I think it was a smart move putting it on Wii, Japan is the Mushroom Kingdom at this point anyway.DaysAirlines
I think it could also backfire..the wii is catered to casual fans. Placing Monster Hunter on the wii with the difficulty that monster hunter is known for may lead to disaster. I think it would have been incredible on PS3.

doubtful. wii looks like the console version of the DS in japan.
the game will succeed in Japan dont get me wrong, but its just not given to the correct group of gamers on the wii. they may get annoyed with the game especially anywhere out of japan. the difficulty isnt exactly friendly.unknowndrk
Yeah, cuz no Wii owners are hardcore gamers :) I don't think Wii owners need to prove this false any longer.
Monster Hunter 3 should have been on the PS3!
They say it might come at a later point meaning they are just waiting for a bigger install base for the PS3. Capcom is greedy, they should just work on it now instead of canceling the project. I mean by the time the game releases the PS3's install base should be a lot bigger especially the $399 40GB SKU coming out next week.
Capcom just told PS3 owners to "Just wait"
This **** is classic man.
Better buy Lost Planet cows if you want more games from Capcom. Lemmings bought out Dead Rising (1,420,000 world wide) and Lost Planet (1,440,000 world wide) and look at all the love Capcom is giving them! Devil May Cry 4 went multiplat for a reason!
I read Sony fans saying boycott Capcom lol, do it and you'll see more games cancelled.

Yes that would be the smart move
Companies are in it to win it. And winning means money
The PS3's install base should be bigger? But will it be bigger then the Wii's? You can't go on "What ifs" and "Should bes" business 101 doesn't deal with "should be's" and "what ifs"

That may be true, but developers may want to do something big and ambitious. Sure the Wii can provide a different way to play a game but what about a higher quality game that the creator invisions? The Wii would sorta damper that idea. Not in just the gameplay aspect, but the vision as a whole throughout the world of that game. I guess it could go either way.

Yeah you tell that to Shiggy. WiiFit is probably the most ambitious game title coming out. Will I buy it? Hell no. But is it big and ambitious hell yes. The rest of your post is opinion unless you can explain how it would damper the ideas. Because in actuality all consoles damper the ideas of the developer. Only PC can give true realization.

I mean in the quality of say hightextures, sound quality, high defenition. Those types of things in terms of the idea. Visuals that a developer would want to show the gamer. The Wii isn't a powerhouse like the PS3 or 360. It's like asking the question of "Would you rather have Final Fantasy 13 made for the Wii or PS3/360?". My answer would go towards the more powerful console.
quotes are broken for me!
But that aside I disagree. I would rather have FFXIII on the Wii and have a FFXIV then have FFXIII on the PS3 and never see another FF because Square Enix isn't able to recover the cost of this game with the tiny (yes Tiny) install base.

That's the thing. SE is playing it smart and safe. By the time FF13 comes out, the install base of the PS3 will more than likely be well over 10 million. (2009 is my guess to when it'll be out).
maybe... but then again 10 million is kind of bad considingr the base they needed to sell 5 million copies of FFX and FFXII...

FF13 is going to be big. It'll push systems no doubt. It's just a matter of what will the PS3's state be in at that time. Good, bad, or just stuck in limbo? Although if I were Sony, I'd be doing everything in my power to make FF13 a 2008 release.

Tastes change... Sure FF7 and FF10 were system movers... But that doesn't mean 13 will be... Because as sony has found out the hardway peoples tastes change.
Just saying it could happen not that it will.
No i was under the impression that everyone buys the console on the fisrt day and thats that.
Of course. I don't expect the average montly sell through to greatly increase, it'll have spikes but it'll average out again... and if you look at it that way It'll be awhile before the PS3 get's a large install base...
Im just saying Capcom has crunched the numbers... and decided it was more favorable to scrap MH3 for the PS3 and do it for the Wii instead...
Perhaps they know something we don't, or perhaps SE might get the same idea... who knows. But in anycase I can't forsee the PS3's Ave monthly sales home or aborud grow to the point that the the total sales will pass the Wii's total sales anytime soon.
(They would have to not only outsell the Wii but outsell the Wii by a good % each month for more then a year... )

Monster Hunter is the definition of casual in Japan.

Then I'd take it on PC if Power is the issue. In which terms with gaming its never been. Which is why weaker systems continuosly win the console wars.

Perhaps. But you have one problem. Most of the games that we all love and enjoy are found on consoles. Not the PC. Madden? Street Fighter? Tekken? God of War? The list goes on and on.
