GTA has managed to continue to improve on its gameplay, though, whereas Call of Duty has seen little innovation since the original Modern Warfare. Look at GTA3, then compare it to GTA4-- GTA4 absolutely eats GTA3 for breakfast as far as immersion and production values are concerned. That is the advantage of GTA's model vs. Call of Duty's. GTA does not release games nearly as often, and when they do release one they put everything they can into it. Call of Duty is on an anual release model, and it's only a matter of time before it becomes semi-anual like Tony Hawk and Guitar Hero did. If CoD continues to completely dwarf anything else in Activision's portfolio, they will ask themselves "why are we only releasing this once a year?" And then that is where it will end-- assuming people don't just get tired of playing the same game every year with new maps before then.Nah, GTA will die before COD does.
COD will go on forever.
