Sure I guess. If I don't want a system, I won't buy it. That's not to say I won't buy it eventually though.
After the Wii, I want to give it at least a year before I give another Nintendo home console a chance.
But by then as you say the next gen consoles will be out.
My plan is to avoid it. At least until there are at least 2 of their big name titles. And are good. I wasted my money the day I bought Wii. The first time those words have been said by me ever. I love Ninty, but they didn't really blow my mind this gen. I am skipping most all of next gen, if it matters. I plan on picking up a PS4 when 5 hits shelves. There is far too much content for me to ever play today. And that's just games that are out as of now. Let alone 2 years from now.

I hope Ninty gives me a reason to buy their console. I really do.
I got a Deluxe Bundle with ZombiU and New Super Mario Bros. U. I also plan on picking up a WiiU Pro Controller and another WiiMote. By the end of the launch period I plan on having Pikmin 3, The Wonderful 101, Rayman Legends and Mass Effect 3 for my WiiU.
everyone who keeps saying they're gonna wait and see what MS and Sony release first are crazy. Their next gens aren't coming out for at least two more years and in that time frame all the best multiplats of the coming times will be on the Wii U as the better version. Their next gens will be stupid expensive too, so you'd have to wait another year before their prices drops. That's 3 years of waiting. That's a long wait.SphensenYou just made all that up tho. We don't know when the next consoles are releasing, how much they;ll be, or if WiiU will get best multiplats.
Honestly, I don't think I can.
I def had my reservations about a while ago... but now that's release is closing in... I can't help but want it. Even if it doesn't end up as a persons "favorite/Number 1" gaming console, it'll still have plenty of cool things to offer people.

Think about, don't dream about it
You don't need to tell me sir. The launch window is one of the very best we've seen for a gaming system in a very long time
-Pikmin 3 (Holy mother of GOD! I've been waiting for this glorious game for ages now!)
-New Super Mario Bros. U
-Rayman Legends
-Bayonetta 2
-The Wonderful 101
-ZombiU
I cannot deny myself access to the best first party developer in the industry.

That's indeed a strong line-up but nothing that would interest me.
Call me stubborn, but I refuse to buy a Nintendo console before it gets a high-quality Mario game (NSMB does not cut it for me).
[QUOTE="Gue1"]
yeah, I'm gonna waste $300 on a Wii U to play a bunch of old multiplats and average looking games like Zombie U....
LegatoSkyheart
Assassin's Creed 3 and Call of Duty Black Ops 2 are now old.
do you think before you type? anybody with current gen systems can just buy those games on there Said console without coughing up $300+..I avoided the Wii well enough.:P
Not that I don't think it'll be a great system, with some sweet games. I'm just not made of money, and I don't think I'll feel a need to buy it just because it's the new thing. I also don't own (and never did) a PS3 or a 360. Been just about exclusively PC gaming for like 7 years. My roommate has a PS3 though, so I still got to play MGS4. I was happy about that.
I can't avoid a Nintendo system; I tried it twice with the N64 and GCN and I always end up purchasing a Nintendo console each generation.
4th Generation we had a Genesis then two years later we got an SNES.
5th Generation we had a PS1 then a year later we got an N64.
6th Generation I had a Dreamcast and PS2; two years later I got a GCN.
7th Generation I purchased a Wii at launch.
8th Generation I preordered a Wii U.
I am not avoiding it, just not getting one. I am not interested in the controls. I am also not interested in Nintendo's games and the rest are multiplats that I can get on my PC and/or PS3. Only interesting looking game it has coming is ZombieU. I am fine with my PS3 until the PS4 releases. Plus I am building a new PC in a few months and I have 35 games waiting that I have yet to play. So yeah, I am fine skipping the Wii U. I don't look at the Wii U as next gen. I look at it as Nintendo FINALLY entering this gen with a slightly more powerful system.AmazonTreeBoaYour logic will not compute with most system warriors.
Nintendo is mostly designed for kids, so its not hard for me to avoid it.
Most of Nintendo's games are not even online FFS...haha PS3 launch game had 40 player online and Nintendo can't even get Mario online
How can I wait? Simple, I have loads of games to play and several systems to play them on.
If WiiU is the console to complement PC for me going forward, I'll know soon enough. No need to jump in day one when almost nothing on it appeals to me that I can't play on other platforms.
Avoding every time they try to appeal to more adult audiences. Something they've been trying since N64 and something they are getting controversy for (see: Bayonetta 2).Nintendo is mostly designed for kids, so its not hard for me to avoid it.

They did try on the n64 but after that I would say their efforts stopped or became minimal. Which I think is their problem we don't want to be focused on just once in a while or with limitations. Like 3ds has shooters but no online ones for me.[QUOTE="killzowned24"]

But both games bombed so bad in sales (compared to a spiritual sequel to a movie based game, which they also published, on N64), Nintendo pretty much saw no reason to publish their own games like those and pretty miuch relied on third parties (who weirdly enough have better results, despite them having issues with sales of their games on Nintendo systems) for it, so much so, Nintendo published a Resident Evil game on 3DS (in Europe at least) and is publishing the Wii U version of Ninja Gaiden 3 and Bayonetta 2.[QUOTE="killzowned24"]

I certainly have the money for it, but alas, I am without the desire for now... maybe down the road if it can separate itself from what the 360 and ps3 already do I'll look into it, but for now, its a no... and easily avoided. I need to see if Nintendo has another approach than just "nostalgia"... I always root for Nintendo, but they never live up to it for me... anymore, anyway.
How i can avoid it? Its weak and i don't waste money on supposed to be *next gen* weakass systems. Has only 1 game i would even bother trying (ZombiU) and there's pretty much nothing else even worth mentioning... I actually don't understand how can a gamer not avoid a 360 1.5 released in 2012. I can understand Nintendo fanboys buying it cuz they're fueled of nostalgia but other than that the system shouldn't be anything worth your money.silversix_
Translation: "I am a fanboy and won't buy anything Nintendo." Pot meet kettle.
