoD'd out?

Yeah, dedicated servers we'll have to pay for with a monthly subscription, I suppose. And are they really calling it COD 7: Black Ops? It just sounds dumb, in my opinion.

Edit: Though I still like Treyarch more than Infinity Ward. Either way, this will likely be the last Call of Duty game I buy.

I'm looking foward to the game, and I hope the online is not as chaotic and unbalanced as MW2.

I know that praising a CoD game is blasphemy around here, but I would be very interested to see what a CoD game would be like in that era. And Treyarch made me eat crow because I enjoyed WaW very much. I'll keep a lookout for it.

I think I may be missing out on this one. Granted I only played one Call of Duty game (which was Modern Warfare and I LOVE that game), and I love to get into the series more, but I just don't think I'll get this one. Maybe it has to do with the fact about West and Zampella being fired.

Might pick this up if they don't pop some retarded stuff on us 2 weeks before release.

lol I can see Kotick pulling off something like "By the way, your credit card will be charged every hour of play. Campaign and multiplayer"

Black Ops, heh? I sincerely hope that isn't a Spec Ops rip off with a few Zombie missions thrown in. Because that would be very lame of Treyarch and would solidify my opinion that Treyarch only rips off of IW. However, I may seriously consider buying this game if Black Ops isn't a rip of Spec Ops because a Cold War game sounds really cool. Here's hoping treyarch doesn't disguest me!

MW2 already sux, COD4 they pulled alot of good things out, i didn't really like 2, or 3, 1 was pro which i played until 4 came out played tons of WAW and then mw2 just bombed w/e fun was in the series with over complicating the MP with too much crap and cheap ways to kill people.

I played the hell out of CoD4, so I'm burned out on the multiplayer since is almost the exact same, but I still found a lot to complain about:

-Campaign was short and pretty lame.

-I hate the kill streaks.

-Assault rifles are overpowered. SMGs are completely irrelevent.

-They made the shotguns more powerful, and decided to make them secondary. Wat?

-Machine pistols are too powerful for secondary weapon too.

-Dudes spawn BEHIND you, giving you no chance to defend yourself all to often (minor complaint)

-Maps are just plain bad. Sub base is the only one I like.

The map you are referring to is Invasion. It's a fun one for Team Deathmatch, but I personally think it fails for objective gametypes. Point B on Domination sort of leans to the American side more than OpFor since they have a giant crate giving them cover for it.

Treyarch actually cares about the PC. World at War on the PC had much better support than Call of Duty 4.

Ummm, no... CoD3 was just completely terrible and CoD4 was way better than WaW.

Disagree.

I dunno....CoD3 did suck, but MW2 is the end all an be all of pathetic-ness

[QUOTE="Guppy507"] MW2 and this new game are on the same level of terrible, but I agree with everything else you said.

Sorry, I shouldn't say the new one is awful. I'll say it will likely be awful.

Guppy507

i dont like mw2 either. so un balanced and getting owned by double shot guns from a mile away ruined it for me lol....mw1 is still my top played

I hate to break this to you, but submachine guns are completely irrelevant in real life. No professional armies equip their soldiers with submachine gun, this is pure videogame fantasy. Submachine guns started being useless right around the time we started using kevlar, which defeats most submachine gun rounds. Because they use pistol rounds, they're weak, have terrible penetration, short maximum ranges, huge trajectory arcs, and low velocity, thus long travel time.

Also, the spawn system is not a minor complaint, it was completely broken in Call of Duty 4. Instead of fixing it, now you spawn underneath an AC130 which promptly mows you and your teammates down. Spawn systems have to be coordinated, otherwise whoever spawns facing the other dude's back wins.

Treyarch > Infinity Ward? Dedicated servers, Zombies, and possibly gore?

Treyarch>>>>IW for a long time now.

lol what?...COD2 owns treyarch's COD3....Modern warfare owns COD5....MW2 will own this game. IW is on another level.

WaW Multiplayer is far better than MW2 one though, at least on PC
