There are plenty of games that people are asking to see again, but has the world moved too far to support them? Leaving out the fact that the industry seems intent on turning everything into a service, will games like Jet Moto, Twisted Metal, Bloody Roar, Socom, etc. every get a chance again?

I know Twisted Metal got a shot, but was that the true vision? Even with it being restrained to a teen rating, did it have a chance? Maybe I'm wrong, but I think there is still a better game in there somewhere.

Every Socom since 2 has paled in comparison, to the point where they tried to turn 4 into cod. H-hour is supposedly coming to the PS4, but again, that looks like a broken half-assed version of Socom. And they will undoubtedly use that as proof that the demand isn't there, but it's false.

I know this isn't news, but are those of us that want these titles doomed to be left in the past?

This is clearly a Sony inspired list, but what are some other titles you guys think fit the bill?

Final Fantasy Tactics. Never got a real sequel, the GBA and DS games are dumbed down, poor excuses.

Also, Einhander or Bushido blade.

Bushido blade would be awesome.

I'd love to see a new Samurai Shodown. Seems right about now would be a great time too, fighting games have been on a roll lately.

Then again, as great a game as KoF14 is, I don't think it really moved any units. Online was dead almost immediately and SNK isn't exactly overflowing with funds.

But if they did make a new Samsho, either with sprites (preferable) or with the shader/render tech that Arcsys is using for GG/DBFZ, damn I'd be all over that.

Oh hell ya they can be resurrected. Just look at Killer Instinct and Tomb Raider. Very Successful Reboots of Old Franchises.

Microsoft could make their Xbox One REALLY interesting if they brought back games like Banjo Kazooie, Conker, Perfect Dark, Jet Force Gemini, or Battle Toads to their system.

People hyped Dragon Age because at the time, high quality CRPGs were considered dead. Thanks to Kickstarter and Steam we are inundated with them.

I'd love to see Shiny games like MDK return, but they'd probably lose all their character and uniqueness. Best left in past, before the dark times.

Let's talk about Conker Live & Reloaded. I loved Twisted Metal on psp btw man. In fact , the psp is the best portable of all time in my eyes. The jump was never as great again for the mobile sector.

No shit, a modern take on battletoads would be epic. And a system seller imo.

I played both Perfect Dark Zero & Banjo Kazooie Nuts & Bolts on the 360 and they were crap (in my opinion of course) and all of the original people who created the games you guys mentioned left after MS acquired Rare I believe. So you're seeing it with fond memories, and unrealistic expectations for the games ever appearing again, unless in maybe BC.

Didn't most of Rare's talent create Playtonic and release that platformer the tanked recently.

Besides that gaming has moved forward (in a bad way) and if any of these games were to be given sequels they would most definitely fail in todays video game environment.

I think like myself when it comes to Sega's awesome library of games is that were gonna have to be content with fond memories :(

@i_p_daily:

Honestly not too much shits to give about old Rare staff. Sometimes they made cool shit, other times they didn't, but I never thought of them as a consistent powerhouse.

All I'm thinking is that these are strong IPs with good foundations and ideas to spring from. MS could just establish talented studios to make it happen, don't need the old guard.

Plenty of old school franchises endure, or have made comebacks with little to no ties to the original talent. Like Retro Studios for example, they worked wonders with Metroid, and made the best DKC games around. Or even for a MS specific example, they brought Killer Instinct back in a great way.

Countless examples of course, but you get the point.

I'd like to see Magic Carpet with the frostbite engine... that could be fun...

Its replacing my desire for Black & White with kinect, mostly because kinect is dead.

@i_p_daily: not if those games are given to the right people.

Battletoads can be COMPLETELY Done correctly. Just look at Sonic Mania. A game going back to the roots of the series and it's absolutely incredible. No DLC Season pass garbage, no loot crates, just damn good gameplay.

Banjo Kazooie and Conker can surely come back too and right now is a great time to show them back up cause the collectathon platformer is back.

If Microsoft plays their cards right they can bring these franchises back and make them awesome. But that requires Microsoft to know what they're doing and give those games to real talent much like how Killer Instinct wasn't given to Rare, but to Double Helix instead and then to Iron Galaxy. Smart decisions were made for that game, so smart decisions can be made with the others.

Double dragon, open world beat them up with level up and upgradable moves. A new tenchu with current gen graphics. A reboot syphon filter. That is all I can think of for now.

One game I loved on the GCN, PS2, and Xbox was Metal Arms: Glitch in the System.

It got a rerelease on the Xbox 360 in 2008. It was a great game but it didn't get a sequel.

The developer Swingin' Ape Studios was put to work on StarCraft: Ghost after they got purchased by Blizzard. Then when Blizzard cancelled StarCraft: Ghost they killed the developer.
