Camon guys, this GOTY is easy to see... is a no brainer...

Starcraft 2

I think it is a no brainer this year.

It has an excellent campaign and the multiplayer...well...the multiplayer has their own TV channels all around the world.

It was difficult to make a sequel of a game like Starcraft. After 10 years was still in the top 5 list of multiplayer gaming. And Blizzard did a great job. Game is super polish and fans were happy with the sequel, everyone is playing it and it is a blast. I think Starcraft 2 deserve it, and giving SC2 the GOTY award will be a recognition to the Starcraft series and to Blizzard, that supported Starcraft with patches 10 years after it was released.

And it is a long time since the PC dont have a GOTY exclusive. We deserve it.

Really? weird, i never saw ME2 as a kids game, so i guess it's only your opinion.

I'm agree with most people, it's between SC2, ME2 and SMG2, personally, i would give it to Bayonetta, but of those 3, i'll give it to SMG2.

Hmmm...I think there's a flaw in your statement.

Nonsense. Mass Effect 2 has this one in the bag - doubly so if whoever ultimately chooses it played the DLC.

I was aware of that when I had written it, but I can't help but state that out of all the games I've played this year, GT5 and Halo Reach are the most polished and refined games imo. I haven't put enough time into Galaxy2 so I can't say much there, but there are times where I feel Starcraft2 doesn't even measure up to the original.

I would say ME2, amazing story, characters, just what I look for in a videogame. Starcraft felt like a simple remake with a new incomplete story. Also, there was the feeling that you were in constant tutorial until the latter missions. I know that most people will disagree but I think that Blizzard failed with SC2. And as far as strategy games go I would prefer Civilization V, or Dawn of War 1(I know, old game but one of the best resourse management RTS games imo)

What? The consensus seems to be that a puzzling lack of polish is what held GT5 back.

Yeah, I just don't see what they are talking about most of the time. The little graphical inconsistencies are only being blown out of proportion because it is Gran Turismo. The game--specifically the driving engine, and especially with a wheel, is absolutely incredible. I'll agree that some of the online setup is somewhat clumsy, but the online experience--the part that really matters--is perhaps the best I've ever experienced in a game. No doubt about it GT5 has the best online racing community.

I'd say it's time for an Official GOTY Discussion thread sticky. Way too many of these flooding the board.

See I know my GOTY picks won't win, but I feel Rock Band 3 is pretty damn deserving.

It is a sequel that not only added a bunch of new elements to the gameplay, but features a ton of great tweaks that fix pretty much all the problems (my only problem lying in the crap cymbals on the drums) and in general make it a much better experience. On top of that it has by far the best DLC support of any game series out there and the DLC will keep it going for as long as Harmonix decides to stick with RB3.

At the very least though, RB3 better get the best rhythym game award. If it doesn't that would be the most ridiculous thing ever since no other rhythym game in history is even close to being as great as RB3, besides maybe RB2.

Oh and Black Ops better get best shooter. Reach was such a monumental dissapointment in my book. I got bored of it within weeks. However, it seems that somehow a freaking CoD game managed to be the better balanced package with a much more engaging story mode, better game modes, and better multiplayer all around.

Treyarch hath made me a believer with Black Ops. I was ready to completely abandon the series but they went and put out the best CoD game I have ever played.

It's still Mass Effect 2 for me.

I personally don't get Starcraft. It was fun, but not goty imo. Here's hoping for Mass Effect 2, but I'm guessing it will be SMG2.

I haven't played Starcraft 2, so I can't comment on it.

Starcraft 2 is about the only game I can see overcoming SMG2's instant points for being AAAA.

Starcraft ii is not GOTY material, it's very competitive, very good, but as a game, it's not that impressive.

If it isn't SC2 I would lose a lot of respect for GameSpot.

Haven't played it. But this year, I'd be glad to see it. The only games I want to see win GOTY are SMG2, Mass Effect 2, and Starcraft 2. Read Dead was glitchey trash after you got to mexico and Reach and GOW3 didn't meet my hype. To me, this years GOTY is hoping certain games don't win because they were simply OK with critical acclaim.

Mass Effect 2 was the best game of this year and it was almost a year ago.

red dead redemption deserves it most.

There is no game I've played this year that I'm passionate enough about to have it take home the Game of the Year award, whatever game gets it there will be no affect on me.
