Can someone explain to me why the PS VITA is doing so bad?

Is it because the games are too expensive? Lack of quality games? Lackluster apps?

I just dont get it! Isn't this the type of handheld people have always wanted? 2 analog sticks, large vibrant screen, console like graphics, and touch screen functionality. Is there just no pleasing people? What does SONY have to do to save it?

Too expensive, gaming handhelds are niche, no games. I love it though, definitely my system of choice. Which is sad.

Games. Consumers love potential but they rather have substance, especially at the current price.

It has one of the worst handheld game lineups ever for starters.

It's too expensive in todays market.

Sony has no games handheld gamers care about.

Third parties are jumping ship.

No good games. The system is just to expensive for the average consumer. The whole memory card debacle. The idea of making a overly expensive proprietary memory card (sold separately) and not letting the system have an internal memory was very stupid.

I personally did not get it for three reasons. 1. its a handheld and i lost interest in those long ago. 2. it may have good graphics for handhelds but i wanted them to be at least on par with 360 ones. 3 not a single game release or announced interests me.

  • Expensive memory cards.
  • Lack of advertising.
  • Heavy competition from Apple & Nintendo.
  • Needs more quality games specifically designed for the handheld. (I.E less ports)
  • Understand their target market, especially in Japan/Asia.

You're an Idiot if you think System Wars defines all the customers. It really doesn't have a good lineup of games.... uncharted is a great series but it's not a game you would want to sit back and play for the hell of it. It needs more games.. it is afterall.. a system for games.

Price and lack of games for now. When we get a price drop and many more games you'll see numbers going up in sales.

The sony playstation brandname not nearly as strong as when the psp was released and $250 is to high in today consumer market for a device who's main selling point is being a dedicated handheld gaming even nintendo couldn't do it and had to heavily slash the price after 4 months. The lack of advertising for the system doesn't help either.

No third party in their right mind would spend money to put games on a handheld with such poor hardware and software sales.

It's funny that people are saying price now, at first I remember everyone expecting it to be $300-$400 but a lot of people were saying "Sony finally learned" when they saw the $250 price point...Now it's too high, which I agree with.

The 3DS currently has more, and much better games out, and it's quite a bit cheaper as well. So I'd say both a price and lack of games issue is why it's doing so bad.

$250 isn't that bad but when you throw in the ridiculously over price memory sticks and lack of games, it makes it a tough buy

It was different back then because the 3DS offered much less for the same price but then Nintendo lowered the price, plus, the bigger library of games due to the headstart changed everything.

When it was revealed to be $250, the 3DS was $250 as well. Had Nintendo kept that price point things would be very different right now. After the Wii and DS success, Nintendo can afford to take losses on dropping the 3DS price. Sony doesn't have that luxury to go any lower anytime soon.

It's just not a good product (at least, not relative to the market it's in). If you're looking for a pure gaming device the 3DS is cheaper and better supported, and if you're looking for a media consumption device smartphones are more convenient and tablets more useful. And then on top of that Sony just threw so many features at the wall hoping they'd stick that the Vita just reeks of a desparate, out-of-touch company, and once you get that label slapped on it's near-impossible to shake off (see: every MS consumer electronic device of the past decade not named "Xbox").

It's only about few months old in NA. Sony will just do what they always do , make and publish good games and drop the prices of their systems as soon as they can.Larger sales will come with bigger 3rd party franchise releases , combined with a pricedrop , and a 1st real holiday season for the platform.

In the meantime .... Soul Sacrifice was just announced , E3 is right around the corner (more game announcements) , and Gravity Rush , LittleBigPlanet , and Sounds Shapes (game releases) will be here before you know it. Then Gamescom and TGS later. It's going to be a fun ride.

It's a shame because the hardware is absolutely amazing. The games though...they're great for maybe a week and then what do you do? Uncharted, great. Rayman Origins, great. FIFA soccer, great. However...these aren't games you're going to play religiously for months and months and on top of that what is really exclusive about them? Hardly any "unique" experiences that you can only get on a Vita as pretty much the same games are on the PS3.

I was blown away the first few days with my Vita and now it's like, where are the games?? Seriously, this thing is new and developers have been waiting years for some new hardware to play around with and this thing has so much potential...Sony must change it's direction for it. Also regarding new experiences etc. I don't even mind the ports...having a portable PS3 would be awesome just like the PSP was nearly a portable PS2 but the PS Vita doesn't even have that going for it right now.

Bottom line: IT NEEDS GAMES!

Yep. I can. I went into Gamestop and bought a PS3 for almost half the price. Anyone over 24 has no time to play a handheld if they have a career, girlfrind, and child. And if there is time to play games you might as well just get a console.

And parents are not gonna throw their money on a $300 handheld if they have already bought a PSP or 3DS.

Sony should port the Vita games to the PS3 (They were probably going to anyways) and can the Vita. The technology is cool but with phones and Tablets, gaming devices seem to be a black hole unless you are Nintendo.

Not everyone has kids at the age of 24. I don't think they should can the Vita because adults or parents won't buy them. There's people like me who work and can save the money to buy a Vita.

The only thing I'd like is a price drop.

What is wrong with having a kid when you are 23 or 24 years old? When you are married or engaged it is perfectly OK to have kids and screw on the kitchen table if you so desire. That was one of the dumbest comments I have ever read on here. Keep in mind ispeakfact and loosing ends live on this board.

I really want a Vita, I'm sold on the system it'self but right now it only has a couple of games that interest me. Give it some time and I'll get one down the road. Oh and those memory cards are a HUGE rip off, but whatever once the system get's some really good games it will make up for that.
