CNET lists top 5 most wanted gadgets. 2 out of 3 consoles made the list...

I'm not surprised at #1, it has the highest rating of the 3 consoles on that site, I'd like that iPhone as well.

Not surprising if you ask me.  Keep in mind they didn't ask "what are you desperate to play."   They ask what the most wanted were.  Of course people WANT a PS3...they loved the PS1 and PS2.   But wanting a PS3 right now is like wanting a ferrari...it doesn't mean people are going to actually buy one. 

Hell, I want a PS3 because I loved the PS1 and PS2 and because I know in a year I'll want to watch HD movies in 1080p.  But if I was asked which consoles I was most likely to buy in the next year the lsit would be (1) Wii (which I bought), (2) 360 (because of the game library), and PS3 would be last.

The problem is there are too many simple-minded fanboy who think "want" automatically means "will rush out immediately and buy no questions asked".   That simply isn't true.   I want a PS3...but I'm not going to buy one.

dont know the law where you are but in UK its illegal to drive while on phone.

as for the list i thought ps3 wasnt gunna be on the list since all the bad publicity and poor sales :O...quite shocking really...i guess there must be alot of people waiting for a price drop

Makes sence to me, I was expecting the Ps3 to be placed on number 3 and the Wii on number 2, the Iphone should be number 1 IMO.

I'm sure no one wants a console that breaks in 6 months, that's why the 360 didn't make it into the top 5.

The problem is that there are too many 'cool and hip' people around here that think they're not geeks or nerds. This is a list of 'gadgets', and most wanted gadgets like these go beyond simply gaming. I'm sure the Wii and PS3 made it because of other features like Wii Channels, Blu-Ray player, and Linux. 

If you are posting on System Wars, you are a gaming and technology geek.  Any attempt to downplay that fact will get you laughed at.

Not much, there are only 3 sony items in the top 20 (including the ps3)....

All 3 consoles are in the top 10 of CNET's list this week. Who cares what console is higher than the other one? Have a look at the sales and you'll see a different story.

Sorry, I thought I was looking at the top 5 most wanted gadgets list. Judging from the lack of Wii's on shelves and its domination in sales, I think it's safe to say the Wii is the most wanted gadget.

If you're going to respond again, do us all a favour and take a few deep breaths first and relax. The only posts I ever see from you are personal attacks (see: the last line of your post) when someone doesn't like the PS3 as much as you. 

Not surprised PS3 is number 1, I know many people, myself included who want one because of how great PSone, 2 and PSP are. Most of us just can't afford one, but when the price drops, sales will certainly hit a big spike. I'm disappointed to see 360 not on the list though, with all the great games it has, it should be on there.Gamer46

You're quoting from the April 29 2007 list and not this weeks. The Xbox Elite made the top 10 anyway.

This list changes from week to week and it's not really telling me very much. I'm not losing sleep over this list. There is a big difference between wanting something and actually buying and getting it. I might want the best PC on the market today but that doesn't mean that I'm actually going to buy it.

All it means is that more people want PS3 even if they either can't afford it yet, are waiting for price drops, or waiting for specific games. Good sign really because as soon as the games come and a price drop PS3 is just going to take off.

wtf no its not. The wii is smokin it. wii has sold over 7 million consoles while the ps3 has sold 3.5, while sony shipped over 5 million. Its still hard to find a wii when I could walk 2 the nearest gamecrazy and pick up a ps3.
