easily the best soundtrack of the year. it feels like an epic movie soundtrack.

With the excellent art direction, good story, and fun gameplay....add a top 20 all time greatest soundtrack to the mix.

Here is some songs

I opened them up to give a listen, but I saw the titles "Final Confrontation" and "The End" so I immediately left the pages for spoiler purposes. I know me, I know I'd end up reading the comments and someone would spoil the end for me :P

I also want to experience the music for the first time in the game itself. But I have no doubt it's great. I'm almost done with the game and I've loved it so far.

The song is just awesome period. You could do a remix with cats meowing and it would still be listenable and catchy :P

Definately one of the top ten VG songs ever.

incredible wouldn't be my description, more like generic. When I hear these tunes I feel like I have heard them on many other games and even movies but when I hear the music from FFXIII, well that's what I call an incredible soundtrack even though the game was lame as heck.

Really? I like most of the FF soundtracks, but there isn't a single track except the miniboss and boss theme that I enjoy from XIII.

However, OSTs in the past were more video gamey...this is more on par with a great movie soundtrack. Its a different style for a new style of Castlevania.

Michiru is awesome, but I don't think the whole disco rock thing would work for this game.

I know, it's depressing. I just wish SOMEBODY would do it. Come on Eminence, you've done MGS and SOTC, give Vania some love. Atleast do Vampire Killer

I don't really get what you mean by "new" its been done in 3D 3 or 4 times now and it managed to have an epic soundtrack.

Likethisnothing over the top just great. The music is a letdown like FFXIII music, that's just me.

It's not that's its over the top, it just doesn't fit. Electronic keyboards and synth guitar riffs just don't really match with the gameplay. Especially considering the more western art.

It'd be like putting rave music in RDR or heavy metal in Ico.

You can make something as catchy as the above without using electronic keyboard and synth guitar. The only good track would be when you fight the titan and thats about it.

Orchestra music isn't necessarily supposed to be catchy(it can be), most of the time its used to enhance the moment. I don't exactly humm Inception music all day, for example.

my point being it didn't had to be orchestra, could have had an amazing OST fitting to gameplay and being on par with previous 3D castlevania music. You like it? fine by me, but its a large disappointement to me and music plays a big part when i play a Castlevania game. At least i love the game so its all fine, maybe the music will grow on me, we'll see.

Well Obviously the Upbeat electronica rock music found in IGA Castlevania's would not work...no one is saying they would, however they could've made an OST that fit this game but at the same time captured the same essence as Castlevania.

Instead of the generic "Epic orchestrated" OST that sounds no different from any other game soundtrack coming out nowadays.

Like I said in another thread,it seems Mercury Steam went to Bioware and was like "Hey do you guys have any throwaway Dragon Age Origins songs we could use for our game?"

Back to my Batman Analogy (need to make a Blog of that)

It reminds me of Hans Zimmer's The Dark Knight Theme.

It's not Danny Elfman's Batman theme but it's Great on it's own.

I agree that the OST could use more throwbacks such as Vampire Killer or Bloody Tears, I just don't think music that tries to capture the essence of old CS would fit as well as the current ost. You've got to think about it in the context of the game itself, not as a 2D sidescrolling Vania.

It really dont bother me that Vampire Killer or Bloody tears isnt in the game.

But when I say essence,I mean have the same feel, not so much the exact sound of the 8-bit/16-bit games.

for example a dark, haunting, subtle, atmospheric OST opposed to the Orchestrated fantasy/LOTR like music found in LOS.

I must admit,I kinda like Belmont's theme as well as the remake of the Waterfall music from CV4.

The band Powerglove did the best job recreating the cla$$ic NES Castlevania music IMO, including Bloody Tears, all in one epic track:

Yes it is, and the entire game is incredible as well. My only complaint is that the camera goes a bit weird here and there, but nothing major. Beyond that, this game is a near masterpiece for me. The usual 6-8 hour campaigns that are the norm these days look like a joke by comparison. This brings back the good old days where the single player was the game and there is a meaty campaign with a long and epic tale as a result. The game is packed and was made with love. Mercury Steam deserves a huge applause for their efforts here.

Doesn't seem like its been done by Michiru Yamane. :?

*looks it up*

Oh... its done by some Spanish guy. So how many CV cIassics have been integrated into it? Is there some metal elements like in the SOTN soundtrack? What about an electronic organ? Or is it just more orchestrated stuff?

I find the entire lack of the triple thread (Ayame Kojima, Michiru Yamane and Igarashi) disturbing. I'm definitely going to be trying it. Though, its not high on my list. I'm interested to see their interpretation of the IP... but am bummed it isn't another IGA game. I loved Lament of Innocence and Curse of Darkness.

She left Konami in 2oo8 that's why. Don't expect anymore Michiru's music in future Castlevania, including handhelds ones.

I agree, I just dont understand the bad reviews, people say "who cares its just one review". It matters, before I posted here and didnt know crap about games or the web site, I came to GS for reviews, if they said the game sucked I didnt buy it plain and simple, I know better now, but there are alot of people like I was, I think the sales are really going to suffer from those bad reviews. The funny thing is I have seen them rate many worse games higher, its like they had a beef with the game or something.

IGN UK just gave this an 8.5 :o. And this review doesn't look like it was written by an 8th grader.

I haven't listened to it but I just discovered Castlevania music last year and was brilliantly impressed.

I would say the game is a 8.5 at the least. Im sorry but I honestly feel Gs is paid to give good reviews. I see no other explanation

I really like the game so far, but anyone else notice its kinda jerky at times? Like during that first Big Boss fight in teh first chapter. Everytime hed hit the ground, theyre was a stutter.

Are you playing on the 360 or ps3? I bought the ps3 version because I heard the 360 had frame rate issues. I have not noticed that on the ps3 version so far.
