Cliffy B asks PC Gamers to forgive him. Admits PC is superior and he was wrong.

Cliff Bleszinski and PC gamers have a long, long history. While Cliff was responsible for one of the most classic FPS games to date, Unreal, he was also responsible for Gears of War. And when Gears of War 2 released on X360, a lot of PC gamers wondered whether that title would be coming to their platform.

Cliff then went on a rampage and said some really harsh words that most probably hurt PC gamers. Cliff claimed that GoW 2 was not coming to the PC due to piracy, stating that PC enthusiasts were – more or less – pirates.

As Cliff said back in 2008:

“The person who is savvy enough to want to have a good PC to upgrade their video card, is a person who is savvy enough to know [BitTorrent] to know all the elements so they can pirate software. Therefore, high-end videogames are suffering very much on the PC.”

Well, Cliff Bleszinski officially apologized today at the Games Awards 2015.

Bleszinski said that he was wrong about that statement, asked PC gamers to simply let it go, confirmed that the PC is the superior platform, and that he prefers playing multi-platform titles on the PC.

Cliff Bleszinski is currently working on a PC exclusive arena shooter, LawBreakers, that is powered by Unreal Engine 4.

As we all know, Gears of War 2 didn't come to PC because of exclusivity deal with Microsoft, since it was a system seller but instead of admitting that, Cliffy B blamed piracy instead.

i've never heard of this guy. but is sounds like he fears the master race and decided to make peace before it was too late.

I think a lot of PC developers are tempted when they see the amount of games sold on consoles at times.

But you see a lot of them coming back to PC too, even if they were quite successful on consoles: see Crytek and Epic.

PC gaming was not in a good place 7 years ago. The platform was being saddled with terrible ports monthly and Steam was still an oddity for most people. Consoles definitely sold far more when it came to multiplatform releases, and digital gaming was only just starting to take off. The PC platform began to bounce back in 2010 when more and more developers started to put their faith in Steam as a platform.

He's just a graphics whore anyway, always has been.

He's back at home, also worked on Superhot (co-designer of an arena stage). That was M$ who ruined PC devs like Epic, Ensemble Studios (made Age of Empires series then ...halo wars), Digital Anvil ( made Freelancer, then brute force...), FASA - (made games like mechassault4 and crimson skies but dissappeared), Remedy - one of the lead owners quit and its been stated how MS forced them to ruin Alan wake and "sell hotdogs".

And why he worked on Jazz Jackrabbit, Unreal back in the days because PC is the best platform of the decades.

Golden era of PC gaming, just saying. Steam was not even born that time.

It wasn't getting enough Console ports but it was still getting enough PC exclusives. So you seriously believe that Gears and Halo are not on PC because of Piracy and not because they are system sellers?

A lot key people left Crytek. It's not even same powerhouse it used to be back in Far Cry and Crysis days. Ever since Crysis 2, they are going downhill, both in quality and resources. They are only good for CryEngine. Their new games suck.

I can agree to all that. Ever since Crytek wanted to milk the console industry they forgot that only dudebro shooters work on consoles. Last I read was Crytek were having trouble paying their employees. Which is dire news! I never liked any of their games after Warhead but yes the CryEngine is really good.

Yeah, that's true. They had to sell one of their studios and sell Homefront IP to stay in business. Cevat Yerli made some very bad decisions, and he is still doing so by making Robinson: The Journey, a VR game that started as PC/OR project a timed PS4 exclusive. But then again, it's just going to be graphics showpiece like and yet another terrible game like Ryse or Warface.

@Cloud_imperium: Cevat is an idiot and has no business sense whatsoever. For what it's worth, I want to wait and see how Robinson is. I've only seen a trailer which was probably a min long and it looks different so I'm waiting to see what it will be like. It may very well end up as graphical showcase. Never really played Ryse and Warface, like I said, I did not buy any game of theirs after Warhead. :)

Robinson looks like some kind of Walking Simulator to me. But yeah,,, we'll see. Would be nice if there are actual puzzles in first person but that's too much to ask I think .

Well having watched the awards now, I remember him saying he said some things that weren't liked by or seen as negative to PC and then looking at the camera and saying to the effect, I was wrong forgive me, I am sorry ok. He never said which comment or retracted anything in particular. Think they are filling in too many blanks here unless there is something I missed.

I'm firing the show up again on Xbox one to see the comment by Cliffy again.

Cliff B, David Jaffe and Peter Mollyneux are the devs that get my side eye. I Never believe anything these devs say and always take their statements with a grain of salt.

Honestly, I don't really care about the gossipy/boo hoo hoo aspect of gaming. He should just shut up and make games. If it's good, I'll buy it. If not? Oh well.

I also don't hold grudges. A good game is a good game regardless of what sob story came with it. Cliffy B. can say he made a pact with the devil. I still wouldn't care so long as the game is good.

High end games don't draw on PC the way they do on consoles, piracy at the time being a big part of the reason. PC plebs can't accept a reality. **** if they are talking about that spot with that iJustine chick, he barely said anything close to an apology, if anything that reads like some PC dweeb with an insecurity issue. I honestly didn't mind Crysis 2, it was a alright shooter.. And I felt the suit was far better in that one.. Their problem was they saw dollar signs and with games like Ryse they diverted tons of cash in a supposedly safe bet in a generic action game.. If they had kept small with realistic expectations they would still be a good developer.. This is the curse of the industry, we are seeing numerous devs in which a game series of theirs becomes a success.. Executives take helm over it and push out mainstream shit that isn't very good because it was a safe bet because they base it off the success of other mainstream games.. EA is a posterchild for this with games like Battlefront.. In which we are seeing these executives who have little clue nor care of the game industry with their only real experience in the retail industry and all they do is read flow charts, and chart sales of similar games and they push to do that for the bottom line..

Of course the dudes going to kiss ass, his next game is a pc title.

The only thing I ever liked of his was Unreal really. Never been a fan of Gears.
