[QUOTE="kobraka1"]yes but I do not see a point. little big planet outdid mario and did it badly. Shinobishyguy:lol: you can't be serious Cows are amazing. LOL
i still watch animation like Family guy and South park cause its more mature in its humour and not as juvenille razgriz_101I watch them too but I would say they are totally not mature and pretty juvenile. sure it's inappropriate for young kids but that doesn't make it mature either :)
And how is Family Guy "mature". funsohng
My exact same though, i think is a really childish show trying to hard to be for Adults.
[QUOTE="pitty8982"]I stopped watching cartoons around 19 years old, just lost interest, maybe they became too kiddish for me,abuabedAnimes are not only intended for children and teens you know? I've got plenty of animes that scream: "+18" The people who say anime and certain games are just for kids are the types that never really were into games or anime in the first place. Casual gamers or non gamers and very casual anime fans at best.
I'm with you my friend. As someone that works part time and goes to college full time, it's not worth it anymore. I demand an engaging experience when playing, not just a challenge. I got 130+ stars through on SMG2... and I stopped, I decided to play other games instead. Something with a story I can enjoy, or something that feeds my love for competition.I stopped watching cartoons around 19 years old, just lost interest, maybe they became too kiddish for me, I can't really tell. well I do watch The Simpsons or Family Guy from time to time, but I'd not define them as classic cartoons, as they cater to a more adult audience.
Well of course I also used to play and love those Nintendo franchises as Super Mario, Kirby, Zelda, Metroid, Donkey Kong and I still love them, just my excitements stops as long as I'm playing one of these games. I think that Super Mario Galaxy looks fantastic, yet I feel like forcing myself to play it, same for Zelda and dunno about Metroid Other M as I've not played it. I look at the upcoming Wii titles - especially Kirby's Epic Yarn - and I'm like woah I gotta put my hands on those games, but I'm afraid that it's just nostalgia and I need to move on with more "mature" games?
I'm 27 years old, btw, just curious if any of you guys've experienced or is experiencing the same thing as I do, or something similar

Animes are not only intended for children and teens you know? I've got plenty of animes that scream: "+18" The people who say anime and certain games are just for kids are the types that never really were into games or anime in the first place. Casual gamers or non gamers and very casual anime fans at best. I don't think anyone made that claim. Though I have only skimmed these pages. I think what people are saying is that they want more substance in their games. Lots of cartoons (no one mentioned animes) are straight forward. I know some adults that like Spongebob, why? It sort of breaks that with the adult undertone. I personally don't like Mario, Zelda games anymore because at most, they pose a virtual challenge. A puzzle or obstacle, etc. I absolutely loved Uncharted 1 and 2 because of their stories. Games like STALKER and Demon's Souls both immerse me with their atmosphere. TF2 and Tribes 2 suffice my competitive needs, and racing sims feed my passion of driving cars, while, like the mario games, pose a challenge. The way I see it, why just buy a game that gives me a challenge, when I can buy a game that challenges me, while entertaining me?[QUOTE="abuabed"][QUOTE="pitty8982"]I stopped watching cartoons around 19 years old, just lost interest, maybe they became too kiddish for me,Bigboi500
someone misunderstood me, I see.
I never said that I can't watch cartoons or play certain games because I think they're for kids, on the contrary, I said that I'd like to enjoy them as I did years ago, but I often find myself not enjoying them at all. That's why I wrote "mature" in quotation marks. I know that blood and guns don't make a game more mature than a colorful platformer or so.
But I see that many of you guys can still enjoy them, I'm glad, maybe I just need to try harder.
You shouldn't need to "try" to enjoy something. Im in the same boat as you. Just find a game you like.someone misunderstood me, I see.

Oh yeah, Family Guy is VERY mature.tagyhag
Allot of the jokes they use would require you to at least have knowledge of the 70s-80s
Farting noise when Meg talks.... not so much.

I play Halo, Gears, and Cod, ...and i play the Mario games and 2-D games like Murramassa. I intend on getting Epic Mickey and Kirby too. Its generally "family" type games that turn my stomach; games like the Boom Blox series that ruin the gameplay with very childish presentation and music....its just insulting to me.
can i play the best games on the market yes. to say wii is teh kiddiy in ether il informed or simply fanboyish

So, basically, I'm the only one who noticed this and loled?
Ofcourse I can still play Nintendo games I was just playing Pokemon Heartgold I'm at the Elite 4 for the first time I just got back into playing it.
i can relate, im 27 myself and is pondering the same things, but you just have to remember that miyamoto even said himself that he didnt make mario galaxy for hardcore gamers like the first mario bros, he admited to watering down the gameplay to make it easier and he admits its not his best work, heck, miyamoto didnt even create mario galaxy his dev team did, the only games that are worth playing on wii are the games that miyamoto had a hand in making which are wii fit, wii music, wii sports, and super punchout...i remember when mario bros for NES was in arcades and all people of all ages used to play that like donkey kong in the 70's. when a game is rated for everyone thats what it means, for everyone not just kids or grown ups. kinda like chess and checkers.
No. I completely and thoroughly disagree with this. Nintendo titles are classics and always will be. Sometimes I want a adult themed story and a cinematic approach, while other times I want some good ol platforming awesomeness that is mario.
Actually for me it is quite the contrary. After playing so many amazing PS3 games, I realized I needed a break from so much cinematic adult themed games that all have these similar approaches. I love MGS4, and I also love Mario 64. I don't know who would not enjoy themselves when playing Mario 64. Oh and btw my two favorite games of all time are Diablo II and Ocarina of Time. Quite the contrast there.
I remember years ago when Pokemon Red and Blue came out and my friend got it for his birthday. We both thought, "lame!", then he opened it and started playing and I went out and bought a copy. Haha figured I would share that :P.
It has nothing to do with "maturity". Games exist for one purpose: to be fun and instill fun in you as you play them. If you don't feel like the games are fun anymore, maybe it's time to find a new hobby, not start sampling what others claim as "mature" games.
Well, I'm 24, I don't even watch TV since it takes time I could be using to play games or simply work. I still watch anime occasionally like for example: "Welcome to the NHK" (incredible anime BTW) or "Toradora" and I play games from every genre but right now I been playing mostly retro games for some reason (playing FFVI right now) and anxiously waiting for Gran Turismo 5!
About the Mario thing well, I kinda understand... It is not that I'm too grown up to play Mario games because I still play games like Ratchet & Clank, it is just that seriously, I'm tired of the Mario franchise and Galaxy was an overrated piece of crap. About the new Zelda? I don't like the art style, it's horrible... It is a combination of impressionism, which I like, but it is ruined with the kiddy touch and exaggerated expressions of the enemies that make them look very silly.
The new Metroid game was mighty fine, I was really impressed with Nintendo letting one of their IP to have cut-scenes and an actual coherent story but they had to ruin everything with stupid plot devices...
im 31 and i still love metroid and mario. its not about nostalgia as i dont play certain nintendo franchises i used to play but nintendo still has good games. if you feel to "mature" for them then thats your own opion of yourself. i however could care less what general audience is geard for what. i play good games regardless. i suppose youll be skpping out on Epic Mickey then too...slvrraven9yea im skipping epic mickey lol mickey mouse games are for kids lol unless its like kingdom hearts and has a nice story and cinematic feel to it

Lol, do people even know what Mickey's origins are like? Not really suitable for kids haha. And the new mickey game is touching upon all the aspects of the mickey universe, which is really cool and will appeal to the older audience that knew of these origins. BTW, Yoshi is the man :P.
