FFS! Why cant they get creative for once!? How many nazis do we have to kill before enough is enough? We have experienced just about every version of the WWIII story there is to tell, why not make it about WWI or sumthing? Heck, make a game about WWIV! that would be pretty cool, with sum advance albeit not too futuristic weapons...maybe throw in a tank that has a rail gun (since there is one really in development), and have the guns be pretty much the same except integrated with your HUD so as you pick up a weapon and point at different units, your HUD tells you how effective the weapon is. Just do ANYTHING but WW2

so damn true....
WW2 seems to be a good 'warwagon' to jump on.
I enjoyed the setting of COD 4 because it was modern.
[QUOTE="FrozenLiquid"]Can't we like do the Vietnam war or something?mingo123
nope, u'll lose the war :P
Yup, god forbid the Americans make a game that doesnt envolve them winning the war with thier heroism, while the European forces act as little cliche characters that pop in now and then ...
We need to see more games from a European/eastern perspective imo ... that would open up the audiance alittle.

Haha, American make funny joke!
cool, cod3 was great (yeah yeah "its treyarch so the game HAS to suck", how about NO) , cant wait for this one
mingo123
Suck ? Maybe not, but are you honestly saying that COD3 was better than the first 2 or better than COD4 ? Infinity Ward is just the better developer hands down. COD5 would be better under their guidance than Treyarch's.

when did I say that?
I am never buying another Treyarch developed CoD game. CoD3 was basically CoD2 with more bugs and a worse storyline.SpruceCaboose
not really, it was alot different then cod2 + it looked 10x better then cod2 and SP was awesome as well and storyline doesnt matter in WW2 games, it was a great game on its own, 24 players MP with vehicles> 8 player MP, no vehicles and lag

If I am aiming at a guy on a tank in SP, I have a sniper and a clear shot, and my shots keep hitting invisible walls, ala Metal of Honor from back in the day. I consider that a buggy game.
And it happened tons of times in different scenarios, and those "mini-games" with the up close fighting were just cheesy and un-needed filler.
And IMO, it looked about the same as CoD 2, seeing as they just stole the Infinity Ward engine and were using the same assets.
As for MP, you are correct. CoD3 was worth it for the MP, which is why I didn't sell it until CoD 4.
Can't we like do the Vietnam war or something?FrozenLiquidHeck no, remember when there was the Vietnam War game craze? Terrible terrible.
Everyone jumped on the bandwagon, the MoHAA devs, DICE, Conflict Devs ect. ect. Only Vietcong (1) and Battlefield Vietnam were decent out of the bunch. Thankfully it was short lived.
Honestly i'd like to see somthing WW1, or completely original - alternate history, but still plausible - ala Operation Flashpoint.
If the setting is in WWII again, then i'll pass, cause had more than enough of FPS shooters covering that conflict...
Are you kidding me? What point of view is left unturned?lucidfluxLoads...
ANZACs fighting along Kokoda against the Japanese - as one.
Biggest problem is there is a trend to 'do it from the 'American perspective' nearlyall the time. Games like Hidden and Dangerous really did go against the grain though.... Gameplay wise too.
[QUOTE="Pablo_Aimar"]Its set in the Pacific this mainly.

sounds better then cod4! im disapointed that they are using crappy cod4 engine tho
Astaghfirallah!! repent!! COD4 is the best engine known to mnakind, lol!!
WW2...far out. The market is saturated with this game format.
Pathetic.

Really? How many have there been this gen?
I completely missed the boat last gen, with all the medal of honors and brothers in arms, so im actually looking forward to this. Besides infinity ward cant crank out a cod4 every year, otherwise it would just be the same game. On a plus note, hype for cod6 can start now!!
God forbid they step away from generic settings and storylines, and yes I mean COD 4 too. The setting in COD 4 was no where close to being fresh either and Im still puzzled to this day why people are creaming all over it. I guess it's just like starving a group of people then handing them food just before they die of starvation, they will take whatever new food they can get.
They should concentrate on not only picking a unique setting, but actually trying to convey some emotion into the game instead of just telling a bland war story. They had a few moments in CoD 4 they could of expanded and made so much better. The killing of the citizens in the streets could of had so much more emotion to it and they could of added more of that kind of stuff throughout the game to show how war tears apart society.
If they are going to survive past CoD 4 they are going to have to start setting new priorities besides making a flash bang grenade of a game (by that I mean all flash and no substance for those that don't get it).
I realise I may sound pretty harsh, but CoD is a leader of the pack when it comes to war games. Just about everyone and their dog knows about CoD and they need to lead the genre of war games to new levels instead of adding on new coats of paint.

I have played many a FPS game.
CoD4 is great, IMO, because it does what many other shooters try to do and fail at. The SP has quite a few memorable levels in it, and the MP has tons of legs and legit incentives to continue playing, at least until 10th Prestige.
The game is also polished and incredibly solid. I probably wouldn't label it the best FPS ever, but it is certainly among the best IMO.
I agree. Call of Duty 3 wasn't a bad game. Treyarch simply put resources toward things like vehicles in COD3. I like Infinity Ward the most, but I don't think that Treyarch is bad (certainly not as bad as some people make them out to be).cool, cod3 was great (yeah yeah "its treyarch so the game HAS to suck", how about NO) , cant wait for this one

I'd buy it if they included a 40-50 song soundtrack in the special edition and played the biggest songs during gameplay. I know for a fact that the chopper pilots blasted The Doors and Creedence no matter what they were flying over.

Dont get me wrong its a good game, but I just remember how everyone was foaming at the mouth at how mind blowing the game was from gameplay to graphics.
They always make pretty solid games, but I wish they would do so much more than the norm since they are one of the ones leading the standard when it comes to war games.

Is Activision made up of brainless morons in vegetative states?
Quite frankly, this is a terrible move in a gaming environment where a WW2 setting is frowned upon as being extremely overused, no matter the location.
Idiots.
btw heres a link to the scans.

Uh, wasn't UO developed by Gray Matter, not Infinity Ward?
Okay, I'm not even going to pay any attention to that game now. CoD 4 was great because it was different, but come on, WWII... AGAIN? I swear to god, there's like 20 games now that have used WWII as it's setting. Medal of Honor, the earlier CoD games, Wolfenstein, Company of Heroes, Battlefield 1942, Brothers in Arms, and countless others, like seriously, enough already.WW2.
