The fact that Mass Effect was one of the first games to get an AAA scorethis yearmeans nothing. Bioshock 2 and Final Fantasy are out of the race but recently we just got BFBC2-one of the best online console shooters ever, and right around the corner is GOW 3 followed by Red Dead Redemption along with other games like LA Noir, Max Payne, Halo Reach, Modnation Racers (That kids, is what you call an underdog) and possibly the Last Guardian. If you ask me, Mass Effect 2 will be long forgotten come December and if it does manage to win, then all I can say is that 2010 was a pretty crappy year.

Yep, Bayonetta was released in January, GOTY so far IMO.

i say halo reach. or the new mario/zelda. mass effect 2 was released to early and gow 3 will be just a memory 2 months after its release.

I doubt it would win GOTY on Gamespot, but it definitely has a chance at getting a nomination. But that can't stop it from being my personal GOTY if it comes down to that.

Wouldn't be surprised if Heavy Rain does get awarded with GOTY since GS seems to favour underdogs.

If the year ended right now, ME2 would win GOTY for sure. The only thing standing in its way at the moment would be Bayonetta.

I don't care for SC, but it's still good. I found SC to be very boring, and that's when I bought it 7 years ago. I do think that the SC popularity has the Megan Foxx effect where one dude says it is teh b3st th1ng evar and if you disagree you r fa1l so the next guy ignorantly agrees. Ofcourse this mostly applies to new kids that didn't play it in the late 90s/early 2000s.

What TC should have said is, Calm down over GOTY period because it is freaking March man!!!

meh i still dont think bout GOTY till November at least.My personal GOTY so far has been BFBC2 after playing it at a mates house and skiving college cause our lecturer didnt appear.
