@charizard1605: There may never be a system as good as the PS2 was. In fact, I'd even go as far as to say the PS2 was the last truly great system, period. The only other system to come close is the PSP. Some people may argue with me for whatever reason, but I say this because it ended up having such a diverse library of games as well as three exclusive Final Fantasy games, one of them extremely important story wise to the franchise. It had Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max, Wipeout, Dynasty Warriors, Monster Hunter, and a host of other great games, excluding FPS games for the most part because of the lack of a second analog stick, but that may have been part of what forced the little system to rely on better, and more creative games.
Anyway, after PS2, lets get real here. Rampant day one dlc, buggy games on release, long install times, having to rely on online to increase game play time instead of just making a longer game, fewer jrpgs, more shooters, qte - all trouble that started with the arrival of the PS3 and 360, and it's gotten worse with the Xbone and PS4. The result is Sony now claiming the PS4 is the new home of CoD (what, no other Killzone games in the works?), hardly any other real RPGs coming out besides Persona and FF XV as well as the FF VII remake whenever it comes out, competing for exclusive content for games like Destiny, day one DLC for games like Evolve, movie games with dat cinematic feel...
And on and on and on I could go. I just feel like gaming just is not what it used to be. Most of the systems on up through the PS2 just had a lot of great games, with the exception of Sega CD, 32X, etc...but even then, those systems had great games.
I guess the arrival of the internet and consoles' ability to connect as well as tech getting more powerful has really just changed my favorite hobby. Whether that is a good or a bad thing in the long run, we'll see. I'm getting really tired and I'm loosing my train of thought. Posting and off to bed.
