Why? The biggest insult is that it's based on the mobile version, and not some HD redraw of the SNES version.

Well that certainly sucks. When I first heard this I thought that it was great news and was hoping for them to release this on home consoles as well however if they did bring this to home consoles then I’d probably pass on it.

A straight rom of the SNES version for $8 like on Wii VC would be better than this.

Basing it on the demo, FF15 is actually a rock solid port. I'm sure there will be minor issues, but at 1080p, with a 7700k and 1070, I was sporting a near constant 60fps with everything maxed.

That seems to be what square enix does with all their games that they have a mobile port available for

@lundy86_4: yeah I have faith... SEs last 3 ports before this have all been excellent. 13-2, and Lightning Returns were great, and playing FF12 TZA right now.

First they half ass Secret of Mana and then do the same with Chrono Trigger. SE give zero f***z about their classic masterpieces. They're just a means to make some quick cash for them.

I find that it's when they port something old, where they lost half the data... Therein lies the issue... We end up with a mobile port, which is largely crap.

Yeah SE seems to be pretty shitty about bringing their classics to Steam.

Which is so dumb, those games would sell like crazy if they were proper ports.

I'm actually enjoying the SoM remake. I wasn't expecting a AAA PC game going in, though. It's a remake of a ~25 year old game, not something meant to push hardware to the limit.

But yeah this Chrono Trigger port looks inexcusable.

What is with the boneheaded mentality among Japanese publishers recently? First it was Capcom, then Konami, and now Square-Enix.

@cainetao11: Chrono Trigger is one if the best jrpgs ever, so it's worth getting excited about when SE doesn't try to give you a rectal exam with it. Also, it's not really turn-based

My theory is that they are weening everybody on to their mobile style/ports as this is where they want most of their sales to occur from now on to the future...

@MBirdy88: It's worth noting that, because Chrono Trigger never officially released in Europe until 2009 (the DS version), many Euro gamers first discovered Chrono Trigger through PC emulation (in my case, during the late '90s).
