Skipping it too. I decided to stop wasting my time and my money with COD series after I played that piece of junk called BO2. I really don't care what score this one gets.

A 9 from GameSpot for a CoD tells me absolutely nothing about how good the game is.

War is a superb adaptation of the classic MP Rush mode

Emotional and riveting campaign

Headquarters is a well-crafted social hub

Engaging multiplayer progression system

Takes Call of Duty back to its roots while delivering a thoroughly new experience

Zombies mode is both involving and challenging

I'm very glad COD is back to WWII

Now they need to continue the trend, and take each COD more and more back to its roots.

You'll feel good about it. I did the same thing a couple times and it always felt better than buying into this crap. I'm on PC though which has to be even worse than the console versions. Beta was like going back in time 20 years in terms of gameplay. We were all running in a circle shooting each other with no rime or reason who killed who. It was very funny that a big company like Activision made it, in 2017 none the less.

If you want really old gameplay that does still feel good, I can recommend the free Unreal Tournament game by Epic.

I'm very interested to see all the content that has been added since the beta.

You gotta try those übercommanders, they are a campaign in and of itself.

The last übercommander missions, I won't give away too much, but it's just a giant throwback to Wolfenstein 3D. It's an entirely unique level.

Still need to get AC: Origins and Fractured Butthole myself :P

Stands to reason. Battlefield 1 brought historic setting back I figured this COD would get a better reception then the futuristic crap they were peddling.

That's SW in a nutshell. So many "know it alls" here. Just remember you don't have to justify anything in your life to anybody else, least of all here. I'll play this after I get my 1X.

I'm one who has hated on COD over the years, but I feel a lot of hate was deserved.

And a lot of that criticism pushed Activision/cod developers to do better, and to luckily find a return in a WWII setting.

But I just see so much hating these days, on all kinds of games, and 99% of the time people haven't even played the game and never intend to.

Youtube, steam forums, gamespot ... So much hating on games these days. Just find one thing wrong with any game and hate on it forever.

If the game doesn't suffer from major launch issues, that 9 is a keeper.

And this thread is different from the other threads about COD.

CoD is still big. Just like mario, it can have multiple threads.

Gaming isn't the only entertainment I'm passionate about. I have collected and read comics since I was 7 years old and am a film fan. But I don't encounter the negativity in those circles that I do in gaming. Its really pathetic. Film buffs don't call for Paramount to fold up their business because they have enjoyed more films distributed by Warner Bros. We have people that actually root for companies to leave the industry in gaming. Like, not buying a company's products and going on with your life isn't enough. They actively root against games and competition in the industry. LOL

This is what people don't understand, its modern day bribe.

If you don't give us a good review, you will not be invited again and therefore fall behind other outlets which do get the experience the game earlier. And you will fall behind.

Oh my goodness I just read about it. Oh dear. The ways they try and make you watch other people's loot boxes as advertisement.

That makes me angry. That shouldn't be in a game let alone be accepted by a CRITIC. For fucks sake. First the two patents and then this. Activision is really getting on my bad side. This is like Destiny showing you in the lower left what awesome drops someone got without a trade system. So all you can do is be like 'I wanted that.' At least you couldn't buy those items in Destiny, I think?

I'm also curious about this review 'event'. Did people get paid? A ride in a helicopter? Some beautiful Activision prostitutes doing a lap dance? Or was it clean? I would love to know because I don't trust those psychopaths one bit. They already let go of any semblance of ethics. They've gone so far they can pretty much do whatever they want now.

Anyway, played a few hours in online modes now. And spent some time in the headquarters virtual space.

Had a lot of fun ! People will call lootboxes pay 2 win for sure, but there is just so much stuff to unlock. And it seems like every 5 minutes of playtime you are awarded something.

So playing seems the way to get stuff, and I like that.

What are your impressions so far ? Played SP, zombies, MP ?

Dunno the exact playercounts. But for sure COD has smaller player numbers than other games, but maps are designed that way too :)

It may sure seem that way from an outside view but ... I mean this'll be hard to explain but the lootboxes are actually fun.

I remember playing SW: Battlefront and being absolutely annoyed by the 5th or so lootbox I had opened. The system was absolutely stupid, mindnumbing.

Here Sledgehammer actually designed a fun system.

Yeah you can watch other people open a lootbox, but honestly everyone seems to get the same 'level' stuff anyway, so there is no frustration, jealousy or feelings leading to "GRRRRRGH I need to spend money to get what that guy had"

I was opening a lootbox (seriously you get like 5 of these, every hour of playtime)

And when I got to see my stuff, some guy walked by and his face went: "Hmm ?" and then he walked past. It was just hilarious to see that reaction, walking by me, turning his head, than walking past.

Seriously, the lootbox system is fun.

But it's kinda hard to explain if you haven't experienced it :)

I've decided to stop buying CoD games. Last CoD game I bought was BO3. The over-emphasis of loot boxes is a huge turnoff and it appears to be over the top in CoD:WWII. Nope, I'll pass.

I was quite impressed with d day footage. than after watching more i was dissapointed. game looks too scripted and QTE.

steam reviews annd metacritic reviews are negative so far mostly. SP is very short.
