Took them off the pedestal after I played Alan Wake
I thought I was the only one that didn't like the game. To me it was like a poor version of Silent Hill, and that game had it's own problems.

TC, Remedy is the cure to all that ails you and yikes, in your case that's a tall order lol just sayin. :P
@cainetao11: This is not shitting on Remedy. There are good/competent, but clearly not elite. Thus they are overrated.
I don't mind this, I've never seen them as amazing, but there are many other developers that people refuse to take off the 'pedestal'.
Guerilla Games: Makes average to slightly above average shooters. Not bad but don't cut it against the best in an over saturated shooter market. These guys have never really blown anyone away.
Bungie: Spotty history at best, ups and downs. Halo 3 was the last really good game they made, nearly 10 years ago. These guys really don't derserve the pedestal they have. Let's be honest, they aren't much better than 343i.
Maybe even Polyphony Digital. The GT series has been sliding a bit, has ups and downs and hasn't had the best of times moving forwards. Now they have more competition than ever.
To name a few.
There's usually a separate team that works on the port and most likely overworked and understaffed. Not going to name any companies (NDA and all) but they just throw code into the PC builds, expecting them to work and having QA report back the problems, which they most likely don't catch. Problem is, PC teams are also randomly picked from console testers so they have no idea on stuff like how use/reload is different from use and reload, not only that but their system builds aren't as varied as in the wild (understandable) and the people with the absolute crap or substandard computers are either too lazy to give a **** or just don't understand what's causing the poor performance.
Overall, a lot of showstoppers and other problems that would fail certs aren't as looked into as the console versions.
Now having said that, I have yet to receive my PC codes since I got the Xbox One version and so with that, I'm currently playing QB on Xbox One and the game isn't ground breaking to say the least but just another Remedy standard game that never really disappoints me.
Well, Max Payne was absolutely excellent. I thoroughly enjoyed both Max Payne and Max Payne 2. But after those games... I started Alan Wake yet barely got into an hour of it before putting it away; it was that underwhelming. Judging by what I initially saw of Quantum Break, it didn't look that exciting to me either. Reviews hit on what I was expecting, mostly flash and little substance.
There are like 5 posters here that even put them on a pedestal, they are an under the radar studio as it is. They only got more gassed up because exclusive wars people, personally they are fine. Alan Wake sucks as a game, but Sam Lake is an entertaining writer, Not necessarily a great one, but he's got a sense of style, you usually don't get from western games writers, and Max Payne 1 and 2 are straight up classics. I agree they peaked early as game devs, though.
Use whatever labels make you happy inside, all I care about is playing great games and I'm enjoying the hell out of Quantum Break.
Remedy has never made universally acclaimed games loved by everyone, but that's not the worst thing. They have their cult following and they support them.
@HalcyonScarlet: I literally never saw anyone hold Guerilla Games in high regard. They are usually laughed at and Killzone is considered the red-headed step child of first person shooters.
What about the hype with Horizon?
I guess I'm ok with keeping my altar candles burning. To this day I've enjoyed all their games, and respect them for being daring everytime. QB is having good scores across most of the main game sites, except here at GS. Peter was not the right choice to review this imo, just take a look at the last Lobby and how he was negative towards U4 and you'll understand. But it's all just a matter of personal taste, some people like somethings others won't. Also it seems like here many of the people that hate QB just own a PS4, maybe the game doesn't run well on their system, I'm guessing.
