The only thing that can dethrone Call of Duty is Activision. It's been a long time coming. Halo Reach can dethrone Call of Duty on the xbox, sure. But as it is, Call of Duty wins with all platforms. But with Infinity Ward's losing a huge potion of it's senior staff and Activision continuing it's yearly releases I think theres a decent chance that Call of Duty will lose steam. People are probably to get a little tired of this, Guitar Hero style and Activision shows no signs of slowing down, possibly speeding up with a third person action game and MMO on the way on top of the regular releases. Infinity Ward was a central figure to the Call of Duty series and I don't think the company will be the same with all the people that have left it. Unless Treyarch really steps up I don't think people are going to look forward to Call of Duty games like they did for Modern Warfare 2. Theres also the matter of the subscription idea thats been rolling around the noggins of the Activision guys. If that ever comes to pass then I'd say that Activision is practically begging for the competition to steal their market share. Halo Reach is a single game though, so while it may dominate for some time, it will inevitably be over thrown at some point. It'll be up to a new Halo game to take over eventually. With Bungie gone Microsoft really has a job cut out for itself in looking for either alot of great talent for 343 or contracting a new developer. How well turns out will see if Halo can prosper without Bungie. It may not just be Halo though. EA is clearly agressively trying to get a big share of the shooter market with the Battlefield and Medal of Honor franchise, perhaps to a lesser extent with Army of Two. And wouldn't you know it, the guys who left Infinity Ward started a studio at EA so they could just as well make something that could top Call of Duty.

easily. modern warfare 2 will slow down after black ops, and black ops will not sell as well as modern warfare 2.

reach will be #1 for a while

Reach is their last Halo. Halo is owned by MS and Bungie broke their contract with MS, they recently had a deal with Activision, but knowing Bungie, they won't allow their new IP to be milked by the likes of Activision.

I think so. COD is just the same game over and over. Halo Reach looks like vast improvement from the previous installment.

i think halo is better but itll nvr be bigger or more known because not everybody can play halo but anybody can play COD halo 3 sold 10 million copies in 3 years thats alot but COD has sold more then that in less then a year even mario outsold it . Thats probably why bungie went multiplat so they could be even more populatr and everybody can play there gamecoltgames

Obviously COD outsold it, its on 3 platforms.
