THe PS3 is ******* Owned...
This is one of the best selling games in Japan...one that Japaneese people love and buy no matter what the reviews say.
This is a major blow to Sony and the PS3.
Hopefully Sony learns their lesson...but as long as Kaz is in power I don't see that happening....so RIP my beloved PS3.
Wii has OFFICIALLY WON JAPAN.
Japan = Wiiland
USA = 360 Land
Europe = Too many countries to decide who's land...
Its a big hit for PS3 in japan, its very very popular specially in its psp incarnations.
oh yep ps3 version is gone...
http://www.capcom.co.jp/monsterhunter/topic_mh3.html
Whilst I was looking forward to monster hunter 3 on ps3 guess it shortens my game lineup on it, guess my wii lineup goes from 3 titles to 4 now however.
Capcom made a deal with Nintendo. Capcom brings MH3 exclusively to the Wii, and Nintendo adds Mega Man to SSBB ;) Believe!Zhengithen it would be worth it. Still will be interesting to see how MH3 performs with pokemon directly competing with it.Â

However it hasn't yet been confirmed if the ps3 version has indeed been cancelled, just that monster hunter 3 is being made for the Wii.
(I'm happy)

PS3 MH3 pages (all 3 of them) have been removed from the Capcom site...so...
Didn't Capcom recently say that they wanted to focus strictly on the PS3? Or was that just fake news?hotdaisy18
capcom only said change focus from ps2 to nextgen console , not ps3.

Well, the 360 has been their obvious choice, but the Wii? I guess that install base does make the big kicker for them.
They go where the money is at.

In Japan especially, the money = DS + Wii....I get the feeling we going to see more and more Japanese developers abandoning the PS3 ship and catch the Wii. SE site is really disturbing because except the last remenant, there is no release info or any info on the PS3 games at all! Not even a release date for FFXIII yet! Which leads me to believe at the minimum a spin off of FFXIII is on its way to the Wii.
well this is just one title. i think capcom is making a mistake though and i would not be suprised if we see a port later or an all new game. just look at how they did the gamecube last generation. they claimed the resident evil series would be exclusive to it but we all know how that turned out.-Renegade
but this time it turned opposite, monster hunter 3 originally announced as a ps3 exclusive, now is a wii game.:D

The monster hunter series sells extremely well in japan, outside it doesn't sell so much ;) So they are aiming for the most popular console in japan however you won't see a DS version cause the PSP versions sell extremely well (2mil alone for MHF2).

Is it mature/ or a mature style rpg like final fantasy/ or is it More pokemon stuff?
I really feel so sorry for SONY....Failed so bad this generation. I have 3 system and I have constant struggle even among myself and I feel so sad about my PS3 wanna cry for it.
Ideally is developer release the greatest hit for that console so to improve the console sale, but in reality, it's also depended on the console installed base....
By the way, how come Monster Hunter is not popular in US but so popular in Asia? I saw lots of kids playing Monster Hunter Portable in the subway, restaurant, and anywhere in HONG KONG back in June.

Wouldn't surprise me if they all of a sudden re-announce it for the PS3 if the sales picks up.

the wii version is going to be a port of the PC version, just 2 or 3 more monsters and 1 or 2 more maps.
sony must be kicking themselves now, monster hunter is only thing that kept the psp alive in japan, MH 3 for ps3 would have boosted ps3 hardware sales massively. it keeps getting better for wii and worse for the ps3.---OkeyDokey---
Things gonna get really bad for the PS3 if the situation doesn't improves in Japan

The wii version will be based off the ps2 versions or built from the pc engine, the extra content wouldn't surprise me and way more items, weapons and armor but the PC version is a zoned MMORPG ;) Last I checked the Wii online abilities suck.

The only problem is the PS3 is stuck in the same rut that MS is finding in Japan. The PS3 needs games like MH to be successful in Japan, but then again, Capcom will not release games like MH on the system unless it is successful. ps3 will be fine... the price drop will start november 11. bluray has 90% of HD movie sales over there. and games will start coming with dmc4 ratchet, and mgs4. over there the 360 is pretty much a zombie. here some people may be wii60, but over there it's more like playwii.[QUOTE="Sollet"][QUOTE="-Renegade"][QUOTE="wiiwillwiiwill"][QUOTE="-Renegade"]well this is just one title. i think capcom is making a mistake though and i would not be suprised if we see a port later or an all new game. just look at how they did the gamecube last generation. they claimed the resident evil series would be exclusive to it but we all know how that turned out.StryderK

I don't know much about this game but IGN is reporting that the Wii version has been announced with no mention of what's happening to the PS3 version.
Capcom did however mention that the MH franchise will be a "multiplatform" franchise.
I don't think it's surprising for Capcom to announce more gams for Wii considering its success. Coming to PSP too. I don't see why Capcom wouldn't bring it to PS3 as well.

Is MH big in Japan?
Sony needs FF to be successful there. It's unfortunate that it won't arrive till late next year at the earliest so Sony has to find a way to bring Japanese gamers in quickly, before the Wii solidifies its spot over there.
Or maybe the consoles can co-exist. Who knows? It's way too early to see what will happen. The market over there changes really quickly.

Of course the two biggest franchises (Other than the poke-mageddon bomb. But then again, that's only for Nintendo. I'm talking third-party here) are FF and DQ.
We all know the chance of a DQ game going to the PS3 is pretty slim since DQ, especially main-line DQ have always gone to the console that sells the most in Japan and right now, that is looking pretty slim for Japan. FF is a given. However, if you say you console only have those two games is like a U.S. console trying to survive only on GTA and Halo! Ain't going to happen!
MH will never be as big and FF or DQ and Pokemon. But it DOES drives sales and does sell alot of games. Read MH on the PSP! Yes, our attention is focused on the big games but its all the "Little" games that really makes a console complete. Games like Forza, Metriod, BWii, etc. Those games that sales between the 500K-2million copies range and make you buy the console because they are, as a whole, makes the console even more appealing!
Unfortunatly, because they are not in the "legendary" status like FF, MGS, SSBB, Super Mario etc, developers tends to be leery about putting them on a console with subpar install base. That's why I gave that analogy about PS3 needing MH to be successful. Yes, it got some great in coming franchise like MGS, FF, WKS etc....But PS3 also needs the so call "Little Guys" to really gets it moving and make it really appealing, especially to casual! This is what Sony desperatly needs right now!
nah, the ps3 version seems to have been removed from capcoms website. its probably cancelled. and yes its really big in japan, sells like 2 million over there each game.I don't know much about this game but IGN is reporting that the Wii version has been announced with no mention of what's happening to the PS3 version.

Yeah, it really does need more standout games. I can see Sony getting their act together (2008 lineup looks great) but it's taking ages for the games to be released, and by the time they are, publishers may already have stopped supporting the console in favour of the Wii.
So yeah, I agree that Sony needs to work harder right now. They should try and get the next DQ as an exclusive. FF and DQ again on one console would push sales extremely well, just like what they did with the PS2.

Here's the difference, though. The GCN had slow sales from the beginning (comparable to the PS3's sales) and the PS2 was already slaughtering everything. The RE exclusivity contract was born out of a large sum of money from Nintendo (and mind you it held for the most part, only RE4 was ported). On the other hand, the Wii is slaughtering the PS3 in japan so as they are now, Capcom is already were the money.[QUOTE="StryderK"]Of course the two biggest franchises (Other than the poke-mageddon bomb. Yea, my biggest worry for Sony is that by the time those stand out games comes out, the developers has already abandoned ship, leaving the PS3 REALLY in a rut. 2008 looks good. But if Sony don't fix the problem NOW, then the PS3 might just drop so far behind it won't have any hope to catch up! That would be bad because then Sony would really be stuck in that stupid circle I was talking about! The same circle Nintendo will probably have nightmares for years because that's what happened tot he N64 and GC draughts! I don't think Sony want to be in for ex. MGS 4 comes out, a short spike, wait for 5 months, FFXIII, spike....3 months draught....WKS....That isn't what made PS1 and PS2 a success!

FF is actually bigger in The West then it is in Japan. DQ on the other hand....wow  i love my Wii (heh never gets old :P) but i feel a little bit betrayed!
i really wanted my MH3 experience to be next-gen graphic-wise!
but with MH3 getting released on Wii we won't be seeing that graphical overhaul... hmmm guess i'll have to wait and see (afterall MHF blew me away, maybe capcom can pull it again and WOW us ;))
