Thats becuase it only tracks western realms, the majority of WOW players come from Asia.

That's true.

This data is really old, but I think you get the idea.
This topic is locked from further discussion.
you started it?Anyway, howd this turn into a player count debate? Lol. barely even what my threads about.
Gamer4535
even if it were true (about the WoW unique player accounts), you do know there are other games with big communities too right?
also PC games last WAY longer than console games, hence why people still play games like counter strike, Diablo, Battlefield2 etc etc
Awesome way to twist my post to meet your own agenda. That number was only for the US. There are also over 2.5 million in the EU and that is just two areas of the world.nope. not according to the stat tracking thing.
It says that in the past 30 days theres been about 3 million people on.

Never got it myself tbh, i think it's similar to how they swear down every PC exclusive is the best thing ever and nothing can touch it where as everything else happens to be generic and rubbish, just a big ego compensating for something else.
Last i gamed on a PC online (and this was years ago before i turned to consoles) it was fine n dandy, worked fine, easy enough to use..but it wasn't any different really, annoying having to go out and find maps that people was using is what i remember.
when i play gears on 360 im lucky to get 200 ping.
i can easily find 50-100 ping servers on pc.
yes its missing integration but i think we will be seeing that when ms releases the new GFWL interface
oh wait a sec.. you mean lemmings and cows dont do that??:oNever got it myself tbh, i think it's similar to how they swear down every PC exclusive is the best thing ever and nothing can touch it where as everything else happens to be generic and rubbish, just a big ego compensating for something else.

OK PEOPLE LISTEN UP!
I completly agree with the TC! For example I tried TF2 free week, I like it on 360 so I thought it'd be fun to play on pc....WRONG!
So I load up the game and then thousands of servers come up with random names like UKCLANMATCHblahblahblah, then I try and join some and I'm in random peoples messed up maps and its just weird. With 360 I host or join games, that say the type map and # of players no line of text crap. In short PC FTL

I already tried that, its done on a character bases, so shrniking it doesnt work.
Pc online is basically a mess. It's a lot like ps2 online, every game has their own specific structure.
Yes, Xfire exists, but here's the cold truth: it does nothing. It just is a list that says whos playing what. It's not like it truly unifies the system. It's nothing more than an online now sticker. It doesn't make it any easier to hop into a game with anyone.
The whole Xfire/Steam etc. stuff is basically fueled by the fact that they let you download lots of stuff there, but that's really just an alternatvie to going to a store.
And saying pc gaming is lag free is completely false, it's about the same as psn or xbl, no different.
Seriously, this is the biggest bs statement ive heard people say. Pc online gaming is not the best. In fact, it's not even as good as PSN.
basically this: Pc gaming fails for 2 reasons: You're not connected and be honest here, who has friends that actually play pc gaming online with them? Seriously? Talking about real friends here.
given that WoW alone has more users than the entire XBL community...and that counterstrike, a 10 year old game is more popular than Halo 3...yes.
cobrax75
Halo 3 is more popular than 1.6. CS 1.6 is the only PC shooter that can have at least 100,000 playing at the same time. IF you look at the numbers for the other games it's poor in comparison. Seems to me PC players are stuck in the 90s when it comes to shooters.
Crysis Wars = 1315 currently playing.
Halo 3=184,446 currently playing
CS 1.6=110,000 playing
TF2=12,000
I seriously don't understand why people always spout off that pc online gamiung is the best. I have one question: how exactly?

I have some HUGE problems with what you said about X-fire. if you want to jump in on a game with a friend, you click the controller on the bottom left... and bam.. there you go... game launching. and with steam, you have your friends list open, you see someone playen a game that you want to join, right click... Join Game... its so simple.
What you said about " lag free ", isn't entirely true. there are MANY different factors, like how good your PC is, where you are located, and where in the world the server is. If your in america playing on a british server, you lag... simple as that.
And, i think you would be absolutely suprised how many people play with their friends online, you know.. people they actually know. I do ALL the time..... ususally the only time i play a game is with someone i know, that goes to my school.
All in all.... a majority of what you said is false, and derived from your little bit of experience with PC gaming. Thats all i have to say, now.. have a good day :)

Crysis is horrible, guess why so few people play it...
How does this make a difference? Do you play with all these people at the same time, no. It make absolutely no difference if their is 10,000 or 100,000 people.

Xfire join friend does not work with all games and the Steam feature only supports games made by Valve. Don't make it seem liek these features with all games.
