Okay, "influence" was a wrong term (I said it, in quotes too because I couldn't think of the right term). Presence and history is what I should have said, and even then, it still makes no sense. Bayo lacks history with Nintendo systems in comparison with the other four. How many Nintendo fans even know Bayonetta? Less of them know about her than they do Snake, who's been more on PlayStations more than anything.

Do you know how many people get addicted to Smash when it comes out? Anything with a smaller release gets shunned in favor of the bigger name. Like releasing a Rayman game the same time as Grand Theft Auto or Call of Duty. Sure, maybe it sparks interest in a select few, but everybody else will be paying attention to what's the biggest thing now.

Yeah I agree. But it's still something to consider given the reference at the end of the Palutena trailer. Yes it could be a reference to a skin, but it's still a possibility.

Chrom would be neat. Shulk would be neat as well.

Guess we'll wait and see.

It's an immensely popular franchise but not one I'm bothered about missing out on. Xenoblade, I would be buying. But the amount of franchises on wii u "I'm missing out on" is so small I am highly amused by any very forced and manufactured gloating going on by Nintendo fans. I could've bought the last three but chose not to. Nevertheless, a single character announcement on a game is not system wars worthy news, it would be better for the specific wii u board. I'd be saying the same for any game series. We've had this thread every time they've announced someone, including the wii fit trainer.

There are quite a few ssb characters that have had only one or two games released: Marth had two (which were only released in Japan until the remake), Roy had one that hadn't released yet (Japan only), Ike had two, Rob had one, Olimar had two, Pit had two, Fox had two, Captain Falcon had two, Ice Climbers had one. People had no idea who a lot of these guys were until ssb came out, but they're now Nintendo staples. The same could easily happen with Bayonetta.

I think an exclusive published by Nintendo is more meaningful than a game being ported to a Nintendo system along with 50 other systems 20 years ago.

Your second point is very true, but like I said, Marketing works retroactively. People will remember Bayonetta whenever they play ssb; Any exposure Bayonetta can get will increase sales, which increases the chances of another game in the series.

Considering how dead the forums are, I don't think it matters much. At this point, any game related news to discuss is a good thing.

With Robin, that makes the third character with male and female representations. The other two are the Wii Fit Trainer and the Villager.

I did not expect multiple character reveals.

Lucina seems like Marth clone. Super disappointed it wasn't Shulk.

Lucina maybe as a character, the avatar character from Awakening is doo-doo butter beyond being there for someone to go full creep into waifu emblem.

Wonder Red and his game in general has more personality as a whole, and in the context of a fighting game, he'd be better suited than another sword based fire emblem character that's going to play the same way, and a projectile heavy character like Robin.

I was mostly talking about relevancy, in which Wonder Red doesn't have much. But talking from an unique fighter standpoint, he's pretty legit.

So this is the day I've been waiting for since Sm4sh was announced: Captain Falcon's reveal. It was annoying to see his reveal trailer interrupted by two nobodies from Fire Emblem, but that's okay, I ain't even mad. I'm just glad Chrom isn't in.

How poor can your comprehension be to think that Chrom was announced as a playable character in that trailer? I'm not trying to be rude, but please don't ever have children.

This is kind of weird for me. I would have been okay with Lucina or the avatar making it in over Chrom ( I would have been okay with Chrom as well for that matter), though now that BOTH are in, not having Chrom playable just looks weird to me, since he's pretty much the other important character from Awakening, especially since Chrom is one of the first characters you see in the game.

Captain Falcon fans had nothing to be worried about. I didn't believe for one second that they would cut any of the original twelve.

Let's be real here. Game and Watch, The Ice Climbers, and Pit (pre the 3ds game doing relatively well) were in Smash Bros. It's not exactly exclusive to Nintendo's most popular games. Freakin Earthbound and Mother 3 characters have been in Smash Bros. Doki Doki trophies, custom robo, that shit with the giants, etc.
