Can we all agree COD killed Halo?

Not KZ, not Resistance but COD. MW2 is currently beating Halo Reach. A game that's over a year and a half old is beating the latest and arguabley best Halo MP game out there. Here's XBL's recent activity week of Feb. 7th.

A lot of people still play Reach, though. Don't let the fact that 2 CoD games are ahead of it in XBL activity fool you into thinking its community is that of something like Killzone 2. :P

But yeah there is no doubt at all Halo's popularity has taken a hit because of CoD, but Reach is still popular and played by a lot of people regardless.

And hey look at GTA IV at #6! :D Almost 3 years old and still a lot of people play it, myself included.

Yes it did, more people play Call of duty now then any other FPS

halo is still alive and kickin, and i have hundreds of thousands, if not millions who agree with me. i can agree that CoD is more populare though

While CoD is certainly more popular than Halo, I don't think that CoD is what killed Halo. I think it just ran its natural course. What other series can have five or more games and most of them retain the quality that Halo did?

I can make the same exact case for Halo, I actually beleive those games have more hype effecting the score.

Only thing we can say that is certain without bringing in opinion or "hype" myths of each review.

1. MW2 has a higher average score than Reach.

2. MW2 has more players, always Reach.

mw2 is a campfest

cant play grifball and zombies on cod

Reach is far from the best MP Halo.

CE > 2 > Wars > 3 > > Reach

In terms of sheer player numbers and popularity? Absolutely. But "killed" is not the word I would use. Halo still has a very healthy (in terms of numbers) online population.

It has much more popularity sure, don't know why people use the term killed though it's very obvious Halo isn't any form of dead.

One thing I noticed is Halo is less popular than it used to be, I'm guessing that's a combination of people getting tired of the Halo formula and Halo fans moving over to be Cod fans.

Well by that logic Wii Sports killed every game ever made.

Usually killed means the object you're referring to is dead, so know I can't agree tbh.

So by that logic, it also killed FIFA, Madden, Battlefield, Assassin's Creed, Dead Space, Gears of War, Fight Night, Left 4 Dead, etc.?

Someone better tell EA to put a stop order on those checks to DICE, no need for BF3, CoD already killed it.

I dont see why people on a gaming forum, on the perfect platform for engaging in reasoned debate, so often resort to number battles.

when art critics debate about the merits of old works, do they factor in how much the paintings are worth or if the majority of critics before them veiwed them favorably? no.

honestly, I think resistance and killzone both beat halo utterly. killzone 2 was better than any halo game ever made and so was resistance 2 (though not by as large of a margin). and no ammount of sales is going to change what I think about this. if you think sales and quality share a directly related causative relationship, than you no longer respect gaming as an art.
