[QUOTE="GreySeal9"]I can't prove his claim. Where did I say that I could?
I would assume that he's either a) delusional or b) transgender.
The thing is: you're taking a moderate argument and making it extreme. Nowhere did I say that a man is a woman because he says so.

Now we're getting somewhere.
The point of the exercise here is to demonstrate that if not A, then by virtue of B, the answer will also be A as well as B. Because his claim can NOT be substantiated, the concept of gender-identity canot by assumed.
I will accept that you haven't said a man is a woman or vice versa based on heresay alone. However, what I would point out is that you have little else with which to draw a conclusion.
Why exactly are you trying to apply this kind of simple logic to such a complex issue? This is the problem with your argument. You're trying to simplify the issue as much as possible to confirm your biases. There is absolutely no rule saying that the issue of transgenderism must be boiled down to what resembles an equation.
There is a huge difference between a man simply saying that he is a woman and body of testimony from which one can piece together gender indentity.
[QUOTE="GreySeal9"]That you boil this issue down to "A is A" shows why you're being so hardheaded about this. Weird for a psych major to think this way. Maybe you should stick to engineering.
Also, how do you know that you're negatively impacting someone by reaffirming their gender indentity? What physchological literature leads you to believe this?Pariah_001
In every scientific field, the objective is used to substantiate the claim. A proves A. It doesn't really contradict anything.
This is where me and contemporary fields of psychology disagreed immensely. I wasn't studying psychiatry mind you. I was only interested in research, but a huge part of the psychiatric field is to not fuel the delusion regardless of feelings. The majority of people, like you, believed that gender-identity isn't a delusions. I did. And there you have it.
But again, what evidence---besides your own opinion---leads you believe this?
People need to get over Carolyn Petit's gender Identity. In fact Im confused as to how thats even remotely relevant to the GTAV review or the reviewer's capability to do her job.II_Seraphim_II
It's not. But GameSpot's resident manbabies act downright spiteful about her gender indentity.
Who the f**k cares who reviews it or what score it gets, lol
Most here have it pre-ordered anyway so they know its going to be a game they enjoy.
This is one of those games where reviews are pretty pointless. Its GTA,everyone knows what they are getting.

But that's the thing. It's only complicated if gender-identity exists. The process of substantiating it is simple even if fleshing it out--assuming it actually exists--is not.

I said this a couple pages ago: it's not a particular piece of evidence against it that leads me to believe what I believe. It's a lack of evidence supporting it.
AgreedWhy don't we wait and see what the review is going to be like before we lynch the reviewer?

So true. Its not like people are going to say "oh no! Carolyn Petit gave it a 7.0, now I can't enjoy the game! "Who the f**k cares who reviews it or what score it gets, lol

This thread is what happens when a person has a tendency to involve his or her social views with his or her job (see also: Petit).

Okay. For the sake of argument, let's say that gender indentity is a delusion.
What causes this "delusion?"

Good question.
Obsession can manifest from, basically, anything. Essentially, some individuals became so fixated on the idea of being the opposite gender that the obsession took on a life of its own. As time passes, LGBT movements become more ingrained in society, legislation, culture, etc. the idea of being transgender becomes more prevalant as it gets more exposure. From there, culture becomes the main sociological culprit for cultivating the behavior.
I was going to right a wall of text, but there's a big emergcecy so I have to go. Enjoy the last word. Cheers.
OH LMFAO! Yeah this game is going to score a 6/10 because the main story of GTA 5 will be focused on heists instead of the trials and tribulations of the transsexual/transgender community. Ok maybe that was an exaggeration but I do remember reading an article where Caroyln was complaining about a lack of transgender/transsexual characters in Persona 4. So I wouldn't be surprised if it did happen.
I don`t care who Carolyn is or what she does, or her writing style, but she does have one of the most unpleasant voices for recording. Her video review will be very painful to listen.
What do people here have against carolyn petit? Is it because she's a woman and you don't want a woman reviewing your most anticipated game? She is a professional, correct? So what's the problem?jessejay420I don't think people really care about Carolyn's gender identity. The issue people have with Carolyn is that this person has a history of making articles that nitpick games and label them as sexist when they don't fit Carolyn's brand of feminism.
