CNET: the state of next-gen video game consoles

i really call bullhonkey on this, there's no way the 360 will sell that little while the ps3 sells that much.

the guys who predicted this are really borderline insane

Hmm, well, I dno't think the Wii is going to sell that much. But then again, I've been wrong.

And the ps3 selling that much, well, now that seems as ridiculous as Rosie O'donnel.

The 360 will sell well, but in the long run the Wii will probably still outsell it by quite a bit.

while this is also a prediction i really don't see the ps3 increasing that much. Lately it seems CNET doesn't like the 360 that much.

That doesn't seem believeable to me. I can buy the 360 #s, and the Wii numbers, but the PS3 #s seem like extreme wishful thinking.

Wow, I'm quite surprised at that considering we bash Gamespot so much, yet they are a company of CNET lol.

That's interesting.

Remember, Xbox (720) may be coming out in the next few years, so maybe they took that into consideration for the low 360 sales? Edit: They also took price drops into consideration, which is a valid point. When the PS3/360 drop down to even lower prices (sub 300), people will really see a value in PS3 over the 360 looking at the Blu-Ray player and larger HDD.

Either that or they know something we don't.

You really think that the Wii will have such a drastic decrease in sells over the next four years that it won't reach 50 million?

I can see that PS3 overtaking the 360 in the long run, especially once it gets a substantial price cut. It will make for a relativaly cheap blu-ray player plus a decent gaming maching. However there is no way in hell that it will outsell the 360 by that much, I dont care what any of you fanboys might think.

I find this hypocrisy funny. Now that CNET predicts PS3 will sell heaps more than 360, CNET is "insane". But when they write articles praising Xbox and bashing the PS3, "They have some really good points!!!!!!!! Good article!!!!!!!!!!!"

Clearly he's saying that he doesn't believe those games will push the system to the numbers CNET is predicting, and that the article must be basing a lot of the PS3's predicted numbers on Blu-Ray's influence. He never implied FFXIII won't have an any impact on sales. Maybe it's your goggles that are foggy.

So two years from now, when new consoles are just being announced, the Wii won't have reached the 50 million plateau? And just the announcement of new consoles will hinder its sales so much that it'll begin doing 360-in-Japan like figures? Excuse me if I'm a bit incredulous.

And I find it strange that people are still using the graphics argument that's bolded above. It hasn't stopped the thing yet. Hell, the PS2 still does good numbers. Why is the Wii going to be any different? You've seemed to fall into the trap that gamers like the ones on this site dictate the success of the industry. Graphics matter, but they don't win a console war.

Okay dude, let me put it like this. Spikes can very in length. For example, the PSP recieved a Spike in sells in Japan when the newest Monster Hunter Game was released. The spike lasted a while, but now it's fading because there has not been a follow up title. In the case of the PS3, the spike will only remain, IF there are follow up titles to continue the momentum. As you can see with the PS3, there is no big exclusive coming out soon after MGSIV so the PS3 may only recieve a surge for a small while.

People need to sense sarcasm... I wonder how far I could have kept going with the arguement.
