So like me, you game on PC, but do you play on a console as well? Let your voice be heard!

Some additional questions...

What's your % of playtime between systems?

Are you more drawn to games that feature plenty of modded content, or a fan of straight vanilla games?

How often do you upgrade your hardware?

Have you had any formal schooling, whether HS or Uni, in computer science of any kind?

Is your rig pre-built, custom built, or both?

Have you owned, or would you ever purchase a Mac for gaming?

---

I play on PC about 30% of the time. 360(50%), PSP(10%), and cell phone(10%) gaming takes up the rest. That adds up to 100, right?

I try it look at it as more of a learning experince when a game isn't working the way it should. You find yourself feeling great once you've figured out how to fix a problem.

Have you ever had a PSU fail and damage your system?

Only once. I recently had an 500PSU and it started to fail on me when i started overclocking my i7920.

What was your first computer(i.e. Amiga, x86, Mac, Intel CPU, AMD CPU, Geforce, 3dfx)?

can't remember

Have you ever struck your system out of anger?

never..

Have you ever pirated a game?

Admitting to piracy is againist TOS...and no

I felt these questions would reveal more than what a simple 'Yes or No' type poll would be capable of. These were just the ones I could think of off the top of my head.Additional questions I had were...

Have you ever built a PC for somebody else?

I changed my 2nd line of questions to remove the pirating question. I wasn't aware it was againt TOU. My bad guys.

---

@Dante2710

Heck yeah! Gears 3 is gonna be amazing!

No. Used Mac before and absolutely hate everything about it. Anything it can do, PC does best. Not better, best. There is no advantage whatsoever. As you can tell, I'm an extreme Mac hater.

ChubbyGuy40

 *High-five*

I own a PC for the RTS. Consoles have outsripped PCs even in terms of FPS at this point though.

magnax1

I'm kinda the same way, but I use my PC for indie games a lot too. Humble Indie Bundles rock the house!

Have you ever struck your system out of anger?

I suppose, I hit mine almost every day 'cause some part of it vibrates annoyingly, and the only way to fix it is with hitting it.

Inconsistancy

Nice. I gotta do that too, but I'll admit that I've hit my tower on more than one occasion out of pure rage. One time I hit it and got a "boxers break". I learned my place after that.:P

I love it when games have mod support as it extends the life of that title

Have you ever built a PC for somebody else?

I've shown them which parts they should get but I didn't build it

Do you find troubleshooting to be fun or annoying?

Very annoying. I just want to play games. Did anybody know you have to play battlefield 2 in windows 95 mode in windows 7 to play? Why the hell is that? Took me literally three hours to figure that out.

Have you ever had a PSU fail and damage your system?

No

I play on my PC pretty much 100%. At one point I owned all 3 next gen systems, but I just wasn't getting anything out of them. I do still play on my Dreamcast and Saturn though :)

60% PC. 40% other. Modded content is a plus, but I'm usually content with vanilla. Upgrade every couple years. No I have not. Pre-built. No. I would not purchase a Mac for quite a few reasons, actually. And actually, since I've downloaded Minecraft, my play percentage may be like 95% PC.

0. No. With "XBox 360 controller For Windows", my gaming laptop is basically like Xbox 360 console.

1. 100 percent PC.

2. Neutral. When required, mod is OK.

3. For tax purpose, every 2 to 3 years.

4. BSci - Computing. Mostly work on C++/MFC/ATL/Win32 for day job.

5. Custom

6. No. Unmodified retail MacOS X 10.6 DVD works fine on my Dell laptop. 2007 and 2010 MacBook Pro was not competitive. 2011 MacBook Pro with AMD Radeon HD 6750M(~30-35 watts)seems nice.

My first pc was a Compaq with a Pentium 3 600 Mhz, Geforce 4 MX 440, 192 Mb of ram and a 20 Gb HDD

So like me, you game on PC, but do you play on a console as well? Let your voice be heard!

Xbox, Gamecube, Xbox 360, Wii, DS (Very rarely), Android (rarely for gaming). I also own a PlayStation and an Atari 2600 but I haven't actually used either of them XD I just like to collect them.

What's your % of playtime between systems?

90% PC 10% other

Are you more drawn to games that feature plenty of modded content, or a fan of straight vanilla games?

More drawn towards the previous. Buying unmoddable games at expensive prices often feels like a rip-off when adding support is completely realistic.

How often do you upgrade your hardware?

Whenever the need arises for it to be changed. I could be satisfied with a mid-range (for gaming) 2005 PC though really.

Have you had any formal schooling, whether HS or Uni, in computer science of any kind?

I'm studying year 12 at the moment though I will likely do a University course in programming or computer engineering (I don't need to make up my mind yet). Otherwise, I've half completed a computer course known as "Ares Maintenance & Repair: Hardware" (Though that isn't anything to do with computer science, really)

Is your rig pre-built, custom built, or both?

Custom-designed.

Have you owned, or would you ever purchase a Mac for gaming?

There are ethical issues that prevent me from buying Macs. Though if this were not the case, I could consider buying a MacBook Air at some point to play olderish games.

Have you ever built a PC for somebody else?

Well, I built one and then gave it away. It was made out of free parts.

Do you find troubleshooting to be fun or annoying?

It can be fun. A bit like maths, I suppose. Though I prefer Linux troubleshooting (Fixing conflicts that YOU installed in order to get some sort of benefit) to Windows (Why the heck won't this game just work?!) troubleshooting.

Have you ever had a PSU fail and damage your system?

Not for me.

What was your first computer(i.e. Amiga, x86, Mac, Intel CPU, AMD CPU, Geforce, 3dfx)?

AMD-K7 CPU with SoundBlaster Live! sound and Savage2000 graphics.

Have you ever struck your system out of anger?

No lol.

A PC gamer, use my PS3 for Blu-ray movies because PS3 can't do FULL HD 1080P in many games.

you game on PC, but do you play on a console as well? Let your voice be heard!

Yup. PS2 (mostly FIFA) and Wii

What's your % of playtime between systems?

90% PC

Are you more drawn to games that feature plenty of modded content, or a fan of straight vanilla games?

Depends on the game. FSX with Mods. Crysis games pretty much vanilla. I waste time with mods only on games I deem having unlimited replayability.

How often do you upgrade your hardware?

PC 4-5 years with a video card upgrade every 2-3 years. Once I upgrade, the old PC remains in use. Average expenditure on a new PC: $700-$750.

Have you had any formal schooling, whether HS or Uni, in computer science of any kind?

Of course

Is your rig custom built?

Of course.

Have you owned, or would you ever purchase a Mac for gaming?

We also own Macs (Minis). But they're not for gaming.

2. None.

It was an Intel/Nvidia rig, my dad bought for the family, when that failed due to the PSU, i went ahead and built a new AMD rig, since it was time for a new computer, and it was the first time i built a computer, felt leet on that day.

I play on PC about 30% of the time. 360(50%), PSP(10%), and cell phone(10%) gaming takes up the rest. That adds up to 100, right?

gamecubepad

1. I play on PC about 75% of the time. 10% of the time on PS3. 10% on the 360. 5% on Wii or PSP.

2. Depends on the quality of the mods, but generally I see fan-made content as a huge plus for PC gaming.

3. Every few years.

4. Have taken lots of computer science courses in college, but not my main focus.

5. Custom built. I will likely never buy a pre-built PC.

6. Macs are overpriced. I prefer the PC platform (Windows or Linux).

What's your % of playtime between systems?

I'd say it's pretty even.

Are you more drawn to games that feature plenty of modded content, or a fan of straight vanilla games?

For the most part I stick to vanilla games. Some games I mod heavily though, like Oblivion for example.

How often do you upgrade your hardware?

Used my previous pc for about 6 years.

Have you had any formal schooling, whether HS or Uni, in computer science of any kind?

No.

Is your rig pre-built, custom built, or both?

Custom built.

Have you owned, or would you ever purchase a Mac for gaming?

No.

So like me, you game on PC, but do you play on a console as well? Let your voice be heard!

Some additional questions...

What's your % of playtime between systems?

95% PC, 5% split between xbox and ps3
Are you more drawn to games that feature plenty of modded content, or a fan of straight vanilla games?

Modded games

How often do you upgrade your hardware?

Had my PC for well over a year now, never upgraded, and have no real need to.
Have you had any formal schooling, whether HS or Uni, in computer science of any kind?
No. With enough motivation, any idiot can build a computer
Is your rig pre-built, custom built, or both?
Custom
Have you owned, or would you ever purchase a Mac for gaming?

HELL NO!

---

I play on PC about 30% of the time. 360(50%), PSP(10%), and cell phone(10%) gaming takes up the rest. That adds up to 100, right?

I own pc as well as 360, ps3, and wii. Pc obviously gets the most play though i'm waiting for my gtx 570 to arrive before i jump into crysis 2 and get back into shogun 2. The PS3 is my ps2 basically, 360 is just for halo reach lately, and the wii is just another netflix device that would otherwise collect dust as it is mostly crap imo considering that no one in this house hold or within my immediate peers enjoys it aside from watching movies on it when all other devices are in use.

What's your % of playtime between systems? About 100% 360 right now. But when your PC can only run AoEII and StarCraft, it kind of defeats the purpose of putting time into it (especially when one has already invested thousands of hours in those games already).

Are you more drawn to games that feature plenty of modded content, or a fan of straight vanilla games? Depends on the game. I generally don't modify games that heavily. The only exception being Oblivion.

How often do you upgrade your hardware? I don't think I've ever paid to upgrade hardware. Unfortunately.

Have you had any formal schooling, whether HS or Uni, in computer science of any kind?
Nope, but I would like to get a degree in CS if I could, so I can build my own games.

Is your rig pre-built, custom built, or both? Custom built. Of mostly really old spare parts, lol.

Have you owned, or would you ever purchase a Mac for gaming?

I have an xbox 360.

What's your % of playtime between systems?
99 % PC.
Are you more drawn to games that feature plenty of modded content, or a fan of straight vanilla games?
Mainly vanilla.
How often do you upgrade your hardware?
Once every 2 years or so.
Have you had any formal schooling, whether HS or Uni, in computer science of any kind?

I did IT at school, however that doesn't mean much to me. Both my knowledge before and after has been through my own search.
Is your rig pre-built, custom built, or both?

Both.
Have you owned, or would you ever purchase a Mac for gaming?

Had a mac in th 90s, did basic gaming.

I'm pretty much a PC only gamer. I own a Wii that I don't use anymore but used to play religiously along with my PC, a PS3 that I got for Christmas and never haven't even touched and an Xbox 360 that red ringed on my bf 3 years ago and I fixed it myself just to play FF13(this was before I had the Ps3).

What's your % of playtime between systems?

99.9% PC, before it was around 50% Wii and 50% PC.

Are you more drawn to games that feature plenty of modded content, or a fan of straight vanilla games?

I like to play vanilla first then mod the hell out of the game. Some games, specially older games(with the exception of STALKER), I mod first to make it look pretty then play.

How often do you upgrade your hardware?

Every 2 to 3 years? I only do it when I can't play a game, which does not happen often.

Have you had any formal schooling, whether HS or Uni, in computer science of any kind?

Standard HS Computer Science but I already knew everything I had to know about computers since I was 8 years old, there was somethign abouut prying open my computer(both on the hardware and software side) and check how things worked.

Is your rig pre-built, custom built, or both?

Custom built primary desktop, my m11x alienware laptop is obviously pre-built though.

Have you owned, or would you ever purchase a Mac for gaming?

No, never. Macs are pretty much useless to me.

I own a PC, PS3 and a broken 360(still works if I just use the HDD and no disc). % time - PC 90%, PS3 7%, 360 3% Modded content available is always best. Why only have 1 choice when you can have 2 choices? I upgrade pretty often, but I usually have a lot of left over money to do so. Maybe once a year. No formal schooling, I learned it all by myself. Custom built by me of course. Never would purchase a Mac even for non-gaming, much less gaming.

Well I have a gaming PC,360,PS3,PS2,Dreacast and a Gamecube. >_>

What's your % of playtime between systems?

Hm,that's pretty hard to figure. I'll just split it between PC and Consoles (collectively all the consoles I own)

60% PC,and 40% consoles.That number will most likely change.

Are you more drawn to games that feature plenty of modded content, or a fan of straight vanilla games?

Modded.Mods greatly increase the life span of a game.Look at UT2004 for instance.I still find new maps for it today. But vanilla games have merit too.

How often do you upgrade your hardware?

I just built my first PC back in December.Only time will tell, probably about 2-3 years or so.

Have you had any formal schooling, whether HS or Uni, in computer science of any kind?

No.I'm self taught and did my own research. Also had some help in learning about PC's from a friend.

Is your rig pre-built, custom built, or both?

Custom

Have you owned, or would you ever purchase a Mac for gaming?

That's like asking a formula 1 driver if they'd ever purchase a minivan to use in the Indianapolis 500.

What's your % of playtime between systems?

99.9% PC. I also own a WII, a 360, a PSP and a DS but haven't bought a game for my consoles/handheld for more than a year

Are you more drawn to games that feature plenty of modded content, or a fan of straight vanilla games?

I'm drawn to good games but mods are always a bonus :)

How often do you upgrade your hardware?

I try to upgrade something at least once a year but mostly not out of need but just because I want to as it is a hobby of mine

Have you had any formal schooling, whether HS or Uni, in computer science of any kind?

When I built my rig I learned it all from doing research on the internet until later I took a National Diploma in computing

Is your rig pre-built, custom built, or both?

Custom built rig. I enjoy building rigs and they feel more personal

Have you owned, or would you ever purchase a Mac for gaming?

No just no

Own a PC, Xbox 360 and Wii

What's your % of playtime between systems?

Depends on which platform has the game I want. Most of my playtime is spent between 360 and PC though, but I play more on 360 due to games like Bayonetta, Vanquish, Tales of Vesperia, etc.

Are you more drawn to games that feature plenty of modded content, or a fan of straight vanilla games?

More of a fan of good vanilla games. If a game is good vanilla I feel like I got my money's worth, mods can only add to it.

How often do you upgrade your hardware?

Had current PC for only about a year, but it doesn't seem like I'll need to upgrade for a few years anyway, maybe two more years before I do.

Have you had any formal schooling, whether HS or Uni, in computer science of any kind?

Nope. Just the basics of knowing how to use the thing.

Is your rig pre-built, custom built, or both?

Custom.

Have you owned, or would you ever purchase a Mac for gaming?

Not in this lifetime.

What's your % of playtime between systems?

100% PC now.

Are you more drawn to games that feature plenty of modded content, or a fan of straight vanilla games?

I like when games have mods, but this isn't criteria that decides if I will buy a game or not

How often do you upgrade your hardware?

Every two-three years

Have you had any formal schooling, whether HS or Uni, in computer science of any kind?

I had in primary school and high school, but I already knew more about computers back then than the teachers did :)

Is your rig pre-built, custom built, or both?

Custom built, altough with little help from my friend. But I also game a lot on laptops.

Have you owned, or would you ever purchase a Mac for gaming?

No. Why would I? More expensive, inferior hardware, few games being OSX-native.

Heck..I also wouldn't buy Mac as a non-gaming computer. I did it once and quickly regretted my decision. It failed to satisfy my needs.

What's your % of playtime between systems?90% on PC - 10% on PS3

Are you more drawn to games that feature plenty of modded content, or a fan of straight vanilla games?Vanilla for me, too many games as it is to put time in mods.

How often do you upgrade your hardware?Small cheap upgrades about once a year, full overhaul like maybe 4-5 years.

Have you had any formal schooling, whether HS or Uni, in computer science of any kind?
Yes

Is your rig pre-built, custom built, or both? Custom

What's your % of playtime between systems?

Excluding iOS: 50% PC, 30% PS3, 18% DS, 2% PSP and 0% 360 (lent it out)

Are you more drawn to games that feature plenty of modded content, or a fan of straight vanilla games?

Mods are great. I'm always disappointed when games don't have modding communities.

How often do you upgrade your hardware?

About once every two years.

Have you had any formal schooling, whether HS or Uni, in computer science of any kind?

I took a course in VB.Net last year if that counts. It was fun.

Other than that I learned everything from reading about it online, or my own experience.

Is your rig pre-built, custom built, or both?

Built it all myself.

Have you owned, or would you ever purchase a Mac for gaming?

No. Only ever used a Mac for educational games, when I was a kid. I don't plan to get a Mac desktop ever.

What was your first computer(i.e. Amiga, x86, Mac, Intel CPU, AMD CPU, Geforce, 3dfx)?

Commodore Amiga 500 (Q4 1989) via my parent's money.

ronvalencia

Nice! My dad bought us a Amiga 1000 as our first computer. Years ago I still had the Kickstart diskette lying around, but I eventually lost it. Got himself a Amiga 2000. Those were almost the best "PCs" you could get at the time. Built-in hdd, two diskette drives, cutting-edge gfx.:P Defender of the Crown on Amiga made the NES look like crap.

Operation Wolf, Hostages:Rescue, and Bubble Ghost were some games I remember playing. We always messed with the text-to-speech too.

Some footage of one of the most cutting-edge games around at the time...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-LIfKSSe_qU

"Naow I just kil dis crappy guy and go here" Love the commentary!

Have you ever struck your system out of anger?

No. PC doesn't have any feelings.

ronvalencia

Once you get it Kinect it will.:P

I play on my PC pretty much 100%. At one point I owned all 3 next gen systems, but I just wasn't getting anything out of them. I do still play on my Dreamcast and Saturn though :)millerlight89

Could it be? A fellow Sega maniac? I still have a DC, Saturn, Nomad, GameGear, and Genesis+SegaCD. What happened to the DC almost makes me want to cry(don't judge me, Paul Blart!). Such an awesome system. First time I ever talked to my own Seaman, and had it talk back to me. I once shutdown a whole session of CS at a LAN party with Soul Calibur on a big screen. Even the PC gamers were impressed with that game(stinkin' button mashers).

I own a PC, 360 and PS3.. currently my play time on the systems is about 90% PC and 10% 360 with almost no playtime on the PS3 as none of the games hold my interest. Of course this changes sometimes like when a new Forza, Halo or Rockstar game comes out.

I only tend to bother with mods in open ended games, just because once I finish a linear game I'm not really compelled to go back and play it with or without mods.

I only upgrade my hardware when I start to notice it getting slow. So I don't really upgrade often at all.. maybe once every 3 or 4 years.

I am 100% self taught when it comes to computers.

Every computer that I have owned has been custom built.

No I would never buy a Mac for gaming, that's like buying a Toyota Prius for track racing.

What's your % of playtime between systems?

90%pc 10%psp, though I dwell on the 10% of psp recently

Are you more drawn to games that feature plenty of modded content, or a fan of straight vanilla games?

I like openworld games modded (eg. mount and blade, new vegas, etc.), the others genres are fine without mod

How often do you upgrade your hardware?

More than 4 years

Have you had any formal schooling, whether HS or Uni, in computer science of any kind?

Learned some basic about flash dreamweaver ps illustrator outside school, but that's it

Is your rig pre-built, custom built, or both?

I chose the components then asking the store to build it for me

Have you owned, or would you ever purchase a Mac for gaming?

So like me, you game on PC, but do you play on a console as well? Let your voice be heard!

Some additional questions...

What's your % of playtime between systems? at the moment 60/40 in favor of my PC playing Kotor on my laptop and GT5 on my PS3.

Are you more drawn to games that feature plenty of modded content, or a fan of straight vanilla games? i like Mods that improve graphics and textures rather than home made levels. i just don't get the time to play them.

How often do you upgrade your hardware? My current PC is 6 years old with a AMD processor i upgraded the graphics to a 9800GT 3 years ago. but that PC recently stopped working. im sure i could fix it but im taking the oppotunity to start from scratch and buy myself something for around £1000 something with a i7-2600

Have you had any formal schooling, whether HS or Uni, in computer science of any kind?
No. but i have worked with PC's for 15 years now both in sales and service.

Is your rig pre-built, custom built, or both? I could easily build one. its not hard at all. but i will buy pre-build for peace of mind more than anything. looking at the cost of seperate parts vs having it pre-built im only saving £50-£60. and im happy to pay that to avoid any hassle.

Have you owned, or would you ever purchase a Mac for gaming?
No. the only apple devices i've ever owned is my 3GS and i wireless aluminum apple keyboard.
