Yeah, and most game prices usually don't rise. They usually lower.

Thats what I'm saying. Same reason I would get Ocarina of Time if they released that on DS. I don't know about the rest of you but I take my portable games with me.

one game is excluded to this rule. Marvel vs Capcom 2. $79.. It's old yet it's still the most expensive ps2 game I seen. What was the original price?

That's not really expensive. There are many other console games, even for older systems that can go over $250.[QUOTE="Zhengi"][QUOTE="finalfantasy94"]I rather get the playstation version. That packs this and FF4 if im not misatken. For a cheaper price.DeathScape666

To be honest, I play most handheld games at home. Hell, it's probably 99.9 percent of the time, too.
But maybe that's just me.
You need to get out of the house more then :)
I find it a great convience having the DS when I'm out and about, especially when I'm at work. I take a break and I bring out the DS and game for a bit before going back to work.
[QUOTE="blushield"][QUOTE="Panzer_Zwei"]In Japan the Playstation port was released as a stand-alone game for $60.Panzer_Zwei
The PS1 version had crippling load times and is considered to be be theworst version by far
Yet that didn't stopped Squaresoft for selling it at full price in Japan. It was only thanks to Sony of America/Europe policies that we got the game in a bundle and at a cheaper price tag.
This is why the Japanese dont mind being milked...[QUOTE="Oroin"][QUOTE="DeathScape666"][QUOTE="Hewkii"][QUOTE="DeathScape666"]On top of that, it's a lot different for food because food rarely ever has price-drops over a number of years.

It is not a true port. There are extra dungeons in it has well remade to use the second screen. HarlockJC
Thats just a port with extras.

I really have no reason to take it anywhere, though. I'm not going to play the game when I'm doing the event or activity I must be doing. Taking it to football practice, school, Homecoming, a friends' house, or anything like that is just kind of... not something I'd do.
I'm only sixteen years old, by the way. If that tells you anything.

And?
It's a rip off and Im not buying it.
It's a straight port with little added on. I don't care if it's the best jrpg ever, it's a ported SNES game. SNES ports don't deserve more money than brand new games.
I'll buy it, but only when used copies go down to like tweny bucks. Im not throwing my cash at Sqaure Enix.

Final Fantasy IV or V. And for a period of time you could find it for twenty bucks at retail.

Once your old enough to get a job, portablility doesnt mean much.
Chrono Trigger was coupled with IV in America.
In Japan IV, V, and VI were released together (and also separately).
And yes, it was marked down to $20.00, cheap for a new PS1 game (I had forgotten about that thanks for reminding me).

No, what i meant by it is, by buying it, I'll only be encouraging Square to release more over charged ports. But yeah, I've always wanted to play CT so I plan to buy it regardless of the price.
Damn you squarenix, 40 dollars for a remake...................still getting it though -_-EPaul
It's not even a remake. It's a straight port.
I love chrono trigger. It's easily one of my afavourite games. But this is rediculous. There's not excuse for SE to sell a port for more than most other DS games sell. I've already bought it on the super nintendo and PS1, and I absoutely refuse to buy it again. Especially for $40.

I swear, Square is lucky I wasn't old enough to be into JRPGs at the time it was released. It should seriously be $30 at most.

I wasnt old enough either, but Im still not dropping the cash on this bs.
Theres plenty of more worthy games worth my hard earned cash that are at a more fair price.

not really. I can't think of any games I particularly want this season, other than Rock Band 2, but I don't have a console to play that, unfortunately.
Well, I was talking for myself. So yeah really. And for many other people there are plenty of other great games coming out later this year that are at a more reasonable price.

No, his observation was correct. Market dictates cost. If the market is ridiculous enough to be willing to pay $40 for a SNES game in 2008, we'll see more and more games priced like this.If the market decides it has a brain and simply refuses, we all gain, because they'll be forced to reduce the price.
So yes, he is part of the problem. He's thinking about supporting a giant rip-off that will keep the game out of the hands of most.
You could think of it this way. Buy this game and hope it sells well, it will inevitably lead to either a Chrono Cross remake or an announcement of Chrono 3 as SE have finally realized that the Chrono franchise is a money maker. Or ofcourse this game selling well could lead to SE thinking they can get away with making cheap ass ports and selling them at full price. To be honest their running out of games to port I think. Ports don't bother me as much as spin offs though. Crappy spin offs.Dahaka-UKThat's a pretty poor way of thinking about it. SE already knows the franchise is beloved...or they wouldn't dare charging such a riduclous price for this game. Duh.
You don't pay $40 for an SNES game. I swear...a bunch of people are about to drop about 30 points on my respect list for this. It's highway robbery of the highest order.

I don't think square-enix knew how popular this game is. I mean it's taken them all this time to release something Chrono related. After the ammount of screams and cries from Chrono fans everywhere. And low an behold they finally give them somethin.. A frikkin port. Exactly what fans didn't want. If they truely knew this was a game loved be many they'd give the fans what they want, Chrono Trigger 3. Maybe, just maybe Chrono Trigger DS selling well will show them to light.
I could understand why fans of this game wouldn't want to buy it. But this isnt just any JRPG. It's the best JRPG in existance. Fans should do everything to make sure there's a sequel which undoubtfully is bound not to live up to the Chrono Trigger name judging SE's lacklusterness. Line SE's pockets with cash by buying this crappy port. It's the only way to get through to them. They don't take risks anymore so why not.
