Can We Just Accept Playstation 3 is dead?

In one year it has released a 20 gig (dropped) two 60 gigs (NA emotion Europe emulation - Dropped) Also an 80 gig with emulation and finally a 40 gig with no BC....

The Xbox has released better models much like iPod releases better models with time...I call it Growth vs Decay...360 grows...PS3 decays...

The price has been bonkers but usually high and multiplats have constantly looked better on it's Xbox counterpart.

Sony has halted it's research on the Cell and outsourced the creation of it aswell.

Blu-ray has proven to be nothing as the whopping 6 hour HS and LAIR proved it doesn't matter.

What keeps this damn machine alive?

Games? Which ones? How are Sony fans likin their Orange Box? How about their UT3? How about their FEAR? Their Madden 08? Their Jericho? Their every game that gets delayed only to look worse?

Blame Devs??!?!? Why? Devs are not to blame....when an entire industry is having problems with a machine....got news for ya...it's aint the devs....Sony doesn't care...I think right now they are getting ready to pull out of gaming...first they cut their losses with the Cell...next blu-ray...finally PS3.

That wouldn't mean they will drop out of gaming, just dropping the PlayStation 3. You don't give up completelybecause of one failure. Espeicaly after two successes.

This has got to be one of the stupidest topics I've read all day. The PS3 isn't going to die anytime soon. Since it seems like you don't already know, it takes a while to craft a good game and even then it's kind of hit-or-miss. PikaPichu

This console is a failure on so many levels it isnt even funny.

1. Year one pricing killed any chance of a solid lead...

2. Yet to see one game let alone a set of games that rivals Gears, Bioshock, Halo, etc etc....and thats looking into the future..

Unless you want to count a 44 million dollar, 125 dev large, 3 year+ project called Killzone 2 with devs still saying it's pre-pre-alpha...crap like that will bankrupt sony...so dont count on too many...

MS won this gen with games, quality online, and consumer respect...just like the PS2 bad drives....the 3 rings couldnt stop the company from selling em like hotcakes...hence its this gens clear winner.

And leave the japan crap at home...they havent meant anything to the industry in years...(ie a console can sell like crap in japan and be a mega hit...if it sells like crap in America and like hotcakes in japan its doomed.)

and as we all know AAAEs on GS effect system sales, and sure the internet hates GS for unbalanced reviews and random xbox360 ads all over the place but sure GS= the one true review site who opinion even though greatly changes from review to review will make or break the ps3

I have had my 360 since launch and it didn't have a lot of great games in its first year of existence either. Madden 06 for 360 was worse than any Madden that has been on the PS3. PDZ was extremely overrated. I even remember the pictures of the thousands of 360's sitting in stores in Japan and everywhere else except NA when it came out. People were calling the 360 dead before the Wii and the PS3 came out. Calling the PS3 dead after one year is a little premature, especially since all of its better games are coming after the first year just as they did for the 360. Your evaluation is as worthless as the evaluation of the 360 was after year one.

You realise it outsold 360 by 840,000+ this year, and by the end of this year its expected for double.

I do play video games since Mattel Intellivision, Commodore VIC 20 and I can assure you PS3 is the most appealing Video Gaming system ever built. It goes above and beyond delivering good gaming experience. Its only fault is that is was largely overhype and most importantly that there are ignorant XBots like yourself out there that like to bash it.

REMEMBER: competition is good for any industry, in a monopolistic situation you get pieces of junk like Windows Vista.

Prey....Quake 4....Madden 06? You can't be serious. PDZ was ok, but great it was not. In any case, I stated that there weren't a lot of great games in it's first year of existence. I didn't say there weren't any good games, just like I wouldn't say there aren't any good games on the PS3. As far as dominating from day one, I don't remember it having a whole lot of competition on day one and from what I've seen the Wii has been kicking it's a** since it came out.

Now I know Wii sells at 250 like candy...but the software sales are also garbage compared to more expensive 360 software sales...

PS3 IS NOT selling better than 360...it is cutting the prie and taking a MASSIVE loss to get more units out at greater loss to the compan!

For every dropped unit, for every price cut, Sony loses more ground...SOny is drawing it's last breaths in gaming...dont expect a long life for PS3..they even delayed Home....lol

A better question would be: how long can MS hemmorhage money from their warranty extensions before they cut their losses?

The PS3 is 1/2 the 360's install base in 1/2 the time with 1/2 the games.

It isn't anywhere close to failing. The big games aren't even out yet. Halo didn't end this war, what else is left in the tank? More Gears? Ninja Gaiden? Alan "Vaporware" Wake?

Mass Effect is the only legitimately exciting game I can see on MS's horizon that isn't a multiplat.

If you really think that everyone who will buy a console this gen has already bought one, you are ignorant, plain and simple.
