No it didn't, it's a 73 on Metacritic.

That's still pretty high for what was a mediocre game.

I just wish COD will stop this futuristic sh** and get back to its roots.

How many times can you revisit WWII and no one wants to play WWI.

So many battles, fronts and aspects of WWII have never been shown in games.

So yeah, they could still make loads of WWII games.

Can't say I'm disappointed the LCD of game design is showing reduced sales.

That's a great way of phrasing it :) LCD tvs are terrible and popular just like COD. Oh well, I managed to get a Panasonic plasma before they dissapeared :)

CoD may never die. Also, it's very likely that GTA V put a dent in the sales of Ghosts. You don't sell 34 million copies of a game without stealing sales of other games.

Its Call of Duty so it will be fine in regards to sales heck even if it sells 5 million total thats still too much and your telling me a cinema website is estimating it will do 17 million? yeah the franchise is doing more than ok.

i wont be getting this game this year tho, currently everyone i know are addicted to destiny

6-7 million sales is probably all they need to break even though.

1-1.5 is break even on a AAA budget title.

I don't think they ever released the budget info for this. Afaik the last CoD Activison gave budget info for was MW 2 and it was $200 million for dev, marketing etc.

Surely Ghosts was in that ball park.

What do publishers get on a retail copy sale anyway? $20?

I miss the days when games only selling a few hundred thousand to maybe a few million was seen as a huge success.. A success that allows a developer to continue making their specific game niche franchise with a fanbase.. Gaming has become worse with these bandwagon trains in which publishers are pushing for unrealistic gains because they are suddenly seen as a huge success.. It's like the bullshit WoW.. Where we hear doom and gloom when the population dwindles to a "mere" 7 million (far greater than any monthly mmo in history still..), these expectations are going to cause a crash in the industry.. Where franchises are stomped out and abandoned because they didn't reach the high expectations (even though they are still pulling a profit).. This is going to lead to a collapse in the industry with this constant push for things like this..

There will never be another crash.

I haven't played a CoD game since first MW and later iterations have not impressed me. My first CoD game was the original CoD which I loved for the highly entertaining campaign.

I hope the game sells like the complete piece of shit it is. Call of duty in the early days was amazing. The first 2 on pc, since then the company / companies have really lost their way.. Can't only blame them tho. So many dudebro testosterone idiots have also helped shape the game into what it is today.

You're forgetting the publisher owns the IP in this case. The game studio is along for the ride.

This is the first COD that I actually want to play. Aside from Xmas presents I haven't bought a COD game since MW1....well, I bought MW2 on sale for $20 during a Steam sale.

But, honestly....it will suck if this game doesn't sell as well or well at all. Why? B/c they seem to be trying something new in the COD franchise and if it doesn't sell well they will probably just go back to the regular old COD which not many ppl want.

So, heres to hoping it does well and they keep changing it up somewhat.

I wonder what Activision will do if their sales get too low. The game will still sell a ton more than most other games, but if it continues to lose sales then they'll be looking to either fix the problem, which is what I feel Advanced Warfare is attempting to do, or slowly abandon the game and push marketing on other releases like a Destiny sequel or something.

Of course, this is coming from a gamer ignorant of most CoD and Activision affairs. Still gonna be interesting to observe what happens.

And it's currently this kind of mentality which is ruining gaming currently.. 18 million copies, hell 5 million copies, is a fuckton of sold copies.... These budgets in games are getting out of control, yet where the **** are these funds going? Destiny's budget is supposedly 500 million dollars................ Divinity Original Sin was crowdfunded for a mere 1 million dollars, and probably costed a little bit more after that.. Yet Divinity has far more content than Destiny.. WTF is going on here? This is basically turning into a feeding frenzy by these publishers in which they are going to hop on the bandwagon in pushing for the lowest common denominator to push for maximum profits.. Which will crash and burn.. EA's Dungeon Keeper game on Mobile is the posterchild for this.. EA years back gutted and destroyed Bullfrog, the developer of Dungeon Keeper (one of the best series ever made, the first game is in Gamespot's hall of fame), over 10 years later they release a new game in the franchise... A shameless cash grab mobile game, because afterall mobile games are selling.. So we literally have seen not only the destruction of one of the best franchises out there, but the bastardizing of it for a cash grab..

If you mean a crash like what happened in the 80's then no way. Video games are far too entertaining nowadays.

Videogame industry is about as likely to crash as the film industry. If a franchise fails then the devs and pubs simply moves on to another game. Simple as that.
