I have been playin fallout new vegas recently and i have to say it is really good game. Everything i loved from fallout 3 is back and more. However there is one thing that keeps fallout new vegas from usurping fallout 3 as my favourite rpg and that is the mojave wasteland(ihope im spellin itrite).when i played fallout 3 i loved justradnomly through the capital wasteland to see wat i could find. The scenery and the people and enemies u met totally it made it worthjustturning around in a circle for a cuple of secs and walking in the direction that i stopped.but i just dont get that experience with the mojave wasteland. its very similar to the capital wasteland but it just at times a bit too bland for me. so anyways wat do u prefer the capital wasteland or the mojave wasteland

Well that's even worse... Anyways, The Mojave Wasteland is much, much, MUCH better than The Capital Wasteland. There is way more unique things to see, there's actually signs of civilization (people were living in the freakin dirt in FO3. This is supposed to be hundreds of years after the bombs dropped, people), COLOR, no subway tunnels, an actual sense of danger (Deathclaws are there as soon as you start the game), more quests and definitely more interesting characters.

To make this thread alive, I would stay on topic.

Mojave wasteland FTW for me. Mojave is so much fun to explore than The Capital. Capital wasteland is nothing but chunks of rocks, no deserts and open fields. Certain places in Mojave are definitely better than Capital's. Then again, it's just my opinion, so don't go bashing me :P

Personally, the Capital Wasteland had more interesting places to rummage around in...New Vegas, there's not a whole lot you can do in a desert (although there were some pretty neat places I've stumbled on) and Vegas itself is pretty underwhelming (I know you can't expect some elaborate views in a nuked out world, but I can't help but think the journey to getting there was more spectacular than actually being there :?). Although I'm not quite finished with the game yet (I'm at the point where I'm pretty much deciding whose favor I want to be in) so I'm just basically messing around in the game until I'm ready to actually beat it (no rush though, being a "once it's over, it's over" ending and all :P).

QFT, I completely agree with this.

The Mojave Wasteland is way more detailed and dense, the Capital Wasteland was absolutely boringly bland.

ya ur rite about that but it was the expereince that i had when roaming the captal wasteland that it makes it my favourite. fallout 3 was my first fallout game. (i have played fallout 3, new vegas and brotherhood of steel). But i do kinda of agree that the mojave wasteland is more detailed

OH and what about the companions, I meet a guy called boone, and he's killing everything for me, I just stand there a let him at, I might have to get rid off him.

Fallout NV, okay maybe it's not a small as I thought, didn't seem as big when I looked at it on my pit boy, Fallout 3 still a little bit bigger

Indeed, unless empty space makes Fallout 3 better I fail to see the argument here... I haven't noticed which is bigger, both are huge.

You know your including all that space around the main gaming area in Fallout NV which you can't explore, yeah open up your pit boy and look at all the area on the map you can't go to, it's not even part of the game world, just filler to make the map look bigger than it is In Fallout 3 every where on the map is accessible

Doesn't Fallout 3 cut off portions of DC with heaps of debris just because they were lazy and wanted you to crawl around in the metro? Lol that is ridiculous.

That's the number of locations, not the size of the map. FO3 has a bigger map, but there are more empty space and distances between locations are longer.

The Mojave Wasteland is vastly superior, because It's feels alive and connected, unlike the Capital Wasteland which each location feels isolated from the rest of the world. Also, New Vegas feels like a game in the same universe of the first two games, with a lot of references to Fallout and Fallout 2.

I agree, a little more pieces of civilization and more quests would have brought some good to the Capital Wasteland and also let me mention the "green filter" of Fallout 3 (though in NV, it was replaced by the "orange filter", but Fellout: NV gets rid of that).

Fallout 3 has a bigger world, but no way in hell it has more things to do than Fallout: New Vegas. New Vegas has three times more NPCs and quests. Also, the explorable areas are way more interesting than the previous game.

I like the Capital Wasteland 1000 times better. The Capital Wasteland was such a striking world, the atmosphere and locations are simply incredible. Mojave felt like any old desert which felt so barren and boring to explore, save for the occassional enemy or something.

Arguing about which is better is like arguing, "What's the better color? Beige or tan?"

They both have long desolate stretches in them with some interesting spots. They are both WASTELANDS after all.

So far I've enjoyed the Capital Wasteland a lot more, probably because I was there first and Obsidian didn't do enough to distinguish NV graphically from Fallout 3. Everything looks the same.

Shamefully I'm yet to play Fallout NV :(

Despite Obsidian taking over, i'm still on the fence about it. I'm trying to limit my spending on games, since the vast majority I buy I end up not playing past the hour mark

It is. I spent hours trying to find ways around it to avoid going down those long, repetitive metro tunnels but there is no way around it. To get to downtown you HAVE to use the tunnels, which is lame. Sometimes you can see where you need to go, only to have fallen buildings with invisible walls on top to keep you from jumping over them.

Doesn't Fallout NV have you exploring 1/3 of the map, straight down the middle with two huge area's of nothing right on each side

Shamefully I'm yet to play Fallout NV :(

Despite Obsidian taking over, i'm still on the fence about it. I'm trying to limit my spending on games, since the vast majority I buy I end up not playing past the hour mark

if u liked fallout 3 ull like NV although i think 3 is a bit better

But Obsidian are just ... Amazing.

Amazing? Yeah, they know who to make an amazing broken game. NV shows that they seem to not be able to make a game that isn't horribly broken. I'm digging NV quite a bit but I can't ignore the fact that the game is even buggier than Fallout 3, which is a pretty astounding feat. Even after the patch there are still broken quests.

Capital Wasteland easily. In my opinion the Mojave Wasteland didn't feel post apocalyptic. In the Capital Wasteland you really feel like the world has no hope. It's a desolate and extremely dangerous wasteland yielding many rewards for those brave enough to venture out deep into it. The gloomy, dark setting felt much more atmospheric to me as well.

They make great games ... That happen to beplagued by bugs. I don't really care about bugs. Alpha Protocol is one of my favorite games this gen. Vampire The masquerades, a buggy mess is one of my favorite games of all time, along with NWN2.

I didn't find any bugs in Fallout 3 ... But i'm sure theree are many.

Obsidian didn't make either Vampires game. The first game was made by Nihilistic and the second was done by Troika.

As for Alpha Protocol..I glad you liked it. It thought it was terrible, probably their worst game. No definitely.

18 hours in I have not had a single bug, except for some animation glitches which correct themselves after a second or two. I knew it would happen, for some reason I never seem to experience these bugs like people make out. Maybe it's because people who experience the bugs are "louder".

It kind of makes sense doesn't it? People who have problems will complain, people who don't, won't.

I've come across a bug that will not allow me to finish a quest properly. it's part of the "main" NCR storyline.

Do a google search on "I put a spell on you" and see what people are saying about the monorail.

I haven't done that one but the only quest bug I've come across so far was easily fixed with a console command.

Unfortunately I am playing the 360 version ATM. This will be remedied soon when I get the PC version probably next week. Yes the PC version makes the bugs easier to deal with....sorta.And there are the mods....

I enjoyed the Capital Wasteland more too, it was much more interesting and entertaining to explore, as were the towns, the majority of New Vegas towns are either small, or just consist of a bunch of unnamed NPCs. And, yes, I'm aware New Vegas has more quests and locations, it still doesn't make those quests and locations nearly as interesting as Fallout 3's though.
