Where do you get your games at? are there places in Bangkok that sell current gen consoles and games? and how about what region are they? I'm an american guy who will be moving with my thai wife to thailand in the near future and I'm also a gamer and want to know if i'll have access to games there other than ordering on line and havng them shipped. I have been to thailand a few times and I'm aware they have a problem with piracy and bootlegs but I want actual games not copies.

good luck actually buying games...if your a PC gamer, than go for digital distrobution....I really doubt you will find any store in that region that sells ligitimate games outside of maybe Korea and the MMO market.

Some highly nonsensical posts as usual.

I'm almost certain that you'll be able to find at least a few stores in the country, probably in the capital Bangkok which will sell genuine copy games. And if not then import region free games from Singapore, it's closest and they stock pretty much everything and anything in Singapore, it is after all a transit nation.

I am Thai student in US. I left Thailand for 4 years. I am sorry I do not know any place right now.

However I recommend you to go to this website www.gconsole.com(one of the famous game websites in Thailand) and go to the webboard.

I know it is a Thai website but there are many people there who know English and willing to help you.

lol, they have internet in Thailand, its not some 3rd world Country. Bangkok is very modern its just that gaming isn't so big as here. I'll try that playasia website when the time comes to order new next gen systems. Heck maybe i'll open a store and sell the hard to find games.

I live in Singapore and that's indeed the case: typically multiple regions of the same game are stocked side by side in shops, with the Asian editions typically cheaper but also having lower resale value in the Used game market, at least for PS3 games. For the original thread starter: if the decision is to try exporting from a Singapore site, here's one: http://www.gameshop.com.sg

Some highly nonsensical posts as usual.

pantip plaza lol. If it's still what it was and hasn't been shut down by the cops. I went there about 5 years ago and remembered it was 4-5 stories IT mall in Thailand with nothing but pirated stuff. Don't forget to turn off your cellphone when you walk in there.

your best bet is play-asia if you wanna buy online. but bangkok should have a few game stores that sell legitimate games. make sure you scout every shop first because they don't really have a centralised way of pricing their original(term for non-pirated) games. So some shops would have overblown prices whereas some would have cheap prices. Anyways, good luck.

Wow, you guys are living in a dream world. Seriously, go overseas more.

Anyway, there are bound to be stores in Thailand that sells video games. If all else fails import from Singapore/ Hong Kong etc. They have everything there.

lol, i've been to panthip plaza, MBK, and Fortune city in Bangkok, I was looking for PSP games which they did have... but they also offered to download games to my memory card which i refused to do since my PSP couldn't be used that way anyways. They did have games but limited... like someone else mentioned if i'm looking for software and PC games there are no problems, but I dont know if they carry PS3/xbox 360/wii systems and games. As big as Bangkok is i'm sure by now they have more options as its still growing.

Its true when most people think of Thailand they think 3rd world, but Thailand is not as poor as most think, at least not in Bangkok. Of course they do have those village tribes that live like the ancient people. Bangkok in itself has Sky trains, Subways, massive bus and taxi services and little 3 wheel cars called Tuk Tuks. Also that picture doesn't do justice to how large it is. Thats only one view but if you could pan the camera around it would be the same in all directions.

i think the villages in thailand add to it's charm, i would love to visit thailand, wow skytrains, we don't have anything like that over here and bangkok makes london look a tad pathetic., i guess people get the wrong impressions from watching to many films.

I agree, sometimes the old ways are pretty special and forgotten and I admit once outside of Bangkok things get more.... how do I say, "traditional". In fact there are no other cities like Bangkok in Thailand although their beaches and mountain ranges make up for that.

Developing the country side is taking them pretty long though. I was in Thailand 10 years ago and the difference in development back then was pretty big, hearing that it hasn't changed much is pretty shocking. I may be biased as I was living in Malaysia at the time, but atleast malaysia seemed to have spread the wealth more around the country and not just in Kuala Lumpur.

So lets say curren gen systems and games are not easy to come by in Bangkok... what would I do to get into starting an game import shop? like importing lets say Japanese console/games, and American console/games and putting them up for sell in a retail store? anyone have any suggestions that may have shops setup? or even opening a gamestop or something over there? Just looking for a way to get into this market and bring gaming into Thailand on a larger scale.

That may be true when referring to the country side and beaches, but Bangkok continues to grow alot in a short time... and honestly I'd hate to see all the older traditional areas ruined by western development. Some of the old ways should stay in tact to remind us where we all came from.

true, but I don't think western development needs to destroy old traditions. I think it's up to the people themselves to keep the tradition alive as many countries in Europe do.
