TC I kinda dought a lot of this because there have been a lot of threads of how durable the PS3 is. A while back there was someone that took his system on a tour of duty in Iraq and it went through a whole lot more than any rough handling shipping workers could ever put the thing through and the last time he was on here he was saying it had a lot of battle scares but still worked like new.

Then there was someone talking about how he droped his system and the area around the power button was broken and this system still worked just like it should.

Just a couple of examples I happen to remember seeing on here.

Well I am on my second PS3 and I had something like your problem with my first one. I checked for the HDD indicator and it wasn't flashing, nothing was saving. I switched the PS3 off after play Uncharted: Drake's Fortune for about 2 hours maximum. The next day I got up, had some breakfast, turned the PS3 on and it said "The HDD appears to be corrupted or something, would you like to repair it?" I select the option "yes" as it was my only option. It repairs to 100%, the system restarts and the same thing just happens over and over again. If it happens again, I am getting a refund and probably save up for next consoles or maybe buy a few games for the Wii or PC.

By the way, you don't have to create a new PSN account, just select "use an existing account" or something similar.

I really would not doubt if ps3 started having problems. The Bluray drive is new tech. I would not be suprised if error codes didnt start happing more often. I havent used mine much in the last year so its still pretty new. I did get the good 60 gig one atleast.

Sony really need to do something about this. Its like whenever you have a Fix to a Problem, the Fix causes another Problem, and the cycle continues. You start to wonder how stable the PS3 hardware really is after all these Fixes. Time will reveal.
