I tried to go back and play the original deus ex before human revolution came out and hated it. its so dated. it was a chore to play through that game so I quit about a quarter through

other classic games I will never go back and play because I don't care:

Halflife 1 & 2

Castlevenia symnphony of the night

Final Fantasy 6

Fallout 1 & 2

Systrem shock 2

I just don't care

The NES castlevanias.

Part of me wants to try the NES NIja Gaidens and also try to attempt, but another part of me realizes I'd probably end up breaking something in the process, so...yeah.

I have bought several bundles off of steam over the last several years and I just haven't been bothered or ever interested enough to go back and play the old Hitman games or Deus Ex... I have hovered over the install buttons but never committed. I think as a gamer I want new experience more than playing old games... I guess that's why we get so pumped for sequels, best of both worlds!

Deus Ex is an amazing game, I played it for the first time last year and it's in my top 5 games of all time. Definitely play it if you like games with a lot of choice in how to approach gameplay.

A little off topic, I am playing Final Fantasy XII right now and it's absolutely fantastic still...this after having gone thru 7 years of this generation and seeing the likes of Crysis and GOW3.

On another note, FFXII is also a higher qualiy game than the majority of games that have released this generation as well--this goes hand and hand with my previous line of thinking that this generation started out with a lower standard of quality than the previous generation of consoles and is only surpassed by a few stand out exceptions like Demon's Souls (regardelss of graphics).

There's a lot for me that I think I will enjoy and never end up touching once I get them in my hands and play them for a bit. There's no way I'll play anything like NBA Jam again.

it is funny that there are games from this generation that feel more out dated than some of the "classics".

Aaaahhhh how dare some of you say Half Life 2:cry:

I am playing Deus Ex 1 for the first time and loving it. For me though its Resident Evil 4 on game cube. I just finished the remake of resi 1 and playing 4 again is not doing anyhting for me. it just reminds me of 5.

1 has amazing atmosphere and is genuinely quite scary... 4? Terrible!!

You crazy OP, I still love playing SotN and FFVI... SotN is definitely the more replayable of the two though.

Yeah FFXII is pretty great. It has pacing issues from hell and a good deal of uninteresting characters, but its damn solid and full of content. It actually felt like a next gen FF moreso than the XIII games.

But the same could be said for many last gen games compared to their current gen counterparts.

I don't think it's that old, I mean it hasn't even been ten years since it came out. It isn't a great game though.

I still love playing classics - tho I have run into a couple of games I never played and have a hard time getting into.. e.g. castlevania II: simon's quest. but I still go back and play games like grim fandango, planescape: torment, full throttle, and contra 3: the alien wars till this day.

I should play some classic games. I'm getting pissed at modern games. -Dragon's Dogma just f-ing broke on me. I got a "corrupt" save file somehow, and because of only having 1 save (WTF?) that means my whole game is lost. (level 34). It actually starts the game and immediately asks me if I want to delete my save and start a new game. What brilliant dumbass came up with the idea of not even having a backup up autosave or something to roll it back to should the latest save corrupt. It's like totally unthinkable on an RPG. -Then I start playing Darkness II for something just to take my mind off, and this game is an embarassing turd. So it's just pissing me off even more. I should just stick to classics. Seriously, crap like I've been playing is breaking my will to play video games at all. I need to play something good LOL.

Any 'classic' game that i've already played, don't have any intention to play them again. Either I didn't like them so no point to play again, or i liked them and already played them so much back then that i've had enough for a life time. Beside, I already don't have enough time to play all the recent games i want and I always have a backlog. So nevermind playing old games.

I don't argue with you otherwise, but I'm sure this is due to nostalgia since you haven't played third gen onwards.

Have you played red or blue lately? The game is honestly pretty bad. There are some pokemon that are far far better than others and it still has the godawful system of moves being phsyical or special based on type. I mean really some pokemon like gyrados are just wasted because of that.

And also I'm not gonna say pokemon games are anything but easy now, but there's no difficulty whatsoever in the first generation. I think the closest I got to losing a fight was like three of my pokemon fainting and that was because I had battled like 15-20 trainers in a row without healing.

Final Fantasy 6

These games are still very fun to play and very easy to immerse yourself in.

But I will agree with you about Deus Ex, Half Life, and Fallout.

I'll also throw GTA3 under the bus.

Well it is tough to replay FFVI after playing it into the ground, I'll admit. But SotN just never gets old to me. Its up there with games like SMB3, SMW, NGB, SSF2, etc...

Some games I just dont get tired of.

Lately I only played Silver. And it was the best!! Batteries didn't work in the cartridge though so I couldn't save :'( I always thought Silver was pretty hard. I always died in the gym in that radio tower city.

Ninja Gaiden 3 NES is extremely cheap! Not worth playing. The first Ninja Gaiden is only really cheap if you lose to the last boss. Ninja Gaiden 2 is fair enough though.

The games arent really that hard actually, I think most people are just scarred by their childhood memories of the games. For a kid, they were damn tough! I typically beat 1 and 2 in a single sitting now.

Yeah it sucks how the "respawn" works lol. I guess I just got so used to the games over the years. Even in the crazy trouble spot jumps I guess I just have my methods figured out.

...though I'll never be cool with those damn eagles, or hawks or whatever the f*ck they are! Seriously, those damn birds are my worst enemy in those games.

There are only a few classics that I still play time to time, most of them I just got bored once I got into the game, usually in the first dungeon it became tiresome (BG2 / fallout 2 for example. I lost my save for Witcher 2 and was thinking to replay it but cannot stand the gameplay as well...)
