[QUOTE="cain006"]

[QUOTE="themajormayor"] What? Those were the only good Pokémonthemajormayor

Have you played red or blue lately? The game is honestly pretty bad. There are some pokemon that are far far better than others and it still has the godawful system of moves being phsyical or special based on type. I mean really some pokemon like gyrados are just wasted because of that.

And also I'm not gonna say pokemon games are anything but easy now, but there's no difficulty whatsoever in the first generation. I think the closest I got to losing a fight was like three of my pokemon fainting and that was because I had battled like 15-20 trainers in a row without healing.

Lately I only played Silver. And it was the best!! Batteries didn't work in the cartridge though so I couldn't save :'( I always thought Silver was pretty hard. I always died in the gym in that radio tower city.

Second Gen did have tough moments compared to the other gens, I felt some of the gyms were actually challenging if you weren't properly leveled, or didnt have the right pokemon. (FVckin Miltank...) THe soulsilver/heartgold remakes were great, if you're looking to get back into pokemon, start there.

FF IX, I used to call it my favourite FF, but when I went back to it a couple months ago I hated it. The game play is so slow and boring. For some reason I don't have this problem with FF VII at all

Pretty much any JRPG, I really don't see how people can complain how today's JRPGs when they play exactly like those before (somewhere along the line) and just have better visuals. They were never good to me, but I can't really understand the hate.

Indeed, HGSS are amazing and are the best representations of that boring flatland we call Kanto also. However, starting there is no excuse to skip DPPt, or not at least try RSE, which despite being my first ones I've played and my second favorite of all time, age worse every day.

There's a lot. Nostalgia is an ugly thing, and can easily make you forget a game's flaws. Here's some I probably won't play ever again:

Half Life 1 & 2: These are good games, no doubt, but they also have some serious problems. The pacing is off in a lot of areas, and it makes the games unnecessary long.

Pretty much every single NES/SEGA game from the 80/90's: I know there's a lot of classics on the NES, but I just can't play those games today. They're no fun to me anymore.

[QUOTE="Grey_Eyed_Elf"]I have bought several bundles off of steam over the last several years and I just haven't been bothered or ever interested enough to go back and play the old Hitman games or Deus Ex... I have hovered over the install buttons but never committed. I think as a gamer I want new experience more than playing old games... I guess that's why we get so pumped for sequels, best of both worlds! cain006

Deus Ex is an amazing game, I played it for the first time last year and it's in my top 5 games of all time. Definitely play it if you like games with a lot of choice in how to approach gameplay.

I played the game 9-10 years ago :P... I just re-purchased it on steam without knowing and just haven't bothered playing it again.

[QUOTE="Blabadon"]First two generations of Pokemon. Bad Pokemon (first gen), bad sprites, and pre-fourth gen Kanto. That sucks. themajormayor
What? Those were the only good Pokémon

First gen Pokemon was also extremely broken with Psychics having no true counter.

Chrono Trigger. It bores me. That's right, I said it.

sammyjenkis898

Seriously?

I was playing a lot of that game for a while, last month, I found it incredible. I got stuck, I know what to do now, I got an Item that I forgot to equip to help me forward, I have to pay more attention. So, I haven't been playing, but I really enjoyed that game, it can be hard too, and the battle system, I don't see how Chrono Cross would be worth it.

What didn't you like? Just wondering.

As for me, Battle Toads.

Also, most Final Fantasy-s, I like the gameplay, but the story is always in your face, Zelda 2, I was looking forward to, but the gameplay feels wonky, same with Super Mario 64. I don't see how anyone can argue Super Mario 64 is better than Sunshine or the Galaxy games with those controls. There is a guy that can play that game with his feet, and I can't stand the controls with my hands.

I tried to get into Baldur's Gate, Morrowind and Fallout a while ago, but meh, archaic crap.

But on the other hand I actually played SS2 for the first time after playing Bioshock. I loved it and preferred it over Bioshock. With Deus Ex something weird also happened, I could never finish it when it came out but I played it like two years ago and loved it and finally finished it. Also replayed it last year.

I also recently replayed ALTTP, Super Metroid and Chrono Trigger. The first two I had to force it in parts getting close to not like them anymore. Chrono I still enjoyed. I have also been replaying some PS games like Parasite Eve and Resident evil and still enjoy them(I enjoy more the old RE's than the new ones).

I generally have no problem going back to play old games, however I don't think I have ever beaten one of the old games I have gone back to play.

I played Castlevania SotN for the first time last year and was blown away by how great that game was. I don't see how you would not be able to go back to it

Man thats what I'm sayin. SotN is just packed with replay value and its still one of the best 2d games around.
