Chrono Trigger DS 2D confirmed

there are others who HAVEN'T bought the damn game 2 times before. For THOSE people, this is a great opportunity.

Last i checked i was allowed an opinion, as for that if you haven't picked it up by now after 2 releases and or emulated it, then you never wanted to play it in the first place, and most young kids are not gonna appreciate it compard to the flashy graphics of today.

I'm just peeved that every time those people spend $40 on a 15 year old game because there isn't a better option, it only encourages Square to continue that practice, and discourages them from both lowering the prices on their old games and producing new original games.

There doesn't seem to be any evidence that they are going back and doing the visuals at all...

I would have preferred a hi-res smoother 2d game akin to FF1/2 on the PSP rather than a 3D remake, but it seems we aren't getting either.

IT IS AN ENHANCED PORT LIKE VP LENNETH AND FF TACTICS

I am more than happy with it because

1. I live in Europe and we never got the original here
2. The SNES version has much higher prices on ebay
3. The PS1 version is broken
4. It is evidence that SE is acknowledging the existence of Chrono Trigger which is a good sign for the future

which is why i wont get the game, I purchase the original when it was launched, and i purchase the ps1 version when it launched cause it had all the cool anime fmv's intros, middle parts and endings all in glorious FMV. but this only has a single new dungeon so...no.

Newsflash: most people have not played this game 3 times over. Most people have never played the game at all.

For all of those people, it will be a blast. Instead of hating about YOU not getting something extra, you can encourage the people who've never enjoyed it before that they'll have a blast.

I know it would require you to actually think about someone OTHER than yourself...but you can do it.

i beat the game though the only ending i got was w/o chrono

i tried going back to get the others but i just sucked

i'd play it again, especially if it had some sort of wireless co op

I don't know about you guys but I would rather have him working on a new game then making incremental improvements to an already fantastic game. A outsourced quick port with a bit of extra content is perfectly fine in this case

I have nothing against the concept of a Chrono Trigger port (because, as others have said, plenty of people haven't played the game yet), but I have something against the full retail pricing. It should be $25 at most.

Because Squareenix is an unscrupulous company that rips off all its customers. This isn't new, they do it with all their DS games

QFFT! I hated the 3-D presentation of FF3 and FFIV looks the same. Definitely rather have it on console if they want a real 3-D remake, it's just too blocky, etc. While the 2-D adds so much detail, etc. Especially on the DS.

Maybe you are right... Maybe not. I think a game like Chrono Trigger (the truly God of RPGs) desrves to be sold at full price.

Well with the recent Square-Enix "no risky games" announcement they may be using the remake as a way of testing the water to see if the franchise is still proftable.

A lot of people are going to be playing Chrono Trigger for the first time on the DS... So i don't want them to get an altered 3-D version that could possibly be screwed up and would give them a bad impression of the game. I just hope the polish up the 2d graphics, makes the music sound nicer, and let us play the game. Let the people who were too young or misses it play a fantastic classic.

And for everyone saying "I already have the game on my comp for free!": Shame on you :)

This game is a little special from all the other FF ports from S-E.

This is going to be the only way I get to play the game were I live legally if I don't want to import a US PS1 or US SNES and a CT on the SNES isn't exactly cheap today. Even if this game will be $40 on the DS and I have to import it from USA it would still be cheaper then all the other ways.JLF1

To all those saying it should be 2d cause it would look ugly in 3d...

DS is about as powerful as an N64 right?

and an N64 is more powerful than a PSX right?

So if chrono cross can look gorgeous on a PSX

Why cant they redo CT with CC quality graphics?

i hoped they would do it for home consoles in the first place. why are all the remakes for handhelds?

SNES remakes on handehelds is like printing money for these companies, takes just a handful of people and they usually sell well. After all, handhelds have the largest install base I believe.

The problem is that it would not be CT then. Was Twin Snakes on GC really that much better than MGS1? Another problem is that the 3D engine S-E uses on the DS makes every character look like 10 year olds. I'm not saying that a 3 remake of the game should never exist but if they did it S-E should do it on a console that can produce good looking 3D graphics.

This is a game called Legend Of Mana on the PS1. This is the kind of 2D S-E ones was able to produce. The DS is powerful enough to have this kind of 2D graphics.

Compared to FFIII on the DS which IMO look bad. Impressive for the DS but still bad.

The graphics aren't bad, but if square is continuing rereleases/remakes on handhelds, I really hope if they do a ff6 remake in 3d and on PSP. The DS doesn't really lend itself that well to single screen remakes. Unfortunately. I predict FF5 will get ported to PSP, and FF6 will get remade for DS.

It should be priced at $30 like Mario 64 DS. But then again, since it's Square Enix, it'll probably be $40 since that seems to be the base price for all they're DS games.

I'm glad they keep the game in 2D, I love it the way it is and wouldn't like it to be ruined with crappy 3D graphics.

Let's keep it simple, if it ain't broken, don't fix it.

2D is better than a full 3D remake, at least on the DS.
