CinemaBlend brings on Borderlands hype, saying its better than Killzone 2.

So let me just say that I don't know about it being better then Killzone 2 however I agree with them saying this game is very very underhyped and its not fair to the game. Keep in mind that their goal was to build hype for the game and since it is as underrated as it is that requires them to overhype it and one of the most hyped shooters right now is Killzone 2 so don't take it too seriously because they were really just building hype. The reason I posted this was because they give a lot of good information about the game and I think it needs more hype.

edit - I don't think people are realising this but CinemaBlend is just another media outlet not the developers of the game.. the game developers are Gearbox and it's being published by Take 2.

Yea it really doesn't but again its just to build hype probably even though some of the aspects are comparable and they could have just picked any other shooter and gotten away with it.

Don;t worry, I'll answer my own question: atleast 3.5 years, maybe more. Shooters evolve quickly these days. Think about all the crap H3 got because is was basically "H2.5" - yet it had tons of upgrades. It's not like Guerilla had much to bring with them from KZ1, anyway, lol.

And to those complaining, length of development doesn't mean a game is bad, Blizzard games can take up to ten years and they are some of the best.

If a game has 500k weapons, 600k items, 10k vehicle parts and a world map that's randomized when you restart the game, it automatically destroys KZ2.

Yes, Borderlands has all of these.

But I think that this game will be damn sweet non the less ;)

based on people's impression from the beta:

1) No party system

2) No water physics

3) sluggish controls - punishing recoil that ruins MP

4) selective (arbitrary?) destructable environments

5) laggy menus

Now sure, they may fix some of this from beta, but that's there perogative, not a guarantee. Before COD4, some of this stuff could fly and the game would still be considered "good in its own right" or something. If the final product ships with even 3 of these issues, the game will score mid-8's at best with a good story and we all will yawn our way to the next game.

Well it doesn't make sense for this site to call out KZ2. Especially when Borderlands is a multiplat title and is a very different type of FPS than KZ2.

If anything Borderlands should be compared to Far Cry or STALKER.

The thing with them is they aren't saying it'll be a flat out better game than their comparisons they are just taking aspects of the game that they say will be better than certain aspects of another. Their point is that this game is way too underhyped for what its trying to do when Killzone is getting all this hype for doing more of the same with great graphics.

Besides, stuff like 58369283 weapons, items, vehicle upgrades and a randomly generated free roaming world aren't necessarily without downsides. The weapons could look and feel underwhelming, the world could be bland and boring.

I agree with you, they do have a lot of stuff but how much will be good and how much of it will be just for the sake of having a high amount won't be known until the game is out. Spore is a good example of this they gave us all that stuff but I felt that it was just too much and the same thing might happen to this game.
