Cnet chooses Xbox 360 controller as Best of All Time

The Xbox 360 pad has proven itself over a longer time and on a wider selection of titles -- and it has its own claims to originality.

It's not terribly pretty -- it's beige, for a start -- but the Xbox 360's pad is a winner on several counts. For starters, it was the first wireless pad to come as standard. Its comfy, solid design offers dual analogue joysticks and two analogue trigger buttons underneath.

There's also a built-in jack for connecting a headset, so you can hear and talk to your n00b opponents. Can it be waved around like a magician's wand? Hell no, but this is about serious-man gaming -- there's no time for moving your arms when your thumbs are tapping this fast."

ya, i'm never a fan of the PS controller, the analog stick position is weird. but honestly, the Xbox360 controller is great, but nothing ground breaking. they just input everything best thereof into it, thats it.

This is the best controller ever made....it is a redesign of the best before it...and the new features are subtle but make this my controller of choice.

Read the article is the best controller of this gen and i agree but i dont know i have to try the wii controller because x360 dpad isnt really good.

This is the best controller ever made....it is a redesign of the best before it...and the new features are subtle but make this my controller of choice.

The dualshock was better and guess what is in the list.The ps3 controller feels cheap yet light,the shoulder triggers arent well designed and the lack of rumble kind of sux.

It goes from the old school to this gen.atari,Snes,n64,playstation2,x360.No way the x360 controller is the best controller ever.

I think 360 controller is one of the best but I don't think it's teh best controller eva!! :)

I like how CNet doesn't consider Zelda to be "real gaming."

What credibility.

When you look back over the years at more primitive designs and consider just how many genres it's good for, it's hard not to say it's the best ever. Sure, the d-pad is horrific, but everything else is flawless.

I don't know. I love all my system's so I couldn't say, but I know due to the lack of DPAD intensive games on the 360, it's an oversight of M$'s that is easily missed by most media as they play Gears of War, Halo 3 Beta, etc.

Luckily, most everything else is excellent about it though. 

if only x360 controller change the dpad and make it look and feel like dual shock with better shoulder button then i will definitely agree x360 controller the best ever. c02z

I have not really tried playing fighters with the 360 controller, and I have very little experience with it.

It is, however, quite the contrary with Controller S, a controller I've usead to death with all types of games on the Xbox. Please tell me, which one has the better D-Pad? Because I thought Controller S had a great D-Pad.

Also, the X360 controller is almost universally regarded as the best controller ever, not only from CNET's point of view, but many other sources. I don't understand why people are acting so suprised.
