Ummmmm. Harmony of Despair won't be on any discs. It's an xbox live game. Also, it will certainly be better than Lords of Shadow, because we all know that 3d castlevania games suck.

Ouch. That sucks. Having 1 scratch resistant Blu Ray Disc owns so much more. The things PS3 owners get to take for granted...
360 = oh noes 5 or 6 games are on multiple discs
vs.
ps3 = oh noes 5 or 6 multiplats are better on ps3
all i can tell you is set your priority and make your choice.

I was actually thinking he meant harmony of despair. wouldnt make sense cause its on xbox live.
Well, it looks like I'll be getting the PS3 version then, unless they offer more to the 360 version.
Cox said that - despiteHideo Kojima's involvement in LOS- cut-scenes weren't to blame. "They're pretty short," he commented. "Our longest one is 14 minutes, which is the end sequence... The game's around 24 hours long and every level's different. We have so much variety and we re-use very little assets."
24 hours.. wow. This game is either going to be awesome or really boring!

its going to be the combination of the two. awesome to others wile boring to thers
prooably will get it heres a demo or gets good reviews
The question is , will the Ps3 version have a Mandatory install ?
If so , there is hardly a difference then !
You're CLEARLY in the position to tell devs how to make their games  Crysis 1, Dirt 2, most current gen PC games are > 8gigs... They have 1 install dvd because its compressed on the disc, but consoles don't have that luxury of installing FULL games.again i said this on GT. its just terrible dev work.
theres maybe 3-4 games that have a legit reason for needing more than a dvd.

zero_snake99
actually no.
crysis 1 is 6gb fully uncompressed including the editor.
warhead is less than 6gb
fallout 3 is less than 6gb
assasins creed 6gb
STALKER less than 6gb
world in conflict 6gb
thats uncompressed with all the file settings.
if those games can take up less than 8gb almost any game can. crysis has levels than are bigger than some games in their entirety. same with Fallout 3.

Past 3D games for the series have been unsuccessful, this much is true. But that doesn't necessarily condemn all future projects to failure. All it takes is a developer to learn from the past mistakes of itself or others, and to apply that towards improving the process.
And the trailers of this game show much promise of being the first Castlevania game to do 3D right, by simply making it a 3D adaption of the 2D gameplay. I don't mean it'll simply be 3D graphics in a 2D side scrolling formula, just that it expands what the old games did into a 3D space, with how it evolves the whip combat, the massive boss battles, and the exploration of huge environments that are like the 2D castles but brought to life in gorgeous fully dimensional architecture which can immerse the players in the setting in ways the 2D games never could, and of course the evolved platforming and puzzle solving in a 3D space.
Make no mistake, this is the old school castlevania gameplay with all the trademarks you expect, but done in a new visual pallette, and enhanced with the high production cinematics and voice talent. I still stand by what I said earlier, this game looks to overtake Super Castlevania and yes, even Symphony of the Night. Oh yeah, I did go there :P
And as for the disc issue, I never had problems switching discs on the PS1, I won't have any problems doing so here. I mean it's probably only going to happen once during a chapter transition, and then you're just playing the continuation of the story progression from there. Plus as pointed out, mandatory installs is simply a substitute for disc switching, so it's an advantage that's negated.

To be honest I don't see how disc swapping is an issue at all, it's as though gamers got lazier with every generation... complaining about disc swapping makes me wonder alot lol..... though two discs do hurt devs I'd assume.
I couldn't care less for the 2 discs thing, but i have to say that i'm impress with how long the game it's suppose to be, like someone said, it's going to be really fun or really boring.
Personally, i'm hyped for this game, i'm a huge Castlevania fan, and i've liked some of the 3D ones (Legacy of Darkness) and this one looks top notch.
Well, I guess this is good news in a way because the game will be pretty long right? :P
I'm not sure which system to get it on yet. Swapping discs mid game isn't much of a disincentive for me.
I don't see the big deal behind disc-swapping. Good forbid you take 5 secoonds from your life to switch out one disc for another. :?
I am somewhat interested in Castlevania: Lord of Shadows. I've never played a 3D Castlevania before, so I don't know what to expect from the game.
[QUOTE="Grawse"]I don't know what you are talking about.Hopefully it's not the same as the Mass Effect 2 disc swapping fiasco.
lhughey
first part is on disc 1, second part is on disc 2, third part is on disc 1
[QUOTE="gamer-adam1"]
remember when gamers only cared about playing the game?
washd123
no actually considering it hasnt been that way since 1983
people never cared about disc swapping till this gen, people never cared about graphics till the first xbox. did everyone really kept making threads about games being on 2 discs when the PS2 first came out
The solution Mercury Steam is using involves offering an installation option within the first disc on the Xbox 360 version, so that players can enjoy the entire game by simply loading the second disc.Tony-Baxter
Bolded and increased in size for emphasis. You don't have to do any bloody swapping if you really wanted.

if ODST was on 2 discs than I dont see how reach can be on 1
yeah, most likely better graphics and a smoother framerate... but whatever, I mean moving 4 feet to change a disk once is probably a good reason to not get what will most likely be the better version.Well, it looks like I'll be getting the PS3 version then, unless they offer more to the 360 version.

I'm gonna have to assume you never played ODST then. The ODST game itself, both campaign and Firefight mode was on the 1st disc. The 2nd disc was just a compliation of all the Halo 3 multiplayer maps - the original releases on the H3 disc, all the previous DLC map packs, plus 3 new ones that came with that 2nd ODST disc. But the main game itself was on just one disc, the second was essentially a collectors disc.
