Indeed it was, my mistake indeed.Uh, wasn't UO developed by Gray Matter, not Infinity Ward?

Bring back Grey Matter! :P

There needs to be more fantasy FPS imo .. I remember playing LEGENDS OF MIGHT AND MAGIC "the counter-strike of the fantasy genre" ... it was very rough around the edges but damn, it could of been awesome.
Hopefully project offset will fill that void... but its never a good idea to depend on 1 attempt alone.

nope, u'll lose the war :P
Yup, god forbid the Americans make a game that doesnt envolve them winning the war with thier heroism, while the European forces act as little cliche characters that pop in now and then ...
We need to see more games from a European/eastern perspective imo ... that would open up the audiance alittle.
I agree as an European guy....but im Portuguese! Im sure ill never see a portuguese troop fighting in a game...
Fantasy FPS games are cool, but I think the experience is much better with swords and what not. There needs to be more fantasy FPS imo .. I remember playing LEGENDS OF MIGHT AND MAGIC "the counter-strike of the fantasy genre" ... it was very rough around the edges but damn, it could of been awesome.

How come people are so narrow-minded to Call of Duty 5? It's set in the PACIFIC THEATRE. NOT IN THE EUROPEAN FRONT!!!! That area have been really underplayed, and I think having a storyline where you get captured by the Japs and watch your fellow captives get tortured, eventually, you'll get free by a Japanese renegade who's disillusioned by his brethren's ways.hiphops_saviorIt's still World War II and isn't original in any way.
Plenty in the mod scene. There needs to be more fantasy FPS imo .. I remember playing LEGENDS OF MIGHT AND MAGIC "the counter-strike of the fantasy genre" ... it was very rough around the edges but damn, it could of been awesome.

Age of Chilvery and Pirates and Vikings!
How about the battle in the Philippines when both Americans and Filipinos lost to the Japanese and the comeback of the Americans in the Philippines? That would really be great.
The game will definitely be more guerilla-like warfare you know with the HUKBALAHAP.

The sequal to Rival Species (HL1mod)? Its currently at closed alpha or beta, there are a few videos of Space Marine and Tyranids (gameplay) on moddb.[QUOTE="mingo123"][QUOTE="FrozenLiquid"]Can't we like do the Vietnam war or something?Meu2k7

Yes! Americans should make a game about them losing a war.

That's a great idea.
But even if they don't want, they could've at least made it set in WW1
Well just aslong they come with something fresh and fun and new in this rehashed WW2 setting, then it'll be all gravy baby.
Also it'll be neat if they had boss battles and if Hitler is one of them.
WW2.

That means Treyarch probably.

interest officially lost. man, why not something like WW1...something that hasn't been done to death. maybe even the Korean war?

Call of Duty 5 will allow you to play as the Russians, invading Germany.
And also, if I remember correctly, the Americans absolutely screwed the pooch in CoD 4 and it was the SAS that saved their asses...

COD4 had a significant portion dedicated to the SAS. c'mon, you have to admit that Soap was a great character.
Soap? isnt that the guy you played? as far as I can remember he did nothing in terms of character?
But thats exactly my point, CoD4 stirred it up ALITTLE, but in the end, what was it? just another cliched Amerca vs Iraq.
Now Russains vs Germans? yea thats more like it, but it makes you wonder how many times they can re-use WW1 and WW2, same prinicples slightly different setting.
damn :(
Looks like I'll be be playing CoD Modern Warfare again this fall. CoD Modern Warfare 2 will be my next CoD game. I will never play a WW2 shooter again.

yeah, you do play some missions with Soap. there's actually one pretty brutal moment that involves him in the single player. i do agree that WW2 is really played out. a Bosnian/Serbian conflict might be kind of cool.
Honestly instead of copying things that already happened. Why dont they make up there own war??? Yes it would be hard but thats why you are devs. They have been taking the easy way out lately. Grow some bawls and make your own war or conflict or whatever you want to call it IW.
I don't mind WW2. What I don't mind is the weapons. I know they weren't more to use but why can't they just add some fake weapons? They're simply boring to use after all these WW2 games.
I'd buy it.

Killfox
This is what I think Killzone2 is doing well. They have their own setting and their own weapons in a zone that really looks like a war and not a futuristic look like Halo 3 (it's not a bad thing but I just don't like that art-style).
All these developers need to take some damn risks instead of trodding around in safe territory. A Vietnam game done right would be awesome; stalking the jungle canopy and whatnot.
But at least this is different in the sense that the Pacific theatre hasn't really been done much before, and it should hopefully provide a different setting and a different kind of gameplay.
I'm still waiting for that damned WWI game I've been preaching about for the last 4-5 years, though.
