No, publishers thinking every game has to appeal to everyone is your problem.

Casual gamers didn't make these decisions.

Saying that is like saying checkers killed chess, or Uno killed poker. It's dumb. Some people play chess, some prefer checkers. When board game makers make both, everyone is happy. If the game maker tried to combine the two, no one would be happy. So go moan to them.

The thing is, its not casual gamers that are ruining it. Its business and the pursuit oof money that is.

Casual gaming offers a minimal expenditure on investment, and returns maximum profits. Why charge X amount of dollars for a game that costs XX millions of dollars to produce, when you can spend X dollars to produce a different game and still charge the same price? Everyone and their mom wants to maximize profits and casuals really dont give 2 craps around reading reviews or game quality. The educated consumer is the corporations worst enemy. So real gamers who actually have a clue wont just throw their money at mass manufactured "soy substitute" BS like most would. Blame the companies, not the consumers (even though most of them are clueless.) We need a new breed of developers, who can work smarter, better, and still give that awesome experience to the core gamers without being double digit million dollar budgets. Its out there, its just a matter of time. Not everyone in the world is going to become a one minute attention spand casual, (hopeful;ly), at least there will be some who still give a damn.

This thread is full of losers that like to pretend they are "hardcore" and superior to those they deem "casual", I'm not sure what "hardcore" gaming means but no one here is "hardcore". Gaming is a hobby, your all "casual" gamers, if you think otherwise you need to pull your head out of your ass and stop judging people.

Diablo 3 and Halo Reach are all alright games in their own way, if your not happy with them then it's just your taste and no one else's. Besides if your using the term "casual" as many people on here do to refer to games like COD, then Halo and Diablo have always been "casual" games because they have been popular.

That would make games like Resistance or Witcher "hardcore" because they are less popular. See the terms are jokes and everyone who uses them to sepearte people is a joke too.

Diablo 3 could have been an absolute masterpiece. A lot of people say diablo 2 was a casual game to begin with... ok? then why did the go the SUPER CASUAL root, they could have turned this casual game series into something bigger and badder, nicer gothic graphics instead of the kid baloony WOW style.

Halo reach also went the casual root trying to suck in all the cod fans, got rid of the 1 - 50 rank system and their excuse is "boosting" but we all know its because the casual noobs dont want to be told they suck at the game.

The only thing bungie ever had to do was add new weapons, levels, vehicles and graphics. Thats what halo 1 - 3 did with adjustments to gameplay for the better and skillful.

The only reasons to say this are you are either trolling or you have a HUGE sense of entitlement / Sony fan.

Diablo's DRM pisses people off, but the game itself is beyond satisfying to a couple of Diabo nuts I know, and even if Reach was trying to attract COD fans, that is NOT a casual series.

It's threads like this that make "casual games" much more appealing than what passes as hardcore around here (which apparently is nothing. There is a thread calling every major game this gen casual trash somewhere). At least everyone agrees Wii Sports is a casual title and no one argues about it. Plus it's a hell of a lot more addicting than anything else you people worship.

Well tbh games are alot easier these days than they used to be, and companies have simplified this where there's less skill involved than multiplayer games did a decade ago. Really hope it changes, it's ruining muliplayer games. Look at CoD for example; it actually rewards people for doing badly with death streaks.

Diablo 3 is a more casual game than Wii Sports is, you heard it people. It's now officially Casualablo 3 for casuals only.

I think that's the saddest part of this whole Diablo 3 fiasco. You all expect Diablo to be something the series isn't. Now you're all mad for no reason.

Diablo 3 was fine for what it was. The problem isn't what it was, it's what you all wanted it to be. We all enjoyed Diablo 2 because it was really the only thing like it at the time. Even if the gameplay was stupidly shallow and the grind was massive, we didn't care. Now, 11 years later, we wanted something that gave us the same experiance but wasn't the same game. Something pretty much impossible to do.

Face the facts, your expectations were way the hell to high for Diablo 3. It had nothing to do with it being dumbed down or casualized, it has everything to do with the fact that the series is a very simple RPG that puts 100% of the focus on the grind to get gear. Yes their looting system isn't the greatest right now, but fixing that won't bring depth to the game.
