I wouldn't mind

I didn't play MGSV due to not playing the previous games.
For the first time ever with this series, I can say that doesn't matter. Yeah some things would go over your head and the big twist won't mean anything to you, but it's really a gameplay centric game. Story is loosely scattered about over dozens of hours of gameplay. And even then, I've noticed that they do make an effort to get new players up to speed on what's what. Because the main character is waking up from a 9 year coma, they take liberty to explain things that might be hazy to you.
Maybe?
I like it more than The Witcher 3, that I got bored of and haven't gone back to. I enjoy Metal Gear Solid 5 and Rocket League the most this year so far, and I'm about to get into Ori and The Blind Forest, Undertale, and Soma soon. With me having high expectations for Ori and Soma.
Undertale is absolutely amazing. Play it first.
Played SOMA, game puts you in an uncomftable place. Great game.
I haven't played The Witcher 3 more than an hour, but my other heavy hitters for the year so far, Rocket League and MGSV, are more or less contenders, or at least were in MGSV's case.
Bloodborne is amazing. Like let's get it clear, just because consensus isn't with TC doesn't mean that there's not a really good case that can be made in its favor. It has great combat, extremely deep lore that's still getting discovered, and a unique, yet devoutly Lovecraftian world that will go down among the best. The issue is that it doesn't always differentiate itself from Dark Souls enough that you won't compare and contrast them. And in that comparison, Dark Souls wins, and Bloodborne is amazing, but less of a classic than Dark Souls.
And from what I hear, The Witcher 3 is an open world game if open world games weren't just filler copy paste bullshit like they've been recently and has a remarkable amount of strong assets and thought put into it. So the "can we agree" part in the title is dumb, whatever, because Bloodborne is being compared to games this year that were also apparently amazing. But it's not ghastly thinking about it, and it most likely will win GOTY awards.
Nah, I was not impressed with Bloodborne, or rather, it started out strong then tapered off at around the halfway point, a fairly common theme this year it seems (looking at you MGS V).
My picks would be:
5) Pillars of Eternity
4) Rocket League
3) Super Mario Maker
2) Soma
1) The Witcher 3
Overall I think FO4 may have a strong shot of taking it, Undertale might have a pretty big shot as well. I will likely rule out Halo 5 atm, but heck even that might end up surprising us?
Hell no
Halo 5, Fallout 4, TW3 and MGSV would make better goty (that's assuming Halo 5 and Fallout 4 dont bomb)
MGSV is most certainly behind Bloodborne. Haven't played witcher 3 but if it's anything like witcher 2 then it's definitely behind Bloodborne as well.
what people are forgetting: the true RGOAT!

much better than TW2. I was also expecting it to be on par with TW2 but its significantly better *on pc*. Combat system on the other hand........ trash. Can't believe this dev couldn't make a proper combat system with three games and almost a decade of time to produce something half decent...
@silversix_: And combat is definitely the most important aspect when it comes to these games.
it really is. main reason BB is superior to TW3 even though TW3 is great.
MGS V
There are just so many things about this game that make it the best out of the games I've played this year.
Simple things, like when you are on the Angolan-Zaire Border and it's raining...... You run across the swamps, crawl through the water and the sound of the rain as it drips on the tents or on sink roofs. Those sounds have never been presented in other games before. So many small things that got me hooked to this game.
For me it is. In terms of gameplay mechanics its by very far the best game of the year so far and that is for me the most important aspect in any game regardless of the genre.

Also the cassette tapes introduces a completely unconventional way of storytelling. This sounds ridiculous but roughly 70% of the story/lore/plot can be found in the cassette tapes.

This is my opinion; I think that Bloodborne has a very simple gameplay mechanics compared to MGSV. Bloodborne is all about timing and weapon move-set, that's it. It's been like that since Demon Soul's. The gameplay mechanics aren't special whatsoever......but they work so well.
To me in terms of gameplay mechanics, MGSV is probably the most intricate between TW3 and Bloodborne.
For the game I have played.
MGS5: An unfinished story with so great gameplay and writing, damn I want they to finish the story! The FOB suck. Not enjoying the online mode either.Music is top notch.
Witcher3:I think they have put too much moral standards form the wealthy modern world into the game?I don't like that. The gameplay feel repeated, but the graphics are stunning. Not my GOTY.
Bloodborne: Match the souls quality with some new investment. That say alot because Demon souls was gamespot's GOTY.However the gameplay feel kind of old, when compare to MGS5.They are working on a DLC with some new gears, may need to see how it go.
@SolidGame_basic: gameplay is so 2011, actually dark souls gameplay is better.
Amazing graphics and artwork though but is that enough to beat fallout 4....
I doubt it
As for the people saying mgs V , well no, just no.
don't know about witcher 3 though, looks a bit like a movie game.
lolno. The last third is absolute trash (basically everything after Rom is an exercise in bad level design), and the game's lack of post game or variety in builds in metagames absolutely stops it dead in its tracks. For my money, the GotY is Witcher 3. I hear good things about MGSV and Super Mario Maker, but I suspect neither of them will take it, really.
Bloodborne isn't even great by souls game standards.
It's hardly a game of the year contender. I can easily think of 5 games at the top of my head that are far better.
I'd actually forgotten that Bloodborne came out this year. I haven't thought about it at all since my relatively short playthrough of the game.
It was good, in the same way that Shadows of the Damned was good. It didn't blow me away, and I doubt I'll ever have the urge to replay it. I don't see it winning GOTY.
The Witcher 3 gets my vote for now. Especially with the excellent expansion keeping it fresh in everyone's minds.
Maybe?

It's a video game being sold on story, lol imma play other shit first, but I do plan on getting to it. Current gameplan
Finish Dying Light - I've rented this game from gamefly since June -_-
Finish Life is Strange - I dig this game
Finish The Witcher 3 - It's a heavy GOTY pick for at least 2 cats on my podcast
Then get to Ori, Soma, and Undertale.
Since I'm not exactly sweating what's coming up for the rest of the year sans maybe Xenoblade being good.
Bloodborne got boring fast and there was notihng great about the story. MGS5 and TW3 are GOTY candidates, but bloodborne doesn't even make the list for me.
I never thought blood born would be goty but I'm not a fan of the soul series, it's a game that I'll pick up for the right price and that's all. If I'd guess about a game that is out already I'd say mgsv, witcher has it's following and they always build tons of hype but it's never been widely enjoyed like mgs.
This year also still has coming
Star Wars Battlefront
Fallout 4
Just Cause 3
The Rise of The Tomb Raider
Halo 5
And more, I think most of that list will be more appealing to most people than Blood born.
I want it to be Mario Maker or Splatoon so I can read some meltdowns.
But yeah I'd take Bloodborne over Metal Gear 5 or TW3

You haven't play MGSV ?
Are you planning on ?
Witcher 3 - bleh combat, overly long story, boring characters
MGS 5 - lacked iconic Kojima personality that we've come to know
Bloodborne - amazing gameplay, intriguing story
Maybe Fallout 4 has a shot, but the graphics suck and it seems like Fallout 3.5.
What say you, SW? Does Bloodborn still have this?
No, it's pretty niche but opinions aside, nobody is still playing it. It didn't have any legs or replayability. (biggest complaint i heard form people that liked it). Besides that it suffers form teh complaints you have about the witcher (bleh combat, boring characters), MGS (game lacked perosnality or a story), Fallout 4 (graphics for bloodborne sucked) I highly doubt it takes any GOTY awards. this year has a lot of contenders in witcher, MGS, Fallout, TR, Halo. IDK if bloodborne will even make consideration

Maybe eventually, I am honestly in no hurry to play it right now.
Can't really comment on it since I don't have a PS4. I guess only people with all consoles, and a decent PC can tell if it deserves that title

True.
But I just want to say that I've really enjoyed it. I really recommend that you get it at some point.

Yeah, it's one of the best games this gen no matter how you slice it. Incredibly flawed, but awesome at the same time. Which in a nutshell, describes most MGS games.
