I think it has more to do with Nintendo not catering enough to the hardcore fanbase. Perhaps that will change at this years e3.
The hardcore guys are mad that others are getting to enjoy what was their hobby. Not to mention the fact the Wii beats the competition in sales.
well us system warriors are hardly the target audience of the Wii.
I suppose the could spawn some heft amounts of hate.
I for one always get turned off when I look at the store shelves and find that the most interesting games are SMG and a bunch of ports from last gen.
Edit: SMG does however look awesome.

Nintendo caters fine to its core base, its been doing the same damn thing for three generations now. The so called hardcore "abandoned" the N64 and Gamecube. Now Nintendo are branching out as well as producing the same content they always do, the hardcore cry foul. Nintendo isnt "your" comapny any more. You need to face the fact they have always produced accessable games, they have always had a younger demographic than sony, and its the third parties that are lacking, not Nintendo themselves.
("you" isnt necessarily aimed at you, sorry, Im just sick of the "Nintendo isnt catering to the hardcore fanbase anymore" crap)
I wouldnt get your hopes up for E3 beyond Pikmin 3 and Sin & Punishment 2.
What's up with the recent Sheep-Defense fprce threads? Every console get bashed for whatever reason.

 @ ''Warriors'' I don't like the Wii itself because of it's lack of power, it feels stuck in the past. But the Wiimote and Nunchuck are a completely different story, it's one of my favourite controller of all time. If the Wii was up-to-date by today's standards then I wouldn't have a thing to complain about the console itself. But dated hardware keeps the Wii 8 years in the past.well us system warriors are hardly the target audience of the Wii.

The Wii gets bashed way more than the 360 or PS3.
Guess the sheep have snapped :P
I think I can honestly say the PS3 hate overshadows the Wii hate. Of course, it doesn't halp the wii much when threads like these are created.
[QUOTE="Silverbond"]Has nothing to do with other people enjoying it, its the fact that they're lacking in things that make me enjoy it. which didnt use to be the case. Just watch invisible walls on Gt, the last segment of that kinda expresses why. The Wii sucks when compared to the other systems. IT SUCKS. i know it's always called "Wii bashing" or people like oath call us all 'graphics whores' but that's just BS, just look at E3 last year THEY ARE A CAUSAL GAMING COMPANY, why can't i be pissed if they think the best game ever is Wii Music for Wii sports resort. Nintendo thinks you can just throw casual crap against the wall and some of it will stick, honestly I don't care for 90% of what the Wii ever shows. I just don't enjoy it anywhere near the other systems, especially the PC and 360.The hardcore guys are mad that others are getting to enjoy what was their hobby. Idk, considering many dont ever try to mention the Wii in these parts, and cows seem to run rampant, thats debatable, atleast in my opinion.
Yep, these threads dont help the Wii at all, but try telling that to EpiphonMan2008 :P

Fact: Game by game, ignorign stuff like Wii Music, the Nintendo lineup for the Wii is better than the GCs one.
Oh my god, that is not a fact. The Wii's first party line up pales in comparison to the cube.
Nintendo isn't "Hardcore" enough for System Wars. A game needs to be filled with ridiculous amounts of gore, and brown and bloom graphics for SW to be seen playing it. Anything else would just seem too kiddy. Overcompensating and ignoring any game that seems too bright and fun is the only way to game for a hardcore gamer such as myself!LittleHands134
I have a feeling your sarcasm is going to be lost on quite a few people here.
You mistake Nintendo Wii hate with generic Nintendo hate. I love my NES, SNES, N64 and Gamecube games. But I despise my Wii.
the point is
if nintendo would have made another 360/ps3 rip off nobody would have cared and they probably would have gone the way of sega
farnham
This is very true. I don't really like the wii or it's motion controls, but I can't fault Nintendo for their strategy.
P.S. I also own a ds, which I love, so I in no way hate Nintendo, just not keen on the wii.

No, it does not. What do you see in the cube that isn't for the Wii? 2 Metroids instead of one? (because the generation is not over btw,). But anyway, when its so called fanbase labels stuff like Excitebots as "shovelware" that's to be expected. And about 2009 E3, I don't need the attention of some corporate publicity man in order to feel happy and enjoy the games.
Nintendo fans: What is this, its not Zelda!OMG, Nintendo abandoned us!

I agree with you on the part about Nintendo not catering to the hardcore, they haven't since SNES in my opinion, and even then a lot of that was 3rd party. I realized that when I was in high school back in the early to mid 1990's. So it really makes no difference to me. I moved on to Sony consoles during the first playstation. And was also a Sega fan. The PS1 was the first console aimed at the older gamer. Nintendo took its place at the younger audience. I think the problem is that there are a bunch of gamers that started gaming as a small kid with n64 or gamecube and now nintendo has become even more casual and they feel betrayed....but they shouldn't really, nintendo targets kids and now non-gamers. It's always been this way. You are older, time to move on to a more mature console.....Sony is the way to go, if you like fantastic 1st party, decent 3rd party, and quirky creative and Japanese titles. MS is the place to go if you like Halo... My point is Nintendo's auidenance is the same as it's ever been just expanded, you didn't you grew up and nintendo like always didn't grow with you. Do what i did back in 1995----move on![QUOTE="Silverbond"]Has nothing to do with other people enjoying it, its the fact that theyre lacking in things that make me enjoy it. which didnt use to be the case. i dont know there are a lot of adult gamers that love nintendo..
but yes.. nintendo tends to cater to a younger crowd then lets say GTA
Nintendo is doing fine to cater to core gamers this year. Excitebots, Punchout!!, Fire Emblem DS have already been released. Sin and Punishment 2, Tact of Magic and Dynamic Slash are on their way. Motion+ seems promising, they just need to announce one major first party game at E3 now. SMR-VenomNo offence but that list, probably wit hthe ex ception of fire emblen is weak.

Why? The Punch Outs are one of the best games ever made, and finally, after like 20 years, we have a new entry. Excitebots its ace, one the best off the best arcade racers this gen.

L4D, SF4, DaW2, Re5... you know what they have in common? they are all PC games, I don't need a Ps3/360 to play those. Punch Out and Excite Truck on the other hand... Also: Punch Out and Excite Truck are excellent games, and pure consoles experiences. What i want off a console, unique experiences. Also, Madworld, HoDT:OK and the flawed but ambitious and unique Deadly Creatures... (since you are now including third parties).

They have developed more AAA games than any other company in history. The DS is awesome and the Wii offers something different. Do we really need another console like 360 and PS3? 98.5 % of the games on those two consoles are exactly the same multiplats. I thinks its partially that people are upset that the Wii is much more successful than their favorite consoles. longprocess98.5% of those multiplats aren't on the Wii, so stop hating.

First Party and Third Party mean nothing to me, theyre all developers in the end. but the wii? Zelda: TP : Average rehash, was underwhelming to say the least, wether its ME thats changed or what, excpectations were not met, it was rather an average game. Mario Kart Wii : PRetty decent, again, slow paced, dumbed down, ITem-based-luck-racer, suprisingly with the best online on WII SADLY, it was still poor compared to what is offered elsewhere. Smash Bros Brawl : CAnt fault the content, online was the biggest disapointment of the entire system, japanese are terrible with online, theyre ironically so far behind with online its just not funny. (Hell even the PS3 had a huge delay on anything worthwhile.) Mario Galaxy : I loved Super Mario 123world, MArio 64 ... MArio Galaxy was more creative, but again, it just screamed another typical easy game (ironically the opposite to the older itterations.) a fun "little" game. As for your third parties? MAdworld : Ironically against all the wii-fanboys statements against gore/maturity this game is nothing special. I havnt played little king story yet, but the rest of the list is weak in comparison, not because of thier graphics... it just all feels "small time" now. and I say that for a reason, I sold my wii for this very reason. Why are you even listing those games? I am talking about 2009... Also, Madworld isn't just praised for its graphics/gore/violence. Believe it or not, it actually is fun to play. Also, you and I can't really comment on LKS because we have not played it. However, its average score is 88 from 21 reviews on Metacritic...so I will just let that do the talking.
The hardcore guys are mad that others are getting to enjoy what was their hobby.
The thing is others are enjoying it at the expense of us.
They have developed more AAA games than any other company in history.
Has nothing to do with Wii, which has the least AAA games. N64 is my favorite console of all time but Wii might be one of the worst, and I do have one.
The DS is awesome and the Wii offers something different.
PSP is better in my opinion and Wii's "different" offering is lame as hell imo.
Do we really need another console like 360 and PS3? 98.5 % of the games on those two consoles are exactly the same multiplats.
You'd be right except for the fact that atleast 40% of PS3's games these days are exclusive and you won't be able to find on a 360, check out 2008,2009,2010 PS3 lineup and there's way too many exclusives to choose from.
I thinks its partially that people are upset that the Wii is much more successful than their favorite consoles.
I don't care at all about sales, I care about games, and Wii has about 2-3 that are worth the money.

I love Fire Emblem , own that one and all the others, even the imports.) The Ds does get some gems, but they aren't 1st party games they are 3rd party games. Atlus games are usually great and they are on both nintendo and Sony consoles.... The newest game from them The Dark Spire, is freakn amazing , it's like playing old school Wizadry. But that's for ds, which still has some great games on it.
It's because it's had a very poor line up this generation compared to ther other systems, and now it hasn't had a really good game in over a year, it's pathetic. I might have been a nintendo fanboy at one point, but I'm giving up on their non handheld systems.
the wii sure did shake up the industry..
but who is blameworthy..?
Nintendo that skyrocketed from last place to first
Microsoft that got a lot of JRPG, western thirdparty support topping even the support the PS2 got and not being able to outsell the wii anywhere.. and still lagging behind in japan..
or Sony that slipped to last place because of pure arrogance..
i mean seriously.. Nintendo did made mistakes this gen but compare them to the competitors and they look like geniuses
