Camon guys, this GOTY is easy to see... is a no brainer...

Starcraft 2

I think it is a no brainer this year.

It has an excellent campaign and the multiplayer...well...the multiplayer has their own TV channels all around the world.

It was difficult to make a sequel of a game like Starcraft. After 10 years was still in the top 5 list of multiplayer gaming. And Blizzard did a great job. Game is super polish and fans were happy with the sequel, everyone is playing it and it is a blast. I think Starcraft 2 deserve it, and giving SC2 the GOTY award will be a recognition to the Starcraft series and to Blizzard, that supported Starcraft with patches 10 years after it was released.

And it is a long time since the PC dont have a GOTY exclusive. We deserve it.

Please support Starcraft 2 for the GOTY award at Gamespot.

I agree 120%. No game this year has been as fun as Starcraft 2. The game is top-notch and will last for years. If SC2 for some ungodly reason doesn't get it, SMG2 should.

Donkey Kong Country Returns should win it, but probably released a bit too late. think SMG2 will win it or who knows may be a suprise like Red Dead Redemption perhaps?

Halo Reach will most likely win shooter of the year.

I say RDR. Alan Wake or Heavy Rain maybe (by some miracle). I want a new IP with fresh storyline and characters. I hate seeing GOTY go to sequals and the like b/c they don't really do anything radical to the formula so unless the last one got GOTY, the 2nd (or 3rd or whatever) one shouldn't. I was happy when Demon Souls got GOTY.

I personally don't think Mario should ever win any GOTY awards simply b/c the story is nonexistant and the characters are stale (but lovable). Same with Halo and cod since multiplayer is the main draw and they dont flesh out characters and plot is relatively shallow.

Claiming some games have a chance to get GOTY is fooling yourself - at risk of getting lynched by a bunch of fanboys, here are the games: Halo Reach, GT 5, God of War III, and some others that aren't even worth mentioning, due to the high unlikeliness to get the award (FF XIII, Alan Wake).*

I see the highest chances treading between Mass Effect 2, Starcraft II, Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Red Dead Redemption. These were all sequels (except RDR) that came out better than their prequels, and they're, in general, flawless (there isn't a big enough flaw in either of them).

*Though some of these games could be eligible for titles like Shooter of the Year, or other specific "of the Year" awards.

i whole heartedly disagree. my GOTY 2010 is an obvious choice; Battlefield Bad Company 2. that's what i've been playing for pretty much the whole year.

e: i prefer Supreme Commander over Starcraft. Sure, Starcraft might be more balanced in favor of ultra-hardcore gamers, but i just love SupCom's massive scale. Still sometimes taking a match every now and then with a friend.

The majority of my gaming is on the PC. But, I'm rooting for RDR. There's just not that many westerns in gaming.

But, trying to peer into the minds of the GS staff...... I have to go with what I've already mentioned in two other threads similar to this one. They'll go for the obvious which is SMG2 due to its score of 10 or they'll go for Super Meat Boy which would be the underdog/Cinderella/dark horse among the big names.

Civilization 5 has an pretty good chance of taking it. It's kind of sad this excellent game is being overlooked here.

RDR should be GOTY IMO.That game was just amazing!SO damn refreshing.

I think Red Dead Redemption will win the most GOTY, but starcraft is a good contender...
